- "These junk dealers must have a weakness of some sort."
"Gambling." - ―Padmé Amidala and Shmi Skywalker
Junk dealers, also referred to as junk traders,[1] junkers,[3] scrap vendor,[4] or scrap merchants,[5] were merchants who bought and sold used pieces of technology and equipment.[1] On Tatooine, the Jawas were a species of junk dealers, traveling the sands of the Dune Sea in sandcrawlers in search of scrap to refurbish and sell.[6] Anakin Skywalker was once a slave owned by Watto, a Toydarian junk dealer in Mos Espa.[7] The Crolute Unkar Plutt was a junk dealer who operated in Niima Outpost on the planet Jakku. Due to his monopoly on the market, he had earned the title of junk boss.[8] According to Kylo Ren, Rey was the daughter of junk traders who sold her to Plutt.[9] Her father had indeed taken up the life of a junk trader after escaping the planet Exegol.[10]
