Relieved!

It's been over six months since I wrote anything, ficwise, and a year since I wrote anything SPNwise, so I was scared to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling—but it's one of my favorite challenges, and I couldn't resist. Thank goodness, I got my assignment and one of the prompts grabbed me right away. I've got the story laid out and a good bit of it written already. Phew! I'm grateful for rainy Sunday nights. (ETA: I just realized, the last time I wrote SPN was for last year's [livejournal.com profile] spnspringfling, before those deadly ComicCon spoilers came out. Yikes.)

I'm also up to 2K words on [community profile] intoabar, and maybe approaching a resolution. Thank you, words! Don't leave me.

In other news, that Orphan Black show is pretty freaking amazing so far, isn't it? Thank you to all who turned me onto it. (Who else is watching this?) And we started watching Elementary last night (finally!). I only stayed awake for the first episode and a half, but I love it already. All of you were so right about that one. I can't wait to watch the rest of S1. It's stupid how relieved I am to be watching two shows with interesting and smart lead female characters I care about.

Now, out into the wet to cut back evil blackberry bushes.

Me! Me! I love Orphan Black. Only one more episode in the season, sadly. And I've been watching Elementary from the beginning -- I envy you that you have the entire season to enjoy (you might want to avoid spoilers). Great stuff, both shows. I think I'll buy the DVDs when they come out.

It seems like most people I know who are watching Elementary are also watching Orphan Black -- or, in your case, vice versa. They're great! Glad to hear you're liking them. Sometimes I want to write an ode to Felix and his many-faceted awesomeness, but then I'd also want to do so for Sarah, Alison, Mrs. S ... so many good characters on this show!

Ugh, good luck with those blackberries. I recently learned that blackberries are a pest in Australia because some English dude brought them there on purpose. Which just astounds me.

Evil indeed.

I am watching Orphan Black! Although I'm two episodes behind now. It's just SO HEAVY I can't watch more than one episode at a time! Like a huge piece of cake.

And yay, Elementary! I'll tell you now, JOAN JUST GETS BETTER AND BETTER in a way that is honestly kind of unbelievable for a female character on a network tv procedural.

::grinning:: I just mainlined Longmire, myself. I'll have to look at Elementary now, too, given some of the friends who're squeeing over it also got me into Haven.

And if you need a beta for [community profile] intoabar and I can help, my schedule's light this week.

Sure, yell when ready! And I'll have to look up Orphan Black.

Longmire is, at Merewyn put it, a police procedural mystery series meets Louis L'Amour. Seriously, it's a county sheriff's department in modern rural Wyoming and the stories are really good. Devo is still gleeing over all the complicated characters in it.

Orphan Black is awesome! The Boy and I marathoned the first six episodes a couple of weeks ago, and I've been hooked since.

Elementary is also awesome, and keeps getting better and better as the season progresses. You have much great viewing ahead of you.

Orphan Black is phenomenal! I love that show, and I've got my wife watching it now too.

We've been fans of Elementary since it started.

Longmire--I watched a couple of eps during the marathon this weekend. Looks interesting, but I'm not sure there's room on my plate for another series at the moment. But Katie Sackhoff and Lou Diamond Phillips are a strong incentive.

I know what you mean! Much as I like Elementary, I have a sneaking suspicion that part of my liking is sheer relief that the writers aren't messing up.

Longmire is another good show, IMHO, that has a complex and intelligent lead who is a woman. And she's played by Katee Sackhoff, who did great work with the character of Starbuck on BSG.
