Well... it's September 4. So Sunday was the first anniversary of the day I was finally motivated - by a glitch LJ had for about three weeks where a lot of images were suddenly broken in entries - to finally get around to fixing the broken images AND everything else I wanted to fix in my entries on both LJ and DW.

WARNING: I am extremely depressed and therefore this entry is going to make no sense whatsoever because I am physically incapable of wording an opinion very well when I am depressed.

pathvain_aelien stayed at my apartment for a while; in that time we watched the How To Train Your Dragon TV show! (Specifically, the third of the three shows there were. P_A, what was the third show called again? Dragons: Race to the Edge.) We made it to season 4. :) Have any of you watched it?

I'm FINALLY up to 944 entries fixed!!!!!


Yeah, that doesn't sound like a major milestone, but when you consider that entries 929-935 and 937-944 are all really long entries with lots of links to previous entries and comments by me - some of which were very cringeworthy or in upsetting threads - and so I had to skim through ALL of those entries again to change the LJ links to their DW counterparts when possible/necessary and decide what tags needed to be added... getting through all that IS a pretty significant milestone!! :D


How long have I been working on fixing just that set of entries?

September 4. In over two months, I only fixed sixteen entries...


At least hopefully from now on I'll start getting to feel like I'm making progress and it's not completely hopeless! :D

I'm fanboying so much right now that I'm fanGIRLing!... yeah okay, I guess that makes no sense whatsoever, but oh well. :P


Wait... how can this movie even exist?? I thought Nintendo and Illumination were already working on an animated Mario movie – is Nintendo working on the animated movie AND Mary O. & Yamamura at the same time for some reason? And as much as I like the Super Mario Maker Crash Course comics, the fact remains that it's just an eight-episode-long tutorial for making good Super Mario Maker levels - how can ANYONE possibly adapt it into a full-length movie?? And just how many bets did Enya lose to end up having to play the guide to a video game manual??

...Okay, why am I looking a gift unicorn in the esophagus? MARY O., the most underrated fictional character I know of, is going to be in a MOVIE. Played by ENYA. This is the best thing that has happened to me this decade. :D


And yes, I KNOW, I KNOW, people are upset that they didn't get a Japanese actress for Mary O., and I respect their opinions. But come on... Enya music notwithstanding, I never thought my ♯1 celebrity crush OR my ♯1 fictional character crush would be in a movie whatsoever!! Now the former is going to be PLAYING the latter??

You'll probably all hate me for this (and I know I say that a lot, but I'm even more sure of it this time...), but sorry, I personally am NOT going to miss out on this movie!!

To me, this is going to be the best movie EVER!

...well, unless there turns out to be a catch to it, like maybe a certain YouTuber who makes up theories about video games that a lot of his fans take too seriously and blindly accept as fact is also in this movie or something. But that would never happen!

Enya being in a movie as Mary O. is still enough that I'll watch it, but WHY does MatPat have to also be in it? :(

If I counted right, I'm FINALLY halfway done fixing my entries! :D I still wish I hadn't had to waste six whole months just to get this far, but... YAY!!!

Oh, and since it's Wednesday, it's time for a new Miiverse Backup Twuednesday post. Hopefully I'll get that done shortly. Might be late this week again though...

(And yes, I'll still be halfway done after I make that post - I've fixed 621 entries and this entry is my 1,241st entry, which is one less than 621×2. :) )

Of course, I still have 2011 to at least 2017 to fix if I ever want to get my peace of mind back...

It took me five months just to fix the 2007-2010 entries (or more like 2009-2010 because there weren't many before that)... do any of you even remember that I decided last September to finally start working on fixing everything that was messed up in my entries?


In other news, last week I somehow managed to forget to bring my phone to work on Friday... I never forget my phone! :(

1) Paste in all entries you posted in January 2017 and make a Wordle configured any way you like
2) Paste in all entries you posted in February 2017 and make another Wordle configured any way you like

12) Paste in all entries you posted in December 2017 and make another Wordle configured any way you like
13) Make a Wordle out of your entries from ALL months of 2017, configured any way you like

Then post all of these Wordles to your LiveJournal and/or DreamWidth and/or whatever other blogging site(s) you're on!


You may do steps 1 - 12 only or step 13 only if you prefer.

It's up to you if you include subject lines, comments, community entries, friends-only entries, music tags, location tags, etc., and it's up to you whether you post your Wordles in a public or friends-only entry. Anything else I didn't think of is probably optional as well.

And if you're on more than one journal site (in this example, LJ and DW), you may do this for your LJ entries only, your DW entries only, your entries on both sites combined, all of the above - whichever. And you may post it to only one site or the other, or to both - whichever you prefer.

Personally I opted to do this for my LJ and DW entries separately AND combined, and post all three versions of each to both LJ and DW. Which means this took about six times as long to make as it usually does...

Right: DW only

You can also tell because I tried to skew the colors of the LJ-only ones towards LJ-blue and away from DW-red/pink, and vice versa for the DW-only ones. Looking at how some of the color schemes turned out, though, I might need to adjust my algorithm before my 2018 Wordle Year in Review...

November is almost over. 2017 is almost over. I've wasted almost THREE MONTHS desperately trying to make all my LJ and DW entries look presentable again.

No, I've wasted over 6½ months since I really should've started on all of this when I joined DW in the first place.

And what do I have to show for it? 524 out of 1,212 entries fixed. At this rate, I won't be done until March at the earliest. :(

Well, August is over, so that means Matt1993 Nostalgia Month is over - so I changed my LJ and DW styles and userpics back to what they usually look like. (If you met me during Matt1993 Nostalgia Month and therefore don't know what I'm talking about, see this entry, or see it on DreamWidth, and then maybe see a few entries after it.)

If you do know what I'm talking about, you're probably thinking: "Waaait a minute, there's still something here that looks different from what I remember... Sure, the background went back to yellow or other yellow and Anya, Noma, Ricky, and blushy guy went back to not being as badly-drawn, but something is-- Wait, are these MY thoughts that are showing up in this entry?! Is this dork's journal reading my mind?!? I'm thinking of a number between 1 and 100. It's 47. Okay, that's just scary. I'd better not start thinking about my darkest secret..."

And to all that, I say:

1) Um, the "blushy guy" is me. And the other three are Enya, Roma, and Nicky - it says so right there on the userpic. Speaking of which...

2) Yes, remember how I asked whether or not some of my userpics are legible enough and then tried to make more legible versions of some of them? But never got around to uploading those as userpics?

No, of course you don't remember, because that was years before I met at least half of you, and it's been so long that those of you who were around for it probably forgot all about it. So to refresh your memory:

Anyway... I finally got around to that - or at least, I hope I updated all the ones I meant to! Four or three years later. I still haven't even updated my sticky "list of userpics in order added" post to include these updated versions OR the 2009-style versions (retroactive or not) - or any versions of my userpics besides "what they normally looked like from late 2009 to the first half of 2017". And due to a glitch on LJ, now not even those will show up in that entry again until I edit all of the image URLs to have "https://" instead of "http://" :( *

I guess that makes me the Enya of userpic updating... But hey, I finally finished one thing I started, at least! :)

3) Don't worry, your darkest secret is safe with me. I make no guarantees about your second-darkest secret though! :P


Now to go edit every entry and comment I ever made to fix all the userpics that are broken now. :(


*They need to call HTTPS something different - I keep wanting to use that as the plural of "http". "I need to change all the https to https!" ;)

This has been kind of a disappointing April Fools' Day because:

1) Homestar Runner didn't update at all today, even though they did for April Fools' Day 2014, 2015, and 2016, and April Fools and Halloween are almost the only times they ever update nowadays.
2) I don't think many people noticed my April Fools prank at all.

For reference, my April Fools prank was this entry; however, when I first posted it (on March 31 in my time zone, but late enough that it was April 1 already for some of you), it was an exact copy of my first entry. Then I waited a few minutes or so and changed it to a copy of a different past entry in the same way... then changed it to another after a few more minutes, and so on - basically, if I was at my computer, I'd change the entry anywhere from once an hour to once every few minutes. (At first. I gradually updated it less and less often because it seemed like no one was noticing...)

By "exact copy", that means including the subject line, repost button, userpic, tags, mood, music, location... basically, everything except the timestamp, the comments, and friends-only status [though, of course, the only friends-only entries I used were ones that probably would've been fine being public]. And anything that I intended to change each time but accidentally forgot sometimes. Though if I used an entry I'd posted in _dreams_, autism, or asperger, I added a notice saying that it was cross-posted (even though I don't think copying a community entry to my own journal years later for April Fools' Day actually counts as cross-posting).

I chose the entries semi-randomly, sometimes by going to my Calendar for random years and months and picking a random entry I'd feel comfortable posting again, and sometimes by just putting in notable entries that I remember and wanted to include in this prank at some point. Some entries were used more than once.

And just to mess with your heads even more, I thought it might be fun to come up with a hypothetical FUTURE entry and add it into the mix! That's what the 2023 year in review is for. It ended up being my favorite thing about this prank, so I left that one up significantly longer than any other single entry.


Now that April Fools' Day is over, all the entries I ended up using are listed below for posterity. (Don't expect the repost buttons to work correctly, though...)

No, my amiibo collection didn't really become self-aware and take over my journal. That was an April Fools prank, even though I was too depressed about LJ drama to feel like saying so for six months. Who would've guessed that marioenyacrsvrs, of all communities, would be even worse than asperger was back in the 2010s?! :(

Will people PLEASE quit blaming the year 2023 for the bad things that happened in it?! So far, THREE people have overreacted when I told them my wife and I got married on October 19. I never thought I'd say this, but can't they go back to complaining about 2016?!
