killabeez: (deansam one true thing)
If for some reason you haven't seen these, [livejournal.com profile] astartexx and [livejournal.com profile] xandra_ptv have been working on an X-Files vid challenge, where they make one vid for each season of The X-Files. They've made four vids so far, and [livejournal.com profile] astartexx's are both Scully vids:

Metal Heart by Garbage (Season 1)
This one does amazing things with the music, making S1 XF feel fresh and immediate and exciting. It brought back all the feelings I had watching this show live when it first aired.

2-1 by Imogen Heap (Season 2)
And this one is just... I'm without words. I loved it. Emotional, tight, rich and set to an incredibly evocative song. Not to be missed.

In other news, there's a new comm for organizing Sam/Dean and Sam-and-Dean recs: [livejournal.com profile] sd_recs. This pleases me, as I'm still reading the hell out of all the SPN stuff I can get my hands on. Of course, looking at their list of categories reminds me yet again (as always happens with these things) that the stuff I read fanfic for is... not so popular. (Where's the time travel category? The cuddling category? The forced-to-tell-the-truth category? At least there's amnesia, but I've given up hope that anyone else is as obsessed with suicide-themed stories as I am. And I've allllmost given up looking for the post-Swan Song story that I still desperately want to read.) (ETA: And, yes, that is an open invitation to rec me any of those things! :D ETA2: Yes, self-recs are awesome! Lay them on me.)

I did, however, find a beautiful story and a new-to-me author through [livejournal.com profile] spn_littlebro's category links:

older brother, restless soul, lie down by [livejournal.com profile] dime_for_12
This is a post-"And Then There Were None" stream-of-consciousness piece. Sam-girls, this is for you. It's Dean seeing the things he's been trying not to see in his brother, and it's really beautiful. A tiny bit self-indulgent, yes, but in the good way, and gorgeous writing.

The funny thing was, I was just thinking about how nice it would be to be able to follow my favorite authors on AO3, and within about twelve hours, I could do just that. Talk about service!

I'm at [archiveofourown.org profile] killabeez, and I'm amused by the "what's in your queue" question, since that implies that I've been writing or posting anything at all with any regularity the last couple of years. But, I suppose it's likely that there will be more Supernatural soonish, and I have hopes for finishing some Highlander stories (and maybe even posting the rest of Desert Prince) some time this year. How much Supernatural depends a lot on how badly the last few episodes of this season hurt me, and whether it's the kind of hurt that requires fic therapy, or plunges me into a pit of self-hate and despair.

In the meantime, I just finished transferring Darkest Hour over there, which I had not read or given thought to since I finished it. I cleaned up a few things, particularly in the last couple of chapters. Reading that story was so bizarre. It took so freaking long to finish, and now it feels like an alien baby that has none of my actual DNA, or something. Which is, I suppose, fitting.

Livejournal, please stop being eaten by bears!
