"Steel Beat"[2] is a stage theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot. It was composed by Hirokazu Ando.[1]
Composition[edit]

"Steel Beat" is in the key of C minor and 4/4 time. Perhaps its most identifiable element is the percussive industrial loop that persists throughout the track, resembling the sound of a moving train on tracks—appropriate for the train setting. The melody is rhythmically simple and drawn out, which stands in contrast to the erratic rhythm of the synth bass and kalimba that provide harmony. There are three notable parts to the composition: the initial melody, which plays twice; a second section that introduces new instrumentation and a new progression; and a third section leading into the loop with just kalimba, bass, and intensified percussion.
"Steel Beat" was a reference track for "Fast-Flowing Waterworks" by Yuki Shimooka, which takes after its industrial percussion and melodic sense.[3]
Trivia[edit]
- The internal filename for "Steel Beat" is
karankoron, a Japanese onomatopoeia for a clanging sound such as the one in the track.

(Kumazaki) When I was first asked to review it, the rhythm was the main element and the sense of melody was weak. From there, I asked Shimooka to use Ando-san's "Steel Beat" from Kirby: Planet Robobot as a reference.
