• The Nuke feature also now provides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.

Archive bot

Hi TonyTheTiger, hope you're doing well. I saw your question at admin noticeboard, I don't know if you're still looking for an answer, but worth checking out User:InternetArchiveBot. In the interface, if you tick the box "Add archives to all non-dead references (Optional)", then it will add all existing archives to the article, rather than just add archives for dead links, or presumed dead links at least. This is what most editors use it seems, although notably does not actively engage in archiving per say. Hope that helps. CNC (talk) 00:20, 22 January 2025 (UTC)

Chicago Open Housing Movement

Hello. Noticed you mentioned in a 2024 discussion that you had not heard of James Bevel. His initiating and directing the 1966 Chicago Open Housing Movement (lowercased, of course, on Wikipedia) brought him directly into the flow of Chicago history, and then he lived in Chicago for much of his life. The 1966 Chicago Freedom Movement had other leaders who do not as yet have articles (Kale Williams, David Jehnsen), and the movement is usually said to have been unsuccessful when the opposite is true. • Following a request for comment, a new speedy deletion criterion, G15, has been enacted. It applies to pages generated by a large language model (LLM) without human review.
• Following a request for comment, there is a new policy outlining the granting of permissions to view the IP addresses of temporary accounts. Temporary account deployment on the English Wikipedia is currently scheduled for September 2025, and editors can request access to the permission ahead of time. Admins are encouraged to keep an eye on the request page; there will likely be a flood of editors requesting the permission when they realize they can no longer see IP addresses.

Technical news

• Administrators can now restrict the "Add a Link" feature to newcomers. The "Add a Link" Structured Task helps new account holders get started with editing. Administrators can configure this setting in the Community Configuration page.

• The arbitration case Indian military history has been closed.
  • South Asia (WP:CT/SA) is designated a contentious topic. User:GeogSage, hey thanks for the thoughts. I know we interact in a forum that requires opinionated participation. I am sure we are both trying to make things better from our own perspective. Glad to see you bring about a lot of ideas and hope you don't get fed up with VA. This was the wierdest thing to be at ANI for. Usually, when I am called there for my actions I feel like everyone is coming down on me. In this case, the situation was a little bit off base and I haven't felt any heat (fingers crossed). I don't think IPs should have a say at VA, and my actions were from that perspective. Chicago Women's History Month Edit-a-thon

Regarding your nominations

Hey there Tony. Just some advice regarding your future nominations: please be sure that your hooks have a neutral point of view and should not read like promotional material. That is, they should not read as if they are advertising a company or product. Simply stating facts also does not work as hooks: hooks need to introduce information that makes readers want to read the article and learn more. I would suggest reading Theleekycauldron's essay on what makes a good hook for advice.

Finally, when writing articles about companies, please be sure to use third-party sources whenever possible, and limit the use of primary sources and non-independent sources to uncontroversial or non-contentious material. Dimensions…

U17 would be a constant, not a dimension. For what it is worth. Every player from the field is U17 baseline. Age is not being judged separately, unlike defensive abilities. & why is MaxPreps listed as major national player or the year awards in the NBA highlights template if MaxPreps as a whole its not major? Its the leading HS database. Its also listed on Dylan Harper, and collegiately Cameron Boozer (amongst all the collective “national player or the year” listings). It has it’s own article created for the award. One would think a player still in high school being awarded a national award by MaxPreps would be deemed okay to be included. & after all, it was in the highlights section since the creation of the page. • User:Centurion Seraph Awards for open men's could be paired down by one factor and be infobox eligible. Once you limit the field of men by an age group criterion awards generally have to be unlimited in any other way for the infobox. U1X for international ball might be like saying Freshman in NCAA. A Freshman DPOY is not an infobox level award no matter who the grantor is.   What about Big Ten DPOY? That is the same relevance. The age is not being factored in FIBA tournament anymore than age is being factored in the NCAA as a whole. It wouldnt be the same as selecting only freshman in NCAA, that is selecting competitors in the same field and differentiating by age. Itd be more like Big Ten DPOY. That is as you’d say two factors. Campbell's Soup FAC

Hey, just a response to your last comment. Yes, those were addressed, but the reason I was listing them was to establish that I had identified a number of issues with TSI, and that it was reasonable to assume I would find much more of the same in the parts of the article I hadn't reviewed. That's why I have asked for either (or both) of you to go over the rest and weed out any of those issues before I continue. There's a two week hiatus before this can be resubmitted to FAC -- I am confident in that time that the rest of the article can be checked over for TSI issues, put up at peer review where I will knock out the rest of the review, and come into another go at FAC with an immediate support. Regarding some of your articles and nominations

Hey Tony, I just want to leave you this message after reviewing your NBA G League Next Up Game nomination. I've noticed for a while that some of your articles have had issues with tone as they can sometimes sound promotional. For example, as mentioned in the review, the full sponsored title of the game ("NBA G League Up Next Game presented by AT&T") was used repeatedly, rather than it being mentioned only once (either "known as the NBA G League Up Next Game presented by AT&T for sponsorship reasons" or just a single sentence saying "The game has been sponsored by AT&T since 2023."). This isn't ideal for Wikipedia since it may give the impression that the article is promotional.

Similarly, I am also bringing up your Lumentum Holdings article again as it had similar issues. It includes promotional statements like "Lumentum is regarded as a leader in optics and advanced manufacturing" in Wikivoice without attribution. This statement is acceptable in a press release or an advertisement, but on Wikipedia, this is close to WP:PEACOCK.

I suggest that, when you nominate an article, look at it from the point of view of someone who knows nothing about the subject. Hi mate, hope all is well. Just a quick heads up that I went through and made a couple of edits again that were a part of the edits you reverted on the Adrien Nunez article that fall more in line with touching up the article -- the biggest thing I did is just dropping locations of universities, for uniformity and as a seemingly widespread site best practice, plus some grammar touch-ups (nothing major). Just wanted to drop a note to make sure you know I see your perspective re: your edit note of keeping a fleshed-out picture for Nunez's life when possible, and want you to know that this is not simply me reverting your reversion and starting an edit war. No problems if you revert this, but I think (and hope) you'll find that this wasn't nearly as large as my previous edit for more conciseness across the article. All the best, cheers!
