"Neo Star: Stage Select"[conjectural title] is the stage select theme for Neo Star from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It was composed by Jun Ishikawa.[1]

Composition[edit]

A map of the prehistoric jungle planet.

"Neo Star: Stage Select" is a theme in A Dorian mode and 4/4 time with heavy percussion and a deep bass. Due to just being a stage select theme, it's a rather short track. Its melody consists of repeating rising seconds in Dorian mode, alternating between vii-i and vi-i. Each subsequent section is played in a higher key (A, C and D Dorian) while featuring distinct lower-pitched instruments: from a soft woodwind to a loud and brisk synth, and then finishing in the bass register.

Game appearances[edit]

In Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, the original version of the theme can be heard in New Challenge Stages during the tutorial screens for the Fighter Combat Chamber, Smash Combat Chamber and Smash Combat Chamber EX.

Kirby: Planet Robobot[edit]
