It's been over six months since I wrote anything, ficwise, and a year since I wrote anything SPNwise, so I was scared to sign up for
spnspringfling—but it's one of my favorite challenges, and I couldn't resist. Thank goodness, I got my assignment and one of the prompts grabbed me right away. I've got the story laid out and a good bit of it written already. Phew! I'm grateful for rainy Sunday nights. (ETA: I just realized, the last time I wrote SPN was for last year's
spnspringfling, before those deadly ComicCon spoilers came out. Yikes.)
I'm also up to 2K words on
intoabar, and maybe approaching a resolution. Thank you, words! Don't leave me.
In other news, that Orphan Black show is pretty freaking amazing so far, isn't it? Thank you to all who turned me onto it. (Who else is watching this?) And we started watching Elementary last night (finally!). I only stayed awake for the first episode and a half, but I love it already. All of you were so right about that one. I can't wait to watch the rest of S1. It's stupid how relieved I am to be watching two shows with interesting and smart lead female characters I care about.
Now, out into the wet to cut back evil blackberry bushes.

Date: 2013-05-27 03:19 pm (UTC)Me! Me! I love Orphan Black. Only one more episode in the season, sadly. And I've been watching Elementary from the beginning -- I envy you that you have the entire season to enjoy (you might want to avoid spoilers). Great stuff, both shows. I think I'll buy the DVDs when they come out.

Evil indeed.

Date: 2013-05-27 03:53 pm (UTC)I am watching Orphan Black! Although I'm two episodes behind now. It's just SO HEAVY I can't watch more than one episode at a time! Like a huge piece of cake.
And yay, Elementary! I'll tell you now, JOAN JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER in a way that is honestly kind of unbelievable for a female character on a network tv procedural.

I knew all along that I wanted to watch Elementary, but we haven't had time, and also, I wanted to see if it finished the season well, because so many TV shows have left me feeling meh lately. I didn't want to get invested until I knew there was at least a good season to enjoy. :) Orphan Black has been a big surprise, though! It's addictive.

Date: 2013-05-27 11:49 pm (UTC)We've been fans of Elementary since it started.
Longmire--I watched a couple of eps during the marathon this weekend. Looks interesting, but I'm not sure there's room on my plate for another series at the moment. But Katie Sackhoff and Lou Diamond Phillips are a strong incentive.

Longmire is another good show, IMHO, that has a complex and intelligent lead who is a woman. And she's played by Katee Sackhoff, who did great work with the character of Starbuck on BSG.

Date: 2013-06-05 06:53 pm (UTC)Yesssss. Lost Girl has been my go-to show for that the last couple of years, but they do occasionally hit a seriously wrong note. So far, I haven't hit any of those with Elementary, and it's such a pleasure just to be able to watch and enjoy.
