Day 8, for [personal profile] resonant: Some characters you love as characters and couldn't bear to spend five minutes with if they were real people?

This was surprisingly difficult for me. I kind of distinguish between villains that I love as villains (Kronos, Thrawn, [12 Monkeys character redacted], Lilah Morgan), villains I find genuinely lovable and possibly redeemable (Crowley, Catra), and characters I genuinely love, but wouldn't want to be around even for five minutes.

In the last category...

Boyd Crowder (Justified)
I genuinely love him, and can see the tragic aspect of the man he became, but wouldn't want to be around him for even five minutes, because a) likelihood of getting shot, high, and b) welll...everything else. Outside of those particular stories I read guiltily, I don't actually believe he's redeemable.

Deacon (12 Monkeys)
I'm already starting to see a pattern, here. The level of violence and cynicism these guys bring to the party is just too much for lil ol me. Too stressful. But I love him! In the right circumstances, I would be cool with hanging out with Deacon, but the likelihood of those circumstances seems low.

Sonny Steelgrave (Wiseguy)
See above! But I wouldn't mind being in the same room as him as an unnoticed observer. :) Would be good for the entertainment value. (I thought Al Swearengen would fit in this category, too...although, actually, I would probably enjoy meeting him.)

Charles Vane (Black Sails)
Yup, a definite pattern. Although...hm. Okay, I can think of one way I would like to spend five minutes with him.

Angel (Angel)
What would we talk about? We would both be SUPER awkward.

Most of my fandoms, I love them all too much for this list! Would I be embarrassingly tongue-tied around most of them? Absolutely. Would I be nervous around Hannibal Lecter? Yes. But it would be worth it.

If you haven't already, please pick a day and ask me anything you like. ♥

2020, I will not miss you. The last time I posted here (other than about Yuletide) was back in July. A lot's happened in my life since then—none of it good. Still, my family is healthy, I still have a roof over my head and food to eat, and I'm reminded every day of the kindness and grace of my friends.

I have one fannish resolution for 2021—to finish writing something just for me, not for a story exchange or fandom challenge. I love writing gifts and responding to challenges, but it's been, at this point, years since I wrote anything just because I really wanted to. I'm challenging myself to write something with no deadline and no recipient. Let's see if I can. :)

Fannish end-of-the-year meme, nibbled from [personal profile] musesfool:

Your main fandom this year? Well, I haven't produced much of anything, so that's hard to say. I've had fannish feelings about a lot of things (Black Sails, Killjoys, 12 Monkeys, Supernatural—the finale, omg!, Being Erica, The Great, She-Ra, Julie and the Phantoms, as well as my perpetual oldies-but-goodies). I think for sheer passion, the SPN finale has to take it by a nose over 12 Monkeys.

Your favorite film watched this year? The Old Guard, hands down.

Your favorite book read this year? I haven't read many. But [personal profile] destina sent me The House in the Cerulean Sea for my birthday, and it was damn near perfect.

Your favorite tv show of the year? For things that actually aired this year, I'll go with Julie and the Phantoms. I can't believe it only started airing in September. I've watched it four times already.

Your best new fandom discovery of the year? Hmm. Gosh, there are a lot, what with all the extra time for watching things. I'll say Black Sails.

Your biggest fandom disappointment? I think it's probably that Stumptown got canceled, honestly. I understand why, given this year, but it took me by surprise, and I'm still pretty bummed about it.

Your tv boyfriend of the year? Oh, so many! Hmm. I'll go with José Ramse (12 Monkeys). Not a new boyfriend, per se, but definitely one who's made me happy.

Your tv girlfriend of the year? Also difficult! I think I'll say Erica Strange from Being Erica. (Not a new show, but one I discovered this year.) Catra from She-Ra a close second.

Your biggest squee moment of the year? Okay, so, the SPN finale was *flail!* —but I don't know if squee is the word I would use. For sheer squee factor, it has to be SHE-RA BECAUSE THEY DID THE THING. They did the thing.

The most missed of your old fandoms? I never really leave fandoms, so. :D (Maybe Haven? I've been having nostalgic feelings about it lately, even though it broke my heart a lot.)

The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to? Guardian. I started, but didn't get very far before I got distracted. It's still very much on my "make time for this" list, though.

Happy New Year, y'all. Please, let it be a better one for everyone.

Hey, fan friends! I have...not posted here in a long ass time. I haven't written or vidded anything in a couple of years, either, except for a couple of short SPN challenge fics, and my brief flurries of Highlander fic each year at the holidays. (Thank you, [community profile] hlh_shortcuts!) I'd really love to write something again, but I feel so out of touch. Is there anything you'd like to see more of in the following fandoms, or any story I've written that you'd like to see continued? At this point, I have many that I've started follow-ups for, but never got very far. Some that are just vague ideas. I'm taking prompts/suggestions/requests! I'd really like to dig into something substantial, as I haven't done that in years. Please give me a nudge?

I'm also nearly at the end of a post-S4 Supernatural rewatch, in which I actually think I've finally watched all the episodes. I've enjoyed it far more than I expected, and found much more to love than I remembered. At this point, I'm kind of heart-eyes for the whole series all over again, despite its flaws and foibles.

So, fandoms I'm always game for:

Jeremiah
Highlander
Supernatural
Miracles
12 Monkeys (TV)

Fandoms I'd be open to, especially for crossovers:

ST:TOS
ST: Discovery
ST: Picard
Being Erica (this is a new fannish love!)
Black Sails
Lost Girl
Killjoys

Casting my line out, hoping for a bite or two. ♥ Life is A Lot, right now. Just looking for a path to distraction.

stolen from [personal profile] minim_calibre :)

The one who seduced you, screwed you over, broke your heart in a million pieces, and laughed about it.

HAVEN. I'm still bitter about it, mostly because it was a tiny fandom to begin with—the least it could have done is not be THAT GUY.

The old flame you don't see very often any more but whom you still really enjoy getting together with for a few drinks and maybe a pleasant nostalgic romp:

Supernatural. Occasional pleasant nostalgic romp is exactly where I'm at with it.

The mysterious dark one whom you used to sit up with talking until 3 AM at weird coffee houses and with whom you were quite smitten until you realized they really were fucking crazy:

Magicians. With a little "broke your heart in a million pieces" stirred in.

The one you spent a whole weekend in bed with and who drank up all your liquor and whom you'd still really like to get with again, although you're relieved they don't actually live in town:

2 Guns. Don't ask me.

The steady:

Highlander, obviously.

The alluring stranger whom you've flirted with at parties but have never gotten really serious with:

Hannibal. But I'm trying, [personal profile] destina, I swear!

The one you hang out with and have vague fantasies about maybe having a thing with, but ultimately you're just good buddies:

Longmire.

The one your friends keep introducing you to and who seems like a hell of a cool person except it's never really gone anywhere:

MCU.

The one who's slept with all your friends, and you keep looking at them and thinking, "How the hell did they land all these cool people?"

Ummmm...I'll go with Teen Wolf!

The one who gave you the best damned summer of your life and against whom you measure all other potential partners:

Jeremiah. (Or Merlin. I need a new category for Merlin.) ETA: Nope, I missed the obvious answer, here: Xena, of course!

The one you recently met at a party and would like to get to know better:

Black Sails! ♥

The old flame that you wouldn't totally object to hooking up with again for a one night romp if only they'd clean up a bit:

Kirk/Spock, for sure—or Trek in general, any flavor.

Your hot new flame:

Roswell, New Mexico.

The one who stole your significant other:

Oh, so many. Smallville? SGA? Harry Potter? MCU? The offenses are endless.
