"Top Ride: Water" (formatted as "Top Ride: WATER" in Kirby Air Ride, and also simply referred to as "Water"[2]) is a theme created for Kirby Air Ride, where it is the default music of the eponymous course. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]
Composition[edit]
"Top Ride: Water" is a jaunty theme in G minor that plays at roughly 148 BPM. Its structure and main melody are especially characteristic of a sea shanty, though it also features several electronic elements.
As previously mentioned, a notable characteristic of the theme is its resemblance to sea shanties in both melody and structure, with its emphasized beats and various takes on the same melodic rhythm and intervals (though it is ultimately closer to a cinematic score in arrangement and instrumentation). While the short, brass-heavy interlude deviates from the ideas of the other sections, it is reminsicent of scores for adventure films, with emphasis placed solely on the brass punctuation and tense arpeggio.

Kirby Air Ride[edit]
In Kirby Air Ride, "Top Ride: Water" plays exclusively in the eponymous course, and is its only music option when the course's alternate music has not been unlocked. "Top Ride: Water" will become available as track 31 in the Sound Test by completing the following Checklist task:

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]
In Kirby: Planet Robobot, the original rendition of "Top Ride: Water" can be heard in Overload Ocean - Stage 7 EX, where it plays during the fifth area of the stage. After clearing Meta Knightmare Returns, it can be played in the Jukebox as track 119.
Kirby Air Riders[edit]
While the course does not return in Kirby Air Riders, "Top Ride: Water" can be purchased in the Miles Shop for 750 Miles, making it available in the Music Player and My Music. Here, it is simply referred to as "Water".
Other appearances[edit]
"Top Ride: Water" is incorporated into the medley "Driving Star", arranged by Megumi Ohara for Kirby Memorial Arrangements. It is arranged in a funkier jazz style, with lead flute and brass backed by electric guitar chords and Hammond organ.
