...Oh wow, turns out the situation is even worse than I thought it was when I started writing this entry. At least TWO webcomics I wanted to read are gone now that weren't before, because I had to find the URL for Bitmap World so I could link to it just now and it turns out it was taken down as well (but last year rather than last month). :( (And of course it HAD to be Bitmap World... in the chain of webcomics from Square Root of Minus Garfield to Request Comics that led to me discovering Irish Breakfast, Bitmap World was the only one where I still had yet to read anything except the "characters from other webcomics, including Irregular Webcomic! and Terror Island, in Bitmap World style" page and a couple other miscellaneous non-comic pages.)
At least they're both on archive.org... I'm so dependent on archive.org nowadays. If archive.org itself ever went down, I would probably DIE. If it had never existed, I probably would've died LAST YEAR. :(
Why do so many webcomic authors feel like they need to take down their stuff??? Every time that happens, I have to go visit whatever other websites I like that I can think of off the top of my head just to see if any of them are ALSO gone! O_O
So, as a tribute to Bitmap World, here's a list of all the webcomics I can think of that I wouldn't know about if they hadn't drawn both Irregular Webcomic! and Terror Island characters in their style: (NOTE TO SELF: make these links when I have the time to do so)
Bitmap World itself Terror Island Triangle and Robert (which is another one that's went down but I knew about that already, and it's one of the few to go down AFTER I got to read it all the way through) FOMS Request Comics tiny ghosts Irish Breakfast Nutflix (I haven't read that either but wanted to, but I checked just now and I think that's also gone now. THAT MAKES THREE. :( ) Tall Comics (I haven't read that either but want to) I know there's at least one more but I don't have the time to try and find the name of it.

Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen soundtrack this time - Lavender Town
Now that we have TONS of new info about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, I've been reading all the info I can about it and getting more and more excited about it!!!
Sure, my ♯1 fictional crush isn't playable (as far as we know), but I'm still in the process of reading all the info on the official site and getting excited whenever I see ANYTHING new, so let me make sure this thing works just in case I find out that Mary O. is an Assist Trophy or something...
This is a TEST of the emergency broadcast system.
YP9ER8YGNP98YNP9YNGP98YWRNP92HJ39 HCR23 2O`~~!!!! MARY O. IS IN SUPER SMASH BROS. 5 AS <insert non-playable role here>!!!! I'M GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK FROM EXCITEMENT AT ANY MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
This concludes our TEST of the emergency broadcast system.
I don't know what's upsetting: the fact that this was a YEAR ago now, or the fact that I STILL find out occasionally, when I least expect it, that someone I know has left LJ. :( At least this happens less often now?
And in case it's not clear to those of you on DW: I still prefer LJ. Sue me.
In other news, I'm behind on those Miiverse backup entries. Hopefully I'll get the one I was supposed to post last week posted soon. :)
I think there's a glitch in my copy of Windows 7. It says today's date is "1/1/2018". I thought the year 2018 didn't exist - didn't the world end in 2017?
Wait, I got it! 2018 must be like a secret bonus world or something! :P
Okay, it's become ABUNDANTLY clear that EVERY community I've ever posted in on LJ is probably going to be gone by the end of the month, so this is definitely the best time (unless I can go back in time and do this several years ago...) for me to finally start creating a backup account on DreamWidth.
PLEASE LEAVE YOUR COMMUNITIES UP AT LEAST UNTIL I HAVE EVERY ENTRY I POSTED IN THEM SAVED SOMEWHERE.
The sky is falling, Matt1993
Before I create a DW account, though, I still have a few more questions:
- What happens to the userpics on my entries if I start having them be automatically copied over to DW before I upload the same userpics to DreamWidth? Will the keywords still be there so that if I upload userpics to DreamWidth with the same keywords, they'll show up where they're supposed to? (Does DW even use userpic keywords?) - Can entries that are automatically transferred from LJ to DW be edited manually when they're on DreamWidth? Because I might have to if something in them doesn't get copied over. - I want to backup my entries in my own journal AND my entries in LJ communities to DreamWidth so the latter won't be lost if when more communities I posted in disappear. I'm so desperate that I'll even copy every community entry over one by one if I have to (which I will have to for autism, anyway - via email notifications about comments on my entries there, because luckily I still have those), but is there any way to have that automatically be done? And if so, will the comments stay there? - Which of the communities I mentioned do you think has the highest chance of being deleted anytime soon? That way I can start with those.
EDIT: Created my account on DW - my username is still matt1993. (Is there a way to link to a DW account from LJ or vice versa, like with the <lj> tag?) Anyway, I'm still setting up a lot of things on DW, but if I list you as a friend on LJ and I know your DreamWidth username, I added you there as well. If I didn't add you yet, then add me on DreamWidth and I'll add you back (if you have different LJ and DW usernames, tell me your DW username through LJ or vice versa). :)
I am sick and tired of people blaming 2016 for all the bad things that have happened this year.
Yes, I get that there were a lot of celebrity deaths this year, people got upset with each other over the election even more so than usual, etc. Those were definitely bad things that happened this year. But the Internet has taken this WAY too far - I'm getting tired of people blaming the year for it. (Dear 42 and It's Over 9000: I apologize. You are not the most annoyingly overused number-related memes in existence.) the way some people talk, it's like they think nothing good happened in 2016 (not true!) or that nothing bad happened in 2015 or any other recent year (also not true!). They make me feel like I'm not allowed to enjoy anything that was released in 2016. :(
Sorry for the rant - I just needed to get this off my chest before the end of the year. (Not that it'll make any difference - there's still people who complain about Super Mario Maker being released on September 11 last year...)
To anyone who happens to discover my journal while this is still on the first page: Rest assured, rants like this (or rants of any kind) are not very common in my journal. :)
Happy New Year everyone! Though... how is it 2015 ALREADY?
And now for something completely different...
Since my Computer Science Seminar class is definitely going to remind me of the Forbidden Comment Threads (Ω or not - in fact, throughout this entry I sometimes ended up saying just "Forbidden Comment Threads" to mean both) about once every three nanoseconds, I figure I might as well start posting about some of the many other things that remind me of the Forbidden Comment Threads. And a few things besides those that I'm worried about being hated for.
Remember when I decided to eventually start posting about just a few of those things at a time instead of waiting until I'm done with the whole list first? That's exactly what I'm doing! I have a feeling that choosing to start it before a very Forbidden Comment Threads-like class begins is going to be either a very good idea or a very bad idea - I'm not sure which yet. Maybe getting some of these things off my chest right now is exactly what I need to do to feel better in general! Or maybe it will be the fifth-worst mistake I'll ever make! (I'm almost certain it won't be the worst, though)
EDIT: I guess I should go ahead and outright state that the intro to this entry was a joke that sounded funnier in my head, and I probably made things even more confusing later on with another joke that sounded funnier in my head. Oh well. At least I've finally picked up where I left off regarding my old userpics!
I just uncovered the remains of an ancient tablet of some sort! Here is a rough translation, but it's probably not exact because many of the symbols are hard to read:
The eight-sided medical squid wears a timekeeping device Ride a box with wheels into the large fish The house of constellations belongs to Sue The bubble is only one foot into the front of the floor The last sporting official hunts elephantlike people The house of constellations has easily fooled blood The house of constellations swallowed the quill The house of constellations is haunted by the sea The house of constellations has diploma from writing about death
It sounds random to me, but at the same time, it almost sounds like a strange prophecy. Whether it is or not, there must be something it can tell us about something, even if only about the past. Hmm...
Carbon dating analysis estimates that this mysterious tablet dates all the way back to...
The middle of February 2014? Hang on, that can't be right...
Oh wait.
This isn't a surreal prophecy or even from an ancient-looking tablet - it's just the list of which of my userpics still needed to be made more legible as of when I last asked about any of them specifically (although it does feel like that was a long time ago):
I actually have in fact remade most of these before Christmas break - I just hadn't uploaded them here.
Well, guess what? Now I finally managed to put down Super Smash Bros. 3DS for just Luigi enough to Rosalina the two userPacs that I hadn't Wii Fit Trainered before ChristMarth break, upload all nine to LinkJournal, and Pit them all in an entry!
Uh, I mean just long enough to revamp the two userpics that I hadn't revamped... you get the idea.
Anyway... Do these versions look Bowser? I mean, better?
Last week, as part of an assignment in Speech class, I rewatched The Mummy and watched The Ring for the first time.
Turns out that my prediction here was actually wrong - The Ring is, in fact, a lot scarier than the parody of it on Annoying Orange.
But you know what's even more terrifying than both combined?
A horror movie I watched yesterday called Worse than the Forbidden Comment Threads.
Have any of you heard of it? It's the sequel to that one movie about the guy who reads a cursed flame war that makes him start seeing nightmarish visions of his friends misinterpreting everything he's ever said and hating him for it, and seemingly, the only way for him to get rid of the visions is to make a list of everything he's said and done that might be misinterpreted and post that to his LiveJournal in friends-only entries.
I found both that one and the sequel REALLY disturbing... It's almost impossible to remember that either of them is just a movie. Maybe it's just because the main character looks kind of like me. Actually, come to think of it, he looks almost exactly like me... and he even has a lot of interests in common with me: same celebrity crush, same favorite video games...
Even the phrase "Forbidden Comment Threads" sounds familiar for some reason... Didn't I hear it somewhere before about three years ago? I remember thinking up a phrase kind of like it that had something to do with a--
O___O
...
Uhhh...
Guys...
...
I...
I just remembered...
The first one in that series was no horror movie...
I... I think I remember... the Forbidden Comment Threads...
...actually happening...
...as part of my own life...
...
I don't think the sequel was just a movie either...
...
There really is...
...something that's probably worse than the Forbidden Comment Threads...
...and I read it yesterday...
...
...
Okay, now I'm way too scared to even care whether or not going from actual horror movies to a controversy that I pretended was a horror movie is too sudden of a topic jump...
*hides and curls into the fetal position in a clearly horrified manner*
(short version of this entry: What?! The Forbidden Comment Threads are evolving!)
