| For the pre-War company, see Codac. |
The Codac R9000 is a Pre-War camera created by Codac in Fallout: New Vegas.
Gameplay[edit]
The Codac R9000 is used to take pictures of landmarks in Fallout: New Vegas. It behaves similarly to a firearm and causes nearby non-player characters to react as though they had been fired at with a weapon when used despite being harmless.
Location[edit]
The Codac R9000 is given by Michael Angelo for the quest, Classic Inspiration.
Related Quests[edit]
- Classic Inspiration: The camera must be used to take photos of Dinky the T-Rex in Novac, the Bison Steve Hotel sign in Primm, the McCarran Airfield at Camp McCarran, the HELIOS One power station sign and the Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters' bottle.
Notes[edit]
- Its reticle is exactly the same as the Laser Rifle Scope, Holorifle scope and the Red Glare scope.
- The camera has an AP cost of about 1000 AP.
- It can be holstered like a usable weapon. In third person mode, the camera clips into the Courier's leg.
- Its recoil and reload animations are recycled from the 10mm Pistol.
- It fires invisible projectiles that deal no damage and will not cause characters to become hostile. Firing it at the water results in the water ripple effect. If fired, characters will react to it as if it were a weapon.
- It will act as if it were a weapon if fired at the Boulder City Memorial, causing Private Kowalski to approach the player.
- The camera will not be confiscated upon entering a casino, due to it being marked as a quest item and therefore being unable to be removed from the player's inventory.
Appearances[edit]
The Codac R9000 appears in Fallout: New Vegas, and is mentioned in Fallout.
Behind the Scenes[edit]
- Kodak is a real world camera company.
- The Codac R9000's reticule was designed by Jason Sereno.[Ext 1]
Bugs[edit]
- The camera is a quest item and because of this it cannot be discarded when the quest is completed, and unfortunately due to a bug, it is not removed when the quest is turned in either.
- On the PC, it can be removed from the inventory by using the console command SetQuestObject 0011a208 0. If the first command doesn't work, you can use player.RemoveItem 0011a208 1.
- This weapon can be repaired with a Hunting Rifle (even without the Jury Rigging perk).
- This item may cause the Dead Money add-on to crash at the beginning, due to the script removing all items from the player inventory. Due to the camera being marked as a quest item, it cannot be removed by the script and may cause a crash. Running the above console command to revert its quest item status fixed it.
