Terraria (2011)
15 Nov 2024 12:03 pmWhen my friends suggested this could be a fun game to play together, I discovered it was already in my Steam library with 30 hours on it, which briefly confused me until I remembered that I'd bought it for my kid to play when they were too young to have their own account. This unearthed afterschool memories of watching them bounce around a 2D landscape fighting monsters, exploring underground caves, building bases, and explaining strategies which I definitely would not remember 13 years later.

Fortunately, one of my friends had played through the game before, though it had been a while, so we had at least some guidance. And fifty-odd hours later, we have beaten the final boss! It doesn't have to be a game about beating bosses, though, unless you want it to be.

Terraria is available on Steam for $9.99 USD, which I think is a steal for a game with so much content and replayability. I do realize this is one of the best-selling video games of all time, so if you were interested you probably weren't waiting on my recommendation. But I recommend it nonetheless!
