Salt it, burn it, porn it!
Jan. 4th, 2019 01:52 pmEek, I signed up for
salt_burn_porn. It's a 24-hour instant porn challenge, and although that always sounds terrifying, I've had good luck with it so far. Apparently not having time to overthink is a good thing?
Does anyone else have trouble writing a new story or starting a new vid when you have one that you haven't posted yet? I always have trouble with this! I like to work on one thing at a time, and it doesn't feel "done" until it's posted. I have a few different Highlander-ish things I want to work on, but I'm having trouble getting started because
hlh_shortcuts reveals haven't happened yet. It's a weird mental block. But I did finish a little vid project last night, so maybe I can start on the one I want to do for TGIF/F. If I can find hard drive space, oy.

I always seem to be working on multiple things at the same time when the writing's going well, so that's not a problem I have. But while something isn't posted yet I can never manage to let it go - I just keep fiddling with it. Which is its own frustration.
Yay for finishing a vid project, though! And good luck with the next. :)

Date: 2019-01-05 12:52 am (UTC)I have no problem starting new fics without having posted previous ones -- in fact I take this all the way around to the opposite problem: as soon as I've finished writing something, ALL I WANT is to work on other things and leave the finished story to rot (why can't they just revise and post themselves???). I basically have to play mind games with myself to finish and POST. *headdesk*
Also YAY VID PROJECTS -- good luck sorting out the hard drive space quandary. :D

Date: 2019-01-06 01:01 pm (UTC)I've gotten better at the conning-my-brain part when it comes to fanfic, but the stuff I write to sell? That's like... 50x50 odds whether I ever get it revised and submitted. The number of drafts cluttering my "DO SOMETHING WITH THIS" folder is frankly appalling. *headdesk*

Date: 2019-01-05 02:40 am (UTC)I had to learn how to let vids pile up without posting them back in the day. I am able to do that by sharing what I'm doing with a few people while I'm working on it, and it helps me to move to the next thing. That being said, I have to, like, *announce* to all and sundry that whatever I'm working on IS DONE (when it's done), and then I can move on. I don't know why, but I think it's because I view vidding as a personal thing to do and a social thing to share. Maybe. Kinda. :)
