Been quite a while since I posted, hasn't it?

Just finished the CareBearUs. The heads fit the neck, but not next to each other. I should have made the neck on the middle one another six inches longer, not just the two I used.

I made a bunch of masks, including some for friends and for my sister.

New ideas: white rat (God of Lawyers, from T. Kingfisher), wire-wrapping sea glass--necklace to be called Sea King's Dream

Mostly I've been too tired to do much. I'll do the belated mid-year reports sooner or later.

Another pair of earrings this afternoon: Raccoon Blues, the royal blue enamel raccoons with blue beads above and below. They look terrific.

Also a necklace this afternoon: Is That a Dagger I See Before Me?, another of those silvery swords on a chain of the blood-stained beads. Also quite good.

And I snipped the backs off of three of the fairy tale buttons and glued a pin-back to one (the book) and bails to two (knight and princess). The glue needs to set for at least 24 hours, so we'll see how well they come out later.

Made the Swordheart necklace yesterday. Ursula retweeted it! Someone asked about purchase, so I put it up on Etsy. No sale yet.

Also yesterday, six pairs of earrings: flying pigs, bronse dragons, enamel mermaids, enamel unicorns with pink manes, another set of cats in teacups, and "origami" unicorns.

Today I made Mom's necklace, with the bright fused glass pendant and seed beads in a rainbow of colors.

New necklace idea: What Is That Dagger I See Before Me--sword pendant on a chain of the "blood-spattered" beads interspersed with smaller black ones. Not sure if that one is this afternoon, or if I'm going to make a few more earrings today instead.

Made three sets of earrings and a necklace today. And had a seriously wonderful idea for yet another necklace.

Earrings: Octopus's Garden, When Pigs Fly, Purr-ple (with resin cats--had trouble with the beading wire on these)
Necklace: Up, Up, and Away! (lots of lampwork balloons

New idea: Swordheart necklace, with the red jasper heart and one of the sword charms. Probably strung on red seed beads.

Finished the Playing Dice with the Universe necklace. It came out well. I have at least one more necklace up my sleeve, but first I'm going to make some earrings.

I finished the two squirrels, Goth and Ratatoskr. The Goth came out better; I got Ratty's left eye and ear in the wrong places.

I made two purple necklaces yesterday, and the Forest Heart one so far today. Going to do more this afternoon, after I dye my gray hair teal.

Made two sets of earrings: chihuahuas and silvery crescent moons.
Also made a necklace: braided cord with small lampwork glass dogs. Problem: the dogs are top-heavy and aren't going to want to stay upright when worn.
All three of these are holiday presents.

I was going to make a cord-and-bead necklace for me, too, but the cord I bought is a tiny bit too thick. Slightly thinner cord now on order.

I might make a bit more jewelry tomorrow. Or I might not.

Made the Rocket to the Stars necklace; it probably will fit on the panel at Balticon. Worst case, I can probably squeeze it onto the end of the table. It came out really well.

And I strung the beautiful blue/green glass pendant that the dealer gave me last year. Tiny black beads interspersed with bigger ones of black with blue/green/yellow flashes.

That's the last of the jewelry for a while. On to blouses and a skirt!

Rocket to the Stars: that single pewter-ish rocket charm on a chain of the tiny sodalite stars.

I won't have room for this at Balticon, I don't think, so I shouldn't make it yet. But I might anyway.

I had one more milky white agate crescent moon (the others are all yellowish or have lines across) and suddenly decided to make a necklace to go with the earrings. I used the tiny whitish glass beads, the ones with a bit of rainbow in them. 24". It's gorgeous.

That's going to be it for the day, but I do want to make another 2-3 pairs of earrings and at least one more necklace before I go back to sewing.

Made a few quick pairs of earrings after dinner: owls (a find at JoAnn's, still waiting to make the ones I had already), skeletons (which I had forgotten that I had), and dinosaur skeletons. What took the longest was finding the silver-y earwires that I had bought and not put away yet.

Also remade a necklace from the beads a co-worker gave me. It's not the same as before, and I have some hematite left over, but I think she'll like it. (She didn't ask me to remake it, just gave me the beads.)

Used the brassy dragon claw in a necklace. Black jasper chips for the beads. It came out well, although I didn't have as much jasper as I thought, plus I had trouble with the clasp and had to remove a couple of beads to get it to work. So it's a bit shorter that I wanted, at 22" counting the clasp.

The second claw is silvery with a clear glass globe. Obviously the white magic counterpart.

Note to self: Crimp the tubes before you try to tuck the ends of the wire in, dumbass!

Used the big lacy agate pendant to make a necklace. The beads are white crackle quartz (thought it was glass at first) and pale aqua crackle glass. With the clasp, it's 24". I would have made it a bit longer, but didn't have more beads. (Probably could have gotten more at a different Michaels, but decided that this worked.)

Made Bears Discover Fire. The stones are chips of (dyed) red coral. Eight bears, mostly browns with one dark red-brown and one white with a few black veins. It could have stood to be longer, but 19" is okay.

Made the Kitty in Pink necklace. The stones are rhodonite and pink opal. I had to choose carefully which beads I used, because a lot of the opal in particular was the wrong color and/or had ugly dark inclusions. (The rhodonite is darker, but the lightest pieces of that were very similar in shade to the darkest pieces of opal.)

I had almost forgotten how to use head pins. It will take practice to get good at working with them again.

Not quite finished with beading after all. Turns out I have lots of space in the Balticon art show, so I made the purple fish earrings, plus a necklace out of one of the other two-piece cats.

The cat necklace is a bit shorter than I had intended--barely 18"--but it works. The cat is blue and brown, so I used rutilated quartz chips and some blue quartzite chips.

I have three more cats: brown, pink, and aqua. Now (or rather, later this year) I want to make them all into necklaces. Plans--
brown: the rest of the quartz, plus some brown chips [tiger-eye!]
pink: rose quartz, and maybe something a little darker but still pink [pink opal looks promising; I bought some rose quartz but it's barely pink at all]
aqua: the rest of the quartzite, which is aqua and lighter blue, plus maybe some white [white turquoise, howlite, or possibly marble]

I'm not doing a quilt next after all, because I'd need more panel space. Haven't quite decided which stuffed animal, though. I should make the gingham dog; I might make the Doctor Goose (Canada goose); the stealth skunk, the Borg-i, and the hell poodle are all clamoring to be made soon. [starting the gingham dog (beagle) this afternoon]

Today I made three more sets of earrings and a necklace.

Earrings:
TARDIS (with blue bead)
Dalek
mouse on crescent moon

I decided not to make the purple fish one at this time. I need coordinating beads for it anyway.

The necklace is Bones of the Sea: a mermaid skeleton pendant on coral, shells, and green sea sediment jasper. It came out great. If I can find small fish skeletons, I'll make matching earrings. Nah.

I have a lot of charms to make earrings, but I prefer actually beading longer pieces, such as necklaces or maybe bracelets.

Restrung my grandmother's broken necklace today, plus another one that I found on my dresser while I was looking for that one. They both came out well.

I have also spent far too much money on beads in the last couple of weeks.
