This year I posted 36 fics in 11 fandoms, for a total of 40,028 words. That's three more fics than last year, but 16,000 fewer words, which reflects the fact that I wrote more drabbles and other short things.

I continued to enjoy writing mostly for exchanges. The inspiration from the prompts and the hard deadlines work well for me, so I plan to keep it going in 2022.

I was proud of most of what I wrote this year, though sometimes outside stress from RL stuff made it hard to focus, and there were times when I was struggling and had to settle for stories being done rather than perfect. But on the other hand, sometimes being able to lose myself in a story or a character was a welcome break from RL stress, and a means of feeling like at least I was accomplishing and contributing something despite other challenges. Writing is work, but it's empowering work. That has always been true for me, and it was especially true this year.

Hello everyone! I've had a pretty rough week of vaccine side-effects, but I'm finally doing better now, and just in time for multifandomdrabble reveals. This round totaled 752 entries in 327 fandoms. :o I didn't get to write as many drabbles as I'd hoped, but I was very generously gifted with several delightful ones. There's supposed to be another round later this summer, so I hope to put the scales back in balance then. :)

This was a gift fic for me (♥♥♥) so I may be biased, but I loved this perceptive glimpse of two people who have spent their lives listening.


A Serious Thing (G, William Riker/Deanna Troi, 4444 words) by flowerdeluce
summary: Deanna Troi has never met a chocolate she didn't like. Or five times Deanna enjoyed chocolate (or something chocolate adjacent.)

If you like this pairing even a little, run, do not walk, to read this fic. It's a joyful, insightful, and inventive exploration of their relationship and what makes them so good together. I felt so comforted and relaxed reading it.


Nothing Lost That May Be Found (G, Laris & Kimara Cretak, 8883 words) by little_brisk
summary: A summer party, a large group of friends, and the unbridgeable divide of one unthinkable catastrophe.

I was blown away by the depth and craft of this fic. The author weaves together the personalities and histories of PIC, DS9, and TNG with great deftness, putting these two Romulan women in the context of a whole world and social web that feels very rich, complex, and real. The dialogue is wonderfully grown-up, challenging both the characters and the reader to think about the meaning of loyalty, dissent, and betrayal. Nothing is easy or simple—not among Romulans, and not in this thoughtful and beautifully written fic.

I wrote a lot here in case you're looking for ideas, but I'm really very easygoing and open to many different kinds of stories, so please don't feel like you're limited to only my suggestions. I like gen fic as well as pairings and threesomes of all categories. I like G-rated or fade-to-black fic as well as smutty or kinky fic. I like fic that's light or funny as well as fic that's serious or dark (or dark and funny!). Unusual structures and styles are fine by me (first person POV, second person POV, nonlinear, experimental, etc.) but more conventional storytelling works great too. You can't go wrong just writing what interests you and whatever feels natural for your writing style. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
