Let's see if I can remember all of the cross stitch I did since the last time.

2 merkitties, teal and green
6 spooky cats: ghost, skeleton, bat, vampire, Frankenstein, mummy
Darth Vader, choking hazard
almost finished with a capybarista

Going to make a Digger cross stitch or two, and try to give at least one to UV at Worldcon.

Made a round kitty, a further adaptation of the dino-kitty pattern. Tail is too low, and I'm not sure it needs the back legs. Tail is also too thin, although the very fluffy fur on this one disguises the problem.

Thinking about renaming the dino-kitty to kittysaurus. This would be a better match for the Jurassic Bark that I now want to make. (Probably--almost certainly--Dalmatian fur. CR's Crafts has it.)

Pushmi-pullyu, but a pig: Pushmi-pigyu.

Mayhaps variants:
Dino-kitty: ears, slit eyes, whiskers
Round kitty: above plus cat tail, four little legs
(redesign the legs to go in seams, also round kitty's tail)

colors for the kitties: white, gray, black, Siamese, tortoiseshell, etc.

Took that stained glass weekend class again, with a different instructor. We were able to make free-form pieces instead of a panel. I made: the teddy bear that I desperately wanted, a great bat, and a little black Halloween cat.

Painted the cats in the window that I've been thinking of. Managed to get four and a half in, not just four, although the extra half is a kitten. Mottled tortie/calico on a black base, solid gray (in my head it's a gray tux, but only the back is visible), seal point Siamese, white with black spots, calico kitten. I think this is the best painting I've done so far. Certainly my favorite.

I also started a winter scene, with white ground and blue-white sky. Not sure what else goes on it. Something will come to me.

Acrylics class at the library today, probably the last one I will do. I really like the cat in the window. I wish I had dared pattern it, like some people did; I guess I'll have to do more.

Another void painting, with the other cat silhouette that I had cut out. This one has eyes! There's a nebula in the upper left corner; I think it came out well.

Going to try a supernova painting. Thought about making it a cat shape (thought of it while doing this last painting), but I think I will refrain.

The stippling did NOT work, although I managed a tiny galaxy with a regular, small brush. Painted over the canvas about three times, and finally made a space/sky/star cat: black silhouette on starry background. Too many stars, but it works. Might do another one with a different cat shape, one with open eyes. Or not.

On to other things!

Finally picked up the little cat I was crocheting more than two years ago. I had finished the body at the time, but not the rest.

I had forgotten how to crochet.

I remembered fairly quickly, but I am very inept. And all of the bits came out terribly uneven. The muzzle is the worst; I think I must have misread the directions.

Anyway, I need to do some simple things next, to practice.

Completed the bookmark!

Note to self: the edges are stripey.

Further note: all 14-count aida cloth is not identical. One side of the bookmark is slightly longer, despite being the same number of stitches on the same count aida.

Finished the second cats on shelves bookmark. Now I just need to trim the edges and sew them together back to back.

Once again, I screwed up the counting slightly. But I was able to adjust the second kitten so that no one will know but me.

Finished the Motley cross stitch, featuring my childhood cat. I had intended to make a full length portrait, but I screwed up the proportions despite gridding it, so I scaled down the plan. It looks great, though.

Double-stranding a too-dark brown with a variegated brown/cream worked magnificently. I will definitely have to try that again if occasion arises.

Aida cloth gridded for the Motley cross stitch. This is going to take awhile

Made the Kitty in Pink necklace. The stones are rhodonite and pink opal. I had to choose carefully which beads I used, because a lot of the opal in particular was the wrong color and/or had ugly dark inclusions. (The rhodonite is darker, but the lightest pieces of that were very similar in shade to the darkest pieces of opal.)

I had almost forgotten how to use head pins. It will take practice to get good at working with them again.

Intensive two-day stained glass workshop. Made the peacock panel that I designed a couple of years ago, also two small cat ornaments (blue and purple). They all came out very well.

Now I want to make a teddy bear panel, although it's 10-12 pieces (instead of the official limit of 9). In a few years, maybe.

Not quite finished with beading after all. Turns out I have lots of space in the Balticon art show, so I made the purple fish earrings, plus a necklace out of one of the other two-piece cats.

The cat necklace is a bit shorter than I had intended--barely 18"--but it works. The cat is blue and brown, so I used rutilated quartz chips and some blue quartzite chips.

I have three more cats: brown, pink, and aqua. Now (or rather, later this year) I want to make them all into necklaces. Plans--
brown: the rest of the quartz, plus some brown chips [tiger-eye!]
pink: rose quartz, and maybe something a little darker but still pink [pink opal looks promising; I bought some rose quartz but it's barely pink at all]
aqua: the rest of the quartzite, which is aqua and lighter blue, plus maybe some white [white turquoise, howlite, or possibly marble]

I'm not doing a quilt next after all, because I'd need more panel space. Haven't quite decided which stuffed animal, though. I should make the gingham dog; I might make the Doctor Goose (Canada goose); the stealth skunk, the Borg-i, and the hell poodle are all clamoring to be made soon. [starting the gingham dog (beagle) this afternoon]

Made myself a lanyard out of sodalite, 8mm round beads and 12mm stars. The stars are almost white; most of the rounds are fairly dark. For a focal bead on the drop, I used one of the two-piece lampwork cats--the blue one. It goes very well with the beads.

I discovered today that I can get 2" sodalite cat beads. Those would be great, but they're expensive (~$18 for 2) and would require bigger beads to go with. If I'd found them before, I might have re-envisioned this, but not at the last minute.

That's it for jewelry for a while. (Although if I wind up with *lots* of room at Balticon, I might make a few more things.) Up next: a quilt.

Finished making the Sphinx kitten. It came out very well.

Made the Ferdy kitten. Came out well.

The fur I was going to use for Sphinx doesn't work. I have a peach that might be okay, but I'm waiting on eyes.
