- "No deezreezpect? I am leeterally een a box, youah bogwing lowlife!"
- ―Mozeen Parapa, to Han Solo
Bogwings were a reptavian species native to the planet Naboo.[2] During Gulliball games played by Gungans, bogwings were released into the sky to signal halftime. Bogwings were known to be able to carry nine times their own weight.[8] They were also very territorial.[1] They could also be found on the swampy world of Dagobah,[5] where they made their homes in gnarltrees.[2] Other locations where they could be sighted were Aleen,[4] Zygerria,[6] Onderon,[9] and Nal Hutta.[10]
There were two kinds of bogwings: the Greater Bogwing and the Lesser Bogwing.[3]
Behind the scenes
The bogwings were originally supposed to appear in the episode "Hunt for Ziro" from the third season of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the planet Nal Hutta. Concept art of them for the episode was done by Jackson Sze. At one point they were supposed to be called "Swamp Peko Peko".[11]
