Resisting Everything but Temptation

Day 8, for resonant: Some characters you love as characters and couldn't bear to spend five minutes with if they were real people?

This was surprisingly difficult for me. I kind of distinguish between villains that I love as villains (Kronos, Thrawn, [12 Monkeys character redacted], Lilah Morgan), villains I find genuinely lovable and possibly redeemable (Crowley, Catra), and characters I genuinely love, but wouldn't want to be around even for five minutes.

In the last category...

Boyd Crowder (Justified)
I genuinely love him, and can see the tragic aspect of the man he became, but wouldn't want to be around him for even five minutes, because a) likelihood of getting shot, high, and b) welll...everything else. Outside of those particular stories I read guiltily, I don't actually believe he's redeemable.

Deacon (12 Monkeys)
I'm already starting to see a pattern, here. The level of violence and cynicism these guys bring to the party is just too much for lil ol me. Too stressful. But I love him! In the right circumstances, I would be cool with hanging out with Deacon, but the likelihood of those circumstances seems low.

Sonny Steelgrave (Wiseguy)
See above! But I wouldn't mind being in the same room as him as an unnoticed observer. :) Would be good for the entertainment value. (I thought Al Swearengen would fit in this category, too...although, actually, I would probably enjoy meeting him.)

Charles Vane (Black Sails)
Yup, a definite pattern. Although...hm. Okay, I can think of one way I would like to spend five minutes with him.

Angel (Angel)
What would we talk about? We would both be SUPER awkward.

Most of my fandoms, I love them all too much for this list! Would I be embarrassingly tongue-tied around most of them? Absolutely. Would I be nervous around Hannibal Lecter? Yes. But it would be worth it.

I've never been able to participate in Festivids, but when I saw mlyn's pinch hit come up at the last minute, I couldn't resist claiming it. One of her vid requests was this gorgeous song that she wanted for Joanie and Jane from Deadwood, and I loved the idea, so I started working on that right away -- but as often happens with last minute pinch hits, it turned out she got two excellent Deadwood vids as treats, and one of them used almost all the same clips that were in my WIP, so I ditched it and made a truly last-minute Appaloosa vid, instead:

I still love her Jane/Joanie song, though. You should still make that, M'lyn! Or we could. :) And oh, my God, am I in love with Everett Hitch (and Viggo Mortensen, and Ed Harris) right now. That's the worst part of sekrit exchange type things -- you can't share your squee over the source! I've been reading and re-reading the books for two weeks, and am all stars-in-eyes over the awesome deliciousness that is Everett and Virgil. They are so much in love. And so goddamned competent. And adorable. And did I mention in love?

In other news, Courts of Honor is done. Still some last-minute formatting and details to tweak, but it's done! Look for an announcement this week.

Day 19 - Best TV show cast

I gave some thought to Deadwood, Rome, and Band of Brothers for this one, with Deadwood the only serious contender -- only because so many of the shows I love don't have the kind of budget for that many amazing actors. Shows like Highlander, Miracles, Firefly, Sons of Anarchy, Friday Night Lights, White Collar -- I don't think it's fair to compare them, honestly (my current mad crush on Tiffani Amber Thiessen notwithstanding).

For the most part, I adored the cast of Deadwood, and there was so much talent there it was truly an embarrassment of riches. But no other show had such a huge, sprawling cast as The Wire, and I can't think of a single actor on that show, no matter how small the part, who didn't nail it.

Day 09 - Best scene ever

Melina is so right, this one is hard. Even shows that are badly flawed can have moments of genius, and I thought of so many possible answers to this, it made my head hurt. The first three that came to mind:
