My broken ankle(s)
I never know how to describe what I did to myself - I shattered both bones in my right ankle, so I broke more than one ankle (one on each side), but saying I broke two ankles seems to imply that I broke something on the left also.
I got the cast off on Friday, which is a relief because it was just so . . . immutable, immovable. I have a boot now, but still not allowed to put weight on it for another 6-8 weeks. So no driving. I'm beyond grateful that I live with someone who can 1) drive; and 2) loves me enough to drive me everywhere.
I need to find a physical therapist and get PT started. I'm sure my boss will be super happy that I will miss work on a regular basis.
Up until I fell, one of my workout moves was single leg deadlifts, which is coming in handy now as my left leg is having to do all the work for both legs.
TV Shows
I had started watching The Expanse the night before I fell, which I had resolved to once I read the books. I was going to continue that the other night, but when I opened Prime, I saw that the new season of The Wheel of Time had dropped so I watched the first episode of that instead. I'm disappointed that they cut out the title sequence with the weaving. It was . . . fine. But I don't feel like I'm in the mental place to follow complicated plotlines or try to remember all these people, and who is doing what.
Last night, I decided to try Animal Control (something short and silly), but when I opened Hulu, I saw that Shoresy season 4 was out, so I watched that instead. Perfect!
Moving Again
We are moving again in May. Not across the country this time, just across town. We finally found a permanent place that we are happy with. I knew this rental was temporary, but it's a good place. The thought of moving *again* gives me the shudders, especially since I won't really be able to help with it this time.

Date: 2025-03-16 04:49 pm (UTC)From:(A lady nearby completely shattered her knee last year, she said the kneecap was just in bits. She fell down the stairs and hit it at some horrible angle). I used to see her being brought back from the hospital and wheeled indoors, leg completely immobilised. But she’s walking again now, and I hope it won’t be long before you’re back on (both) feet.

Date: 2025-03-16 05:19 pm (UTC)From:I'm lucky that I had a ton of sick leave banked. My employer used to have "banked time" and I used my entire bank of banked time for recovery from that leg surgery, PT, and then the last bit for recovery from having the plate and screws removed. Now that I am salaried, I just get on and work earlier and then work later on the days I have to do the doctor and/or PT, though for tomorrow's appt I am taking a half day of PTO so I can also go out for breakfast with the Scholar.
How are you feeling, though? My leg seemed like a nauseating shattered boneless tube sock of meat for so long, I had just the worst nightmares and waking horrors about it.

Date: 2025-03-16 09:49 pm (UTC)From:My leg is really the least of my problems right now. I think I did something to myself with the crutches before I got the scooter, because I'm having stabbing, burning pains in my armpits. My shoulders and biceps are killing me, I'm sure because they are taking on the work of my bad leg.
I hate losing my independence with the driving thing.

Date: 2025-03-18 10:01 pm (UTC)From:We just finished watching Skeleton Crew on Disney+, and it was really fun! Great characters (we called it Goonies in Space), and Jude Law absolutely chewing the scenery to pieces, and terrific kid actors. It's not at all brain-consuming, if you want something fun to watch.
Yay on finding your permanent place! We're still here, and likely to be so for the forseeable future, since prices in Portland are... well, insane, and our landlord's happy to have us. I hope the move goes easy!
*hugs*
