Day 09 - Best scene ever

Melina is so right, this one is hard. Even shows that are badly flawed can have moments of genius, and I thought of so many possible answers to this, it made my head hurt. The first three that came to mind:

-- but since it's a meme about TV shows and those are all from the movies, that felt like cheating.

I thought about the scene that made me a Buffy fan ("The Gift"):

The scene that made me an Angel fan ("Power Play"):

The scene that made me forever and always a Miracles fan ("Paul Is Dead"):

Of course, no scene ever made me cry as much as this scene from Supernatural ("All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 2"):

The choice of my heart is (predictably), the Jimmy scene from Highlander's "Comes a Horseman," 1996:

But the category is best scene, not favorite. And so, in the end, I have to go with this sequence from Deadwood. The episode is "Here was a Man," season 1, episode 4, and there is only one line of dialogue. It still gives me chills.

Best scene ever... until I change my mind. :D

Some of the shows I haven't seen, but I so agree with the Trek moments, particularly the first one which is not just a great K/S moment, but is the shift in Spock's personality and development for the rest of the series. After that he seems to develop a peace and self-confidence he never had before.

Wow, amazing choices. (Aside from miracles, which I still haven't seen.) Yeah, that scene from Deadwood is INCREDIBLE. The way people become a mob, and everyone perceives it and reacts, body language and touch, voices as a distant ominous roar.

AHBL! And the Jimmy scene! Hell yeah!

And I just started watvhing 'Justified' last night - looks like it'll be a great show.

Good choices. This one was too hard.

It really, really was. I didn't even think about shows I'm not particularly fannish about, like The West Wing and M*A*S*H* -- and I barely scratched the surface of my personal favorites. But as soon as I remembered that Deadwood scene, it felt like the right answer.

Today. *g*

Kind of surprised myself, that those were where my brain went first. Guess in the end, there's no substitute for the ur-Fandom. :D

Paul is Dead! Paul is Dead! Sam is Dead! Oh wait... (Yeah that SPN scene slayed me too. And the GIFT? /wibble/)

I don't remember the Angel scene. What happens in that ep?

You know with all this Highlander pimpage I may have to put aside my Christopher Lambert adoring and give the TV show another go.

I don't remember the Angel scene. What happens in that ep?

It's the second to last episode, where Angel decides to make his crazy play to take down Wolfram & Hart. He gathers everyone in his office and asks them who's willing to join him on his suicide play.

"10-to-1, we're gone when the smoke clears. They will do everything in their power to destroy us. So...I need you to be sure. Power endures. We can't bring down the senior partners, but for one bright, shining moment, we can show them that they don't own us. You need to decide for yourselves if that's worth dying for. I can't order you to do this. I can't do it without you. So we'll vote. As a team. Think about what I'm asking you to do, think about what I'm asking you to give."

I love how they are all positioned in that perfect five-pointed circle, with so much space between them. Each of them has to make the decision for himself. The team is really broken at that point, but somehow, Angel pulls them together.

Ahh... I remember what was said pretty much, but I didn't remember them raising their hands to vote.

So it took you to the penultimate episode to become a fan? Or is that just the scene that makes you proudest you're a fan or something?

I only started watching in season 5. I knew a lot of what had happened because of [livejournal.com profile] sockkpuppett's vids, and hearing her talk about the show. But I started watching in S5, and it was this episode that won my heart.
