Vid recs, story rec
Sep. 1st, 2011 07:33 amIf for some reason you haven't seen these,
astartexx and
xandra_ptv have been working on an X-Files vid challenge, where they make one vid for each season of The X-Files. They've made four vids so far, and
astartexx's are both Scully vids:
Metal Heart by Garbage (Season 1)
This one does amazing things with the music, making S1 XF feel fresh and immediate and exciting. It brought back all the feelings I had watching this show live when it first aired.
2-1 by Imogen Heap (Season 2)
And this one is just... I'm without words. I loved it. Emotional, tight, rich and set to an incredibly evocative song. Not to be missed.
In other news, there's a new comm for organizing Sam/Dean and Sam-and-Dean recs:
sd_recs. This pleases me, as I'm still reading the hell out of all the SPN stuff I can get my hands on. Of course, looking at their list of categories reminds me yet again (as always happens with these things) that the stuff I read fanfic for is... not so popular. (Where's the time travel category? The cuddling category? The forced-to-tell-the-truth category? At least there's amnesia, but I've given up hope that anyone else is as obsessed with suicide-themed stories as I am. And I've allllmost given up looking for the post-Swan Song story that I still desperately want to read.) (ETA: And, yes, that is an open invitation to rec me any of those things! :D ETA2: Yes, self-recs are awesome! Lay them on me.)
I did, however, find a beautiful story and a new-to-me author through
spn_littlebro's category links:
older brother, restless soul, lie down by
dime_for_12
This is a post-"And Then There Were None" stream-of-consciousness piece. Sam-girls, this is for you. It's Dean seeing the things he's been trying not to see in his brother, and it's really beautiful. A tiny bit self-indulgent, yes, but in the good way, and gorgeous writing.
