The uma bugyo is an unnamed non-playable character in Final Fantasy XIV. She is head of a delegation who came from Hingashi in the Far East to Eorzea during the Heavensturn in 2014 and 2026.

History

Heavensturn 2026

When Heavensturn once again marked the Year of the Horse, the uma bugyo returned to Eorzea as a delegate. Following the events of the previous Year of the Horse celebration, the uma bugyo was reminded of the strength of bonds that transcend nations. Inspired by a knight of House Fortemps whom she had previously met, and with the assistance of the high house, she secured a unicorn foal to serve as the celebration's mascot.

She informed the Warrior of Light that her assistant, the uma yoriki, was struggling to manage the mascot. Outside the Drowning Wench, the Warrior of Light found the yoriki with a frightened unicolt who was unsettled by the unfamiliar surroundings and refused to obey. Sensing the Warrior of Light's purity, the unicolt approached them willingly. The uma yoriki then asked the Warrior of Light to help promote the mascot. After touring the city-state to publicize the upcoming procession, the Warrior of Light returned to report to the uma bugyo, who expressed delight at seeing the unicorn thrive and hoped for a large crowd.

Once preparations were complete, the Warrior of Light and the unicolt traveled to the Zephyr Gate to meet the uma yoriki. The unicolt showed a desire to participate, and the uma yoriki allowed it on the condition that the Warrior of Light accompany him. Reaching the end of the parade route, the unicolt was warmly welcomed by the uma yoriki and the Grand Company riders alike. With the festivities concluded, the Warrior of Light returned to the Aftcastle to report to the uma bugyo. Observing the bond that had formed between them, the uma bugyo requested that the Warrior of Light take the unicolt along on future travels.

Behind the scenes

With the use of third-party tools, it is possible to observe that the uma bugyo shares the exact same appearance characteristics as the ryu bugyo, suggesting that they may be the same delegate. However, there is no in-game evidence that confirms this connection.
