seleneheart: the tiny ghost holding nail (Hollow Knight)

  • Day 9: Try a new hobby or craft, even if it's just for 15 minutes - I decided to try stamping my holiday cards. It's a learning process!! But it saved a bunch of time over designing and painting them.

  • Day 10: Read a few pages of a book you've been meaning to start - this one came at a good time. I've been meaning to read The Golden Compass and the rest of His Dark Materials because the daemon AU has been applied to nearly every fandom I've ever been in. I've been wanting to read the source material for a while.

  • Day 11: Put your phone on silent for a short break from notifications - pretty easy, I have most notifications turned off anyway, just from my kids.
seleneheart: (Little Prince and Fox)
I'm getting a lot of repeats here (?)
  • Day 2: Send a virtual hug to someone through email or text message - done, easy peasy

  • Day 3: Take a moment to pet a cat or dog if you have one nearby - I don't, so pass

  • Day 4: Smile at someone as you pass by today - also easy, also done

  • Day 5: Stand up and do a quick stretch if you've been sitting a while - this one came at a good time, because I *had* been sitting for a while, so DONE!

  • Day 6: Send a virtual hug to someone through email or text message - luckily I have lots of people to give virtual hugs to

  • Day 7: Declutter your email inbox by deleting old emails - done, mostly

  • Day 8: Enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee slowly and mindfully - doing at this very moment (another repeat)

Prompts found here: Advent of Joy

In other news, yesterday was the first day without any snow since Thanksgiving Day, November 28.
seleneheart: (birds tree snowflake)
Although I don't participate in the ritual that Advent refers to, this sounds like a lovely idea. Found via [personal profile] spikedluv and [personal profile] a_natural_beauty.

Advent of Joy
from the site: "Have fun this holiday season by completing your daily acts of kindness and self-care."

I'm going to try to keep up.

I texted my niece that I haven't spoken to since we left Texas. The next one was a mindful cup of coffee or tea. Also easy, and almost a daily ritual anyway. We had 8 inches of snow this weekend (so far) thus sitting around being contemplative is almost a requirement.
