Quickthinx Allthoughts is a non-playable character goblin from Final Fantasy XIV. The mastermind of the Illuminati, he is the antagonist of the Alexander storyline introduced in the Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward expansion.
History
Quickthinx Allthoughts came across the Enigma Codex that included the plans for a walking citadel that could sustain many scholars as they studied the realm. For a nomadic race like the goblins, the idea was appealing. The Illuminati have little to no regard for the lives of others, and so Quickthinx had no qualms about summoning a primal to power the citadel.
As the adventurer infiltrated the primal fortress to shut it down, Quickthinx deployed numerous goblin soldiers and mecha to halt the invasion. He even confronted the adventurer in combat personally, piloting a goblin tank. Though he was defeated, he escaped and later claimed that he had feigned defeat in order to further his ultimate goals. He was later able to steal the final piece of the Enigma Codex, a relic needed to activate Alexander, from the adventurer's group by seemingly being able to predict the future, due to Alexander's ability to control time itself. He captured Roundrox, a young goblin capable of controlling the Enigma Codex, and by extension, Alexander. With everything he needed in his hands, Quickthinx addressed his Illuminati underlings and revealed his plans of using Alexander to rewrite history, creating a perfect world that he would control.
When the adventurer and their companions breached Alexander to rescue Roundrox, Alexander activated, and temporarily sent them back in time three years. While in the past, the book that recorded their deeds concerning Alexander was lost. Quickthinx found this record three years ago, and used it to gain knowledge of the future and form his plans for Alexander, thus creating a time loop.
After rescuing Roundrox and defeating the guardians that barred their path, the adventurer's group confronted Quickthinx in Alexander's control room. Quickthinx revealed that he was capable of controlling the Enigma Codex himself, having only needed Roundrox as a safety precaution, and attempted to activate Alexander's time travel abilities. Before he could finish, he was surprised by Mide, who shot him in the head, seemingly killing him. He survived due to his extensive cybernetics and tried one last time to activate Alexander. To his surprise, Alexander refused his commands, causing the Enigma Codex to explode, killing Quickthinx for good.
Characteristics
Appearance
Quickthinx, like the rest of Illuminati, dressed in armored plates with a navy-grayish hue and carried a bag in his back. His metallic headgear displayed the Illuminati's logo on top. His mask's right eye lens was circular and glowed red, while his left lens was shaped like a "D" and glowed yellow. Quickthinx's body was altered by himself to become a cyborg, being more machine than organic.
Personality
Quickthinx is an unscrupulous scholar willing to use lethal force to seize control of all technology on the world. Possessing an extreme sense of elitism, he is content with Alexander draining the world's aether while he and his fellow Illuminati live on inside the walking citadel. He callously kills off an informant once their usefulness is over. He has a small black cat named Shanoa as a pet, who is his constant companion and assists him in battle.
In despite of his ingenuity and intelligence, Quickthinx was, in truth, a delusional egomaniac. Having found Backrix's journal from the future, bestowed upon him by Shanoa, he was convinced that the future had chosen him to control Alexander to create a "perfect timeline" and an utopia with the Illuminati and by extension himself as the ruler of everything. Despite his bluster, he was ultimately deemed "ignorant and unworthy" and judged accordingly by Alexander, who refused him, much to his disbelief.
While not stated, it is implied Quickthinx had not-so-polite things to say about the Warrior of Light on Illuminati's communication channels in response to the infiltration.
