Intensive two-day stained glass workshop. Made the peacock panel that I designed a couple of years ago, also two small cat ornaments (blue and purple). They all came out very well.

Now I want to make a teddy bear panel, although it's 10-12 pieces (instead of the official limit of 9). In a few years, maybe.

Made--and picked up today--two more fused glass coasters. These don't have feet, because the blade of my knife gets caught under the first batch; I finally figured out that that's how I kept spilling my entire glass of milk.

I also started a double-sided fleece vest, which I was seized with a desire to make, last week.

My website is now updated with all of the glass, and the jewelry through last Christmas. Still to come: the rest of the jewelry, and the stuffed animals since January's update. I'd like to get at least the jewelry up by the end of July/August, but we'll see.

A whole bunch of fused glass last night:

two more coasters (total of four this fall)
night sky plate
8" trivet
business card holder
night light
pair of earrings
eight pendants

Most of the jewelry will eventually be Christmas presents.

At Musecon, I made:

a small woodcarving (Celtic knot in a chunk of wood)
two chain mail pendants
a small stained glass diamond
two blinkies--atom and Orion
a large stained glass panel
a beaded bracelet
a few inches worth of card-woven belt-ish...stuff (which I'm not going to bother to finish)
a tribble (it had three of four darts done beforehand, but I finished it in class)

Now plotting another chain mail pendant, if I can get the right rings by Saturday morning at the latest. Probably eventually going to make more chain mail--bracelet? necklace? key ring?

Corning Museum of Glass, five possible projects (plus one):

Glass-blowing (again): Pumpkin--orange with a few red spots. I like it!

Fusing (again): Clock. Okay, two clocks.
First: night sky with Milky Way (very successful) and Orion (should have done white stars, not blue with yellow shoulder like the online pictures), with green face (red or yellow would have been better). Good but could be better.
Second: Calico cat, as planned for a bowl. Eyes on face, using frit worked well. Orange frit a bit lighter than orange chunks, but that's minor. I like it!

Glassforming: Flower--white with blue edges and green stem. I like it!

Flameworking: Pendant--white base with black and red swirls. (Should I have stuck with the blues and purple?) The most hands-on of all the projects, and the most satisfying to do. I like it!

Sandblasting: Drinking glass--sea creatures around the top edge, then a line around and vertical lines in the ripples. I wanted cats and/or rabbits, but they didn't have those stickers. (Almost wishing I'd done a bowl instead.) I like it!

---------------
New glass (fusing) projects that I'll probably never do: a set of astronomical bowls--black background, white stars--Big Dipper, Orion (again, better), plus two out of Milky Way (again), Pleiades, crescent moon.

The other pieces from the glass fusing class came out great. The dolphin piece is not curved enough for a true bowl, but rather rounded for a plate. But it looks good. The napkin holder--pressed into service to hold a notepad and pencil--looks terrific. And the pendants are marvelous. I want to make one more pendant, but that's probably it.

When I went in this morning to pick things up, I also made two more 7" square plates. (These should be much flatter.) They are the same pattern, a simple nine-patch quilt pattern, using the swirly glass. One has a white base/background with both the blue and green for the design, the other has a green base with just the blue. I was tempted to make another with the swirly orange as a base, but the blue is slightly translucent and would turn muddy on that, so I refrained.

I'm glad I didn't use the orange for a plate. One of the pendants used the orange, and it turned brown in the kiln. Its intended recipient will still like it, but it's not what I wanted/expected.

The official project for the last glass fusing class was jewelry. They had really cool dichroic glass and montefiore pieces. But they had also gotten in some gorgeous swirly glass, so I opted to make a napkin-holder out of the swirly blue. I finished that way early, so I also made a bunch of pendants to give as Christmas presents. (I had to pay separately for those, because they were extra.) Two to three weeks before I get them back. There's a couple that I'm not sure of; depending on how they come out, I may make a replacement or two, using the specific ideas that I didn't develop until too late.

I'm also refining my other ideas. That will depend in part on continued availability--or not--of some of the swirly glass.

For the second glass fusing class, I made a dolphin "bowl", 7" square. The official project was birds, but we could do whatever we wanted. Last week was a 10" flower plate. Mine came out great.

One more class. I may skip the jewelry in favor of another plate. Quilt block or stained glass?

Gar! Since the first glass fusing class on Thursday, my mind is overflowing with projects I'd like to make. They have square bases and circles, of varying sizes. At least some of them can be made into plates and bowls. I don't know if they have colored bases, or if those have to be clear. [Edit: they have clear, white, and black.]

I'd love a set of four dessert plates:
quilt block(s)
pieced sailboat
teddy bear
dolphin? (I'm really picturing this as a bowl, but a plate would work, too)
cat?? (maybe pieced)
"stained glass" (pattern to be decided)
[I know that's more than four.]

Or bowls:
dolphin (I'm picturing this white on dark blue, or the other way around)
Plus some of the following if I'm making a set:
teddy bear
cat
sailboat
"stained glass"

Or do I want to make some as Christmas presents?
--------------
I'll calm down later. Really.
