Studio Liverpool

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

In 2000, Psygnosis was renamed to SCE Studio Liverpool. The studio continued to release new instalments of the Wipeout and Formula 1 game franchises (the latter of which was taken over from Studio 33). On January 29, 2010, Sony made a public statement on restructuring Studio Liverpool. Later on August 22, 2012, after Sony assessed all European studios, they announced the closure of the studio. Their Liverpool studio's website would remain in operation, as it is home to a number of Sony World Wide Studios and SCE Departments. Former employees of the company then formed two independent studios, Firesprite (which Sony had acquired in September 2021) and Playrise Digital.

Animated Logos

1st Logo (June 18, 2002)

Visuals: On a dark periwinkle and black gradient background with various digital-based layers on the periwinkle gradient, a spinning ring is shown in front of the background. All of a sudden, lightning strikes through the ring several times, causing the screen to flash, revealing the Fusion Team logo (consisting of the periwinkle text "FUSION" with a white border and the white "TEAM" in a Helvetica font below) and an outlined white rectangle containing the company name "STUDIO LIVERPOOL", both of which flashes in. Once they are fully revealed, the white PlayStation buttons (a triangle, a circle, a cross and a square) flashes in one-by-one below the outlined rectangle.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: High-pitched laughter, followed by thunderclaps and a one-note ethereal synth tune.

Visuals: A metallic rounded square plate containing a black outlined rounded rectangle on top with the outlines of four arrows (resembling D-pad) in front of a circle with nail holes onto each corner of the shapes. Four sides of a metallic outlined circle then zooms out, while spinning, before it lands onto the plate which causes the scene to pulsates quickly. This is followed by four arrows, which does the same thing as the circle. After a while, a triangle on the top-left corner of the first arrow and the black company name, "STUDIOLiverpool" below the emblem slams onto the plate. It then flashes into a 2D version of the completed logo after a second.

Technique: CGI.

After a few seconds, everything in the digital display disappears, while the text wipes out to the left, and the pink arrow on its left flashes two times before it ends.
