I'm trying to put together an autumn playlist and I have far too much music to sort through. So I'm asking for you autumn songs - what music is the most of evocative of the season for you?

It could be something personal because you heard the song during the season, but that's fine! Hit me up!

Summer is still clinging here, but I have some big projects coming up and I want to make a playlist to help me get through them.

Big Big World
(Lyric that makes it autumnish: I can see the first leaf falling)

I know there are more that I'm not thinking of, but the only other things popping into my head rught now are creepy Halloween songs.

I put together an entire playlist of mostly fingerstyle guitar pieces, which are sort of evocative and moody with a bit of fun upbeat cover music mixed in. Right now there's also a lot of Black Sails soundtrack mixed in with this playlist, but you might want to flip through anyway to see if there's anything that catches your fancy. In case this link doesn't work - the playlist is on GallifreyWizard's Youtube Channel, called Music To Write By. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxuJwPhJ7bcUkWjbqAV4iyufJeotabPc2

For some reason, fingerstyle guitar pieces remind me of Autumn. :)

Oh good! I'm glad you're finding it inspiring.

Anything by October Project--partly becaouse of the name, but also their music has a slightly dark, spooky layer to it, both in the music and the lyrics. Both of their main albums are on Spotify, if you want to listen.

(And there's a particular track that I think was popular with much of the VigBean crowd, "Dark Time", off of their second album Falling Further In... it's very much Lucifer's song from "The Prophecy". At least, that's what we all thought)

Hope that helps!

I recently heard Riverside by James Spaite, and I thought it sounded very autumn to me, but I am not sure why, because it never mentions autumn, leaves or any of the typical fall things. It is also a great song about going on a journey, because it is about people who stop to rest by a river.

I will probably always find Type O Negative's album, October Rust a kind of autumn-y metal album. It's not very hardcore, it's got a like a goth Christmas song, and it's got October in the album name.

Aside from that though, I always turn to artists that feel softer/low vibration in the winter, regardless of genre. Usually it's the more folksy kinds like Laura Marling, Abagail Washburn, Brandi Carlisle ... but it could be something more alternative like The National, or James Blake or electronic like Blaqk Audio or The xx
