"Access Ark"[2] is a theme from Kirby: Planet Robobot that plays in the level hub of Access Ark, also appearing as track 079 in the Jukebox. It was composed by Jun Ishikawa.[1]

Composition[edit]

Kirby prepares to raid the company's headquarters.

"Access Ark" is a tense piece set in A minor and 9/8 with heavily electronic instrumentation. Unlike the rest of the game's level hub themes, it does not feature "The Noble Haltmann" in any capacity. A notable trait of this theme is its metrically loose melody, where only the accompaniment gives a clear bar structure. The track starts with a one bar monophonic intro, after which many layers enter at once. The melody follows a descending pattern of quickly alternating notes, balanced out by a high-pitched rising chord in between phrases; the melody's later development shifts its direction, instead circling in place. Each phrase goes through a different key: A minor, D minor, B minor and B-flat minor. The instrumentation becomes progressively harsher-sounding, eventually leading to noisy oscilations. The piece ends with three standalone percussive hits in hemiola rhythm, after which the track loops from the second bar.

Acciss Arcs
This is the Japanese name of the Access Ark area proper. The term is likely derived from "access arm", which is the physical arm of a disk reader that moves the laser which reads and writes data. It may also involve "axis" and "arc", terms commonly used in graph theory; the Access Ark's points create a series of circular arcs around the axis defined by the ship.
