edit| Thank you for your comment on the TfD regarding the prior RfC. I don't know how "discourage" has any value if we're not even allowed to substitute the template (because someone else can just go in and revert the subtitution). Harsh language? DonIago (talk) 15:42, 18 June 2026 (UTC) |
- I hardly think what you wrote above is even past neutral in harshness. Gonnym (talk) 16:05, 18 June 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry for the delay; I didn't realize I hadn't added this page to my watchlist.
- I rather meant that I wasn't sure what form "discouraging" use of the template was supposed to take if we weren't even allowed to substitute it, and was joking that we could direct harsh language at the editor(s) using it. DonIago (talk) 02:05, 27 June 2026 (UTC)
Template:Infobox artist
editLove what you are doing, but you gotta deprecate the aliases and fix them first. Category:Pages using infobox artist with unknown parameters (0) was empty before your change. At current has over 400 pages. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:41, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Strange. I was looking at the conflicting category and it was at 0. What am I missing? Gonnym (talk) 16:43, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Conflicting only shows if both are in use. So a page would only appear there if (for example) BOTH
|field=AND|known_for=were in use. If just one is in use, there is no conflict. That doesn't mean that no pages are using|field=though. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 16:45, 21 June 2026 (UTC)- Does that make sense? Let me know if I can clarify further... As you know, I'm all for cleaning up conflicting parameters, it just is a bit more of a process.
- Also, about to pull the trigger on TM:Infobox sportsperson so buckle up! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:21, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Ah! Completely missed that. Gonnym (talk) 17:41, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Yea this shit is complicated.... Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:48, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- Re Special:Diff/prev/1360790335. Misunderstood and was trying to clear an error on the testcases page. My bad! Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 17:15, 23 June 2026 (UTC)

Abbasid invasions of Asia Minor
editTemplate has been added to my article of the Abbasid invasion of Asia Minor (779). Arxyium (talk) 09:15, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
- You've not actually added it. But looking at that page, all the links in the template are also in Template:Campaignbox Arab–Byzantine Wars so we don't actually need both. Gonnym (talk) 12:20, 22 June 2026 (UTC)
Empty params
editI've given up trying to fight with you and Zack about empty params, but the priority for me going forward will be to clear out the used invalid parameters first, because those are the ones that are causing "disruption" (if you can call it that). Those are the pages where people will be confused why the parameter-with-value isn't doing anything, so we might as well clear those out first given there are a ton of pages to go through. After that is completed there is less of a "rush" to to speak to get the (empty) unused parameters out of any template calls. Primefac (talk) 10:05, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- "Unknown" empty parameters and "Unknown" non-empty parameters display the same thing, which is nothing. So if we say that we support removal of unknown parameters, it makes absolutely no difference if they have data or not. However, as someone who has maintained the TV infoboxes for 8 or so years, once we completely removed the "empty" parameters site-wide, we never got them returning to the tracking category. When they were left, new pages kept on showing up. So my personal experience is that empty parameters are an invitation to editors to fill them in.
- Now you can choose of course to exclude them from the run, but that just means that a non-bot will do the same edits, in a longer time. Gonnym (talk) 11:17, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Right, I just wanted to let you know (in a non-edit summary way) why I was turning that on. I don't fundamentally disagree with your position, but I'm having enough issues with other bots and people complaining about borderline-cosmetic edits, and I don't really want my own bot dragged into that. Primefac (talk) 11:49, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Sure np. Just let me know when you are done so I can restore the empty param check. Gonnym (talk) 11:53, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

Ecomodernism
editHi Gonnym - you might want to revisit the Ecomodernism tfd - the template's now in use. Grutness...wha? 04:21, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
- Great work. Since there are multiple keep votes, it will be kept anyways in 2 days. Gonnym (talk) 07:51, 29 June 2026 (UTC)
Your edits to Template:Redirect category
editRestored reverted edit at Template:Infobox television crossover episode
editPlease do not restore reverted edits without discussion, especially in Template space. You made an undiscussed change to {{Infobox television crossover episode}}. It was reverted, and then you restored the change without discussion. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:36, 13 July 2026 (UTC)
Draftification
editRegarding Luke Cage (Marvel Cinematic Universe), this article was a years-old redirect before it became an article and should have been reverted, not draftified. This is probably part of an effort by TTT24; they're producing a large volume of articles on comics characters that are identical to old revisions. -- Reconrabbit (talk) 13:22, 14 July 2026 (UTC)
