I looked through the tags and Googled it, but I haven't been able to find a really clear explanation -- how do I install new fonts in Gimp? I have a Mac running Snow Leopard and am using Gimp 2.6. I downloaded a new font from dafont.com and it's showing up in Font Book but from what I gathered, Gimp pulls from another folder? I've only been using Gimp for about a month and any help would be really appreciated! ^_^
I really like to use the font "Jellyka; Saint-Andrew's Queen" (availible for download through DaFont). When I use it in my Sony Vegas video editor, it works fine, but when I use it in GIMP, it's name shows up in the fonts box, but when I type with it it's just plain old Sans. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling GIMP, but no such luck. Help please!
For some reason, when I install fonts onto my PC, they won't show up on GIMP. My laptop recently broke so I had to shift everything onto the main computer, except now, my fonts won't come onto GIMP.
Have I gone wrong somewhere?

I recently downloaded gimp to my laptop which uses windows xp. My desktop has vista and I've never had any problems installing fonts to gimp but I can't install them onto my laptop.
I added them into the control panel and the all show up fine in word but not in gimp. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but that doesn't work either. How can I get the fonts to show in gimp?
Okay, I just downloaded GIMP a few days ago and I've been fooling around with it. I'm really confused how to upload textures, fonts or brushes. I'm also confused on how to use layers and stuff. Is it kind of like photoshop with the clicking and dragging thing? My sister uses photoshop but I don't. I downloaded GIMP because I heard it was easier so I want to learn the basics and stuff. Do I need to download anything more then just GIMP itself?
Can anyone help me? It will be greatly appreciated. ;;
So, I've had GIMP for about...4 months now and I haven't had any real problems, except I downloaded a bunch of fonts and none of them will load. I'm on a MacBook, and I just don't know if I saved them in the right place or what. Thank you guys!!!!
Every time I try to add new fonts, GIMP won't load them, and shuts down/ won't start up. Whenever I try to restart it, it just freezes when it hits "loading...fonts". Is there anything I can do to get rid of this?? It's really getting annoying. (I've tried re-installing about five times, and it hasn't helped.)
Hi everyone! I just started teaching myself how to use the GIMP last week or so, and I'm doing fine so far, got all the basics down (no small thanks to some of the excellent tutorials posted to this community!), but I'm finding myself desperately font-less! I have only the boring ones that come with the programme itself, and though I've found additional fonts online and put them on my computer, I have no idea how to add them to the GIMP! I tried to find some sort of upload section, I even tried cutting and pasting and dragging--all to no avail!!
Oh, help me, gimp_users! You're my own only hope!
Hi,
I use Gimp for a while now and have by now a lot of fonts on my hard drive. However I don't want Gimp to load those from the Windows fonts folder since I don't use them and save all my fonts in: ...\documents and settings\my files\gimp-2.4\fonts.
Is there a way to avoid loading the Windows fonts? I already tried to change the preferences, but it didn't work.
(Sorry for my English!)
