Miayli is a non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. She is the mayor of Treno. Miayli is the grandmother of Lumull and Eyaney, the sister of Alayla, and as she later discovers, the aunt of Krile.
History
When the Warrior of Light's party arrived in Treno, they found the city-state under attack by monsters and assisted in its defense. Once the battle had subsided, Miayli stepped forward to welcome the unexpected visitors from beyond the city. It was not long before she realized that Queen Sphene of Alexandria herself was among the group. Miayli revealed her concern over Alexandria's fate, explaining that all contact with the city had been lost and that it had vanished without leaving any trace. In response, Sphene and Y'shtola Rhul offered to explain everything that had transpired, while the rest of the party took the opportunity to explore Treno. Miayli then suggested that the Warrior of Light, G'raha Tia, ans Krile speak with her grandson, Lumull, who could provide them with work to assist the local residents.[1]
Following the Warrior's victory of Doomtrain and their party saving the town from another attack, Miayli and the townsfolk ran to congratulate them. When she looked at Krile, she began to see her sister, Alayla, and suspected Krile was related to her. She asked if Krile knew her, and Krile was shocked that Miayli knew her mother. Miayli later explained that she and Alayla were sisters, descendants of the Speaker, who had used to the interdimensional key that brought the Milalla to the Ninth. Alayla was the key's holder due to her being the eldest. She had left for Alexandria when the Preservation approached her and Robor to work for them. As such, any records about the key were also taken to Alexandria.
Because Miayli was the Speaker's herald, she claimed it was her task to determine if the current keeper of the key was worthy of carrying it. Since the current keeper was the Warrior of Light, she asked them what they would use it for. Although the Warrior's answer would normally be self-serving, Miayli was convinced the Warrior was worthy, due to their deeds and their friendship with her niece. Krile then said they ought to return for answers, just then realizing that she had contradicted herself, because she had been torn on whether to return to the Source or remain in the Ninth. Miayli calmed her down, and claimed that even though the Milalla had been working for generations to return to their ancestral home, Treno was their home now, and she believed Krile's parents would not have wanted her to remain in the Ninth, but live and be free. As the others left, she gave the Warrior a word of caution about the key. For eons, it had been passed from one user to another, each with a different reason on how to use it. Miayli believed the key chose its keeper and urged the Warrior to ensure the key never fell into wrong hands.
Treno's citizens gathered at the town entrance to bid goodbye to the adventurers, as they returned to the Source. Krile told Miayli that the Scions had discovered the cure for levin sickness, and she intended to bring it to Treno after learning it herself. Miayli told her she and her friends were always welcome and hugged Krile, briefly imagining that she was hugging Alayla. As the adventurers returned to the Source, Miayli urged the people to come up with new ideas on improving their livelihood, now that the barrier around Treno was working again.
