homestar essence of gullibility

Color me midnight disappointed

This has been kind of a disappointing April Fools' Day because:

1) Homestar Runner didn't update at all today, even though they did for April Fools' Day 2014, 2015, and 2016, and April Fools and Halloween are almost the only times they ever update nowadays.
2) I don't think many people noticed my April Fools prank at all.

For reference, my April Fools prank was this entry; however, when I first posted it (on March 31 in my time zone, but late enough that it was April 1 already for some of you), it was an exact copy of my first entry. Then I waited a few minutes or so and changed it to a copy of a different past entry in the same way... then changed it to another after a few more minutes, and so on - basically, if I was at my computer, I'd change the entry anywhere from once an hour to once every few minutes. (At first. I gradually updated it less and less often because it seemed like no one was noticing...)

By "exact copy", that means including the subject line, repost button, userpic, tags, mood, music, location... basically, everything except the timestamp, the comments, and friends-only status [though, of course, the only friends-only entries I used were ones that probably would've been fine being public]. And anything that I intended to change each time but accidentally forgot sometimes. Though if I used an entry I'd posted in _dreams_, autism, or asperger, I added a notice saying that it was cross-posted (even though I don't think copying a community entry to my own journal years later for April Fools' Day actually counts as cross-posting).

I chose the entries semi-randomly, sometimes by going to my Calendar for random years and months and picking a random entry I'd feel comfortable posting again, and sometimes by just putting in notable entries that I remember and wanted to include in this prank at some point. Some entries were used more than once.

And just to mess with your heads even more, I thought it might be fun to come up with a hypothetical FUTURE entry and add it into the mix! That's what the 2023 year in review is for. It ended up being my favorite thing about this prank, so I left that one up significantly longer than any other single entry.

Now that April Fools' Day is over, all the entries I ended up using are listed below for posterity. (Don't expect the repost buttons to work correctly, though...)

Here comes procrastination

I was going to update the interests in my profile (for real this time), albeit by removing a few outdated interests, adding as many new ones as will fit, and then put a list of ALL the interests I wanted to include in my bio. (As opposed to making a program to figure out which 150 interests are the most frequently/recently mentioned in my journal so I could put those in my "real" interests list - I still plan to do that, but not right away.)

Anyway, I was looking online for a way to count how long my updated interests list is without having to actually put it in (or rather, how many commas are in it - then I just add 1). I found such a page, but that site also had a bunch of other features I wanted to check out, so... I did.

Right now I'm looking at this one. I put in "matt" three times. I forgot what order I got these results, so I put them from least to most weird:

I'm probably going to play around with it some more. There goes my productivity.

2010 nnwm procrastinator

A 3-in-1 entry that has too much topic jumping & managed to be 10, 14, and 17 days late all at once

By now you no doubt have heard the news about Satoru Iwata, Nintendo's president. :(

I intended to write a tribute to him as soon as I had heard the news (a very short tribute, of course, because I'm still not a very good writer), but I ended up putting it off until the 14th, which was my birthday, and every time I want to post about something sad and something fun at the same time, I'm faced with the decision of: Do I try and write one entry about both topics, with some sort of "On a happier note..." transition? Do I post two entries in one day? Do I just pick one and post about it?

ALL of those options have either always worked out badly for me in the past or have never been tried because I KNEW they'd work out badly, hence why I ended up not even posting at all on the 14th. I was considering waiting until the 18th to post about my birthday anyway since that's when my birthday party was, but I still ended up procrastinating so long that by the 18th I was in the same scenario: ready to post about my birthday party, but I still hadn't posted about Iwata, and still didn't know how I should go about writing about either topic.

And then, as you can tell, I ended up procrastinating even further because I feel like there's a huge hole in my journal now there's three consecutive entries that I'm posting way too late. At this point, I think the only way I might be able to make myself not feel this way is if I ask you to pretend that this entry doesn't exist but the three below do and were posted on the dates listed. (note: this probably doesn't matter at all, but I don't know whether or not the repost buttons will work correctly...)

It's my party and I'll reference the same song I referenced last year if I wanna

Welp, I have somehow managed to survive everything for 18 whole years. Go me!!

I haven't gotten my birthday presents yet, but I did go gambling for a little while (awehla, I mentioned in a comment that it'd be tomorrow, but the plans ended up changing). I won $63!!! And we had a party at the autism intervention group I go to!

And, of course, the usual Museum of Accomplishments post:

Also, in addition to today being my birthday, this is my 700th post in this journal!! I was going to celebrate with a list of the subject lines from all 700 entries in my journal (and, for once, even my community entries!), but I left my laptop unplugged while I was typing it, and since my laptop doesn't have a low battery alarm (despite claiming that it does), I lost a lot of it and decided to give up. Maybe for my 800th or 1000th entry?

Year in review meme 2009 - borrowed from awehla

Go to your Calendar and find the first entry for each month of 2009. Post the first line of it in your journal, and that's your "Year In Review".

In case you were wondering why I was gone, the main reason is because, after seeing derogatory comments about PrtSc Land, I started trying to avoid most websites I promoted PrtSc Land on.

Yesterday, I finished the rough draft.

1st Semiannual Annoying Homework Contest

EDIT: This contest is cancelled because no one submitted anything before school started. :(

I wanted to save this contest for after OWY1U is back up and I've started a new webcomic I'm planning on doing on LJ (so that there's actually something to use the Cameo Tokens given as prizes for), but since I probably won't be able to get OWY1U up and create the first strip of a webcomic by January 5, and I really want to start this contest now, I will.

I found the perfect balance between humor I find funny and immature humor I find lame!

http://www.funnyexamanswers.com/

These are all hilarious, even the immature ones! (And I usually hate immature humor, so that's saying something.) I think my favorite so far is "Expand the equation". :)

EDIT: Now that I've read all of the posts as of "Chem win", my new favorite is the one where Walt Whitman has a blue ox named Emily Dickinson. Even if a later portion of that essay stereotypes LiveJournal as being for emo poetry.

In other news, now I have notes for all my exam essays, or exays, and have about half of my The Great Gatsby essay finished. Yay!

Yay for Thanksgiving!

I'm finally out of school for Thanksgiving! (Well, I have been ever since Mom decided she was too tired to take me to school for the last day, which was technically yesterday since it's past midnight in my time zone, but still.) My only homework is 16 math problems over 9 days. I love having a LOT of time to procrastinate. ;)

In other news, I finally updated my default userpic based on my poetry posterboard! Now I'm better-drawn and not my AdventureQuest character (I hardly play AQ anymore), and PrtSc (the Yoshi) is more creatively-designed by being painted spotted (like on Neopets). (PrtSc didn't appear on the posterboard, though.)

I also have a new feature: the Saying-or-Doing-Stupid-Stuff-Free Timer! Now you can all see how long I've gone without doing anything stupid (as long as I've had Internet access since I did)! I also keep a record of the longest I've gone without doing stupid stuff (or rather, the least amount of time that could be the longest; I haven't been keeping track of it forever, you know). The link is in my sidebar, since I'll have to update the link every time I do something stupid.

And yesterday 2 days ago, I finally finished watching every episode of Buffy! I guess I'll update my top 10 Buffisodes list tomorrow later today, since I really need to go to bed.

afer ventus or the river sings backwards

So for my non-Writer's Block, non-qensored, non-too many Crystal Light noses here post today...

I dunno if I've posted about this before (and bedtime's getting close, so I don't have time to check), but in English class I had to make a posterboard of the four poems I had to write and some symbols and/or quotes relating to the poems and/or myself.

One of my quotes was the backwards Enya lyric "Now woods think Matt is stupid, but first, I'm giving it end," since it actually had to do with one of my poems (about not making sense). I put it on with my redesigned Enya sprite. Once I was finished gluing everything, my mom pointed out that the Enya sprite was coming off. No, wait, actually she said:

"This little guy's coming off."

"little guy's coming off"

"little guy"

"guy"

Maybe this is what Enya meant by "Under star, we met the gender." (backwards Amarantine; stupid the fact that OWY1U's not up right now) She's quite tall, too (especially if you don't compare her to Waenya or know what Waenya looks like yet).
