Star Wars: Alien Archive is a canon reference book that details various species in the Star Wars galaxy. The book is presented from the in-universe perspective of the Graf Archive, as a restoration of an unidentified artist's journal. It was written by Natalie Clubb and Katrina Pallant, with illustrations by Tim McDonagh, and first published by Egmont UK Ltd on October 4, 2018 for the United Kingdom. Disney–Lucasfilm Press published an American edition on April 30, 2019.

Deep in the stacks of the Graf Archive, an old traveller's journal has been discovered and restored for public viewing. A long time ago this unknown traveller documented his stories about the many creatures found in each destination he explored, and includes famous movie locations such as the Mos Eisley cantina on Tatooine, Maz's Castle and the holy city of Jedha.
The archivist restored this journal and added facts and stats about the cultures, legends and famous members of over 200 species, including famous characters such as Chewbacca, Ahsoka, Wicket and many more.
Alien Archive is beautifully illustrated with full colour artworks, sketches and diagrams by Tim McDonagh, illustrator of Galactic Atlas'.
Development
The illustration of a Nimbanel by Tim McDonagh that was included in the book was based on[1] a drawing of Rohlan Dyre by[5] the Star Wars illustrator Harvey Tolibao.[6] According to an interview with StarWars.com the book took McDonagh six months to illustrate.[2]
