Examples: Interactive lectures will be used to define key concepts, convey central ideas and illustrate current issues in supply chain.
The instructor will demonstrate production planning, inventory control and scheduling both by hand and with the use of material requirements planning software.
Discussion will provide an opportunity to examine alternative solutions to supply chain challenges.
Video tutorials will be provided through a course page using the campus learning management system.
Students will use a course web page to submit assignments and access links to up-to-date information on current practices in supply chain management beyond that provided in the textbook. Students may be introduced to Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software to plan materials acquisitions.
In addition to the tutorial mentioned above, videos on supply chain from NBC Learn will be included on the course page.
Collaborative learning will be employed in case analyses.

Examples: Each week the students answer essay questions and analyze supply chain cases. The students will also write a group report on sourcing a product from a foreign country and delivering it to the final customer. The report will include demand and supply planning, purchasing, warehousing, transportation and customer service. Written work will provide an opportunity for students to define and use supply chain vocabulary, apply concepts discussed to real-world problems, and demonstrate an understanding of the central ideas in the subject.
Students read approximately one textbook chapter per week and articles as assigned. The reading will provide exposure to the vocabulary of supply chain along with definition of the key terms, they key concepts in supply chain and the latest developments in the field.
Each group presents an assigned section of the supply chain report described above.
The group for the aforementioned supply chain paper will consist of five students, with each taking primary responsibility for one of the subtopics mentioned. In addition, the group will be responsible for ensuring that the paper flows and makes sense as an integrated whole.
Through the group project, students will employ the vocabulary used in demand and supply planning, purchasing, warehousing, transportation and customer service, identify the key concepts in each domain and apply concepts gleaned from their reading and class discussions to solving current challenges in each area.
Inventory reports may be produced using materials requirements planning software. Working in an group will allow for peer instruction and allow students to apply concepts and methods learned from the class demonstration to real-world problems.
In addition to the text, articles on current developments in supply chain will be introduced as appropriate. These articles will reinforce and expand upon key supply chain concepts, provide an additional exposure to subject vocabulary and offer examples of the latest methods of managing inventory and moving products efficiently.

Homework problems will be assigned for most chapters. Homework will require students to demonstrate the ability to plan for material requirements.
Multiple choice and true or false questioning will require students to define supply chain vocabulary, identify key concepts in the field and apply current methods to the of goods. Students will be evaluated based on correct answers which demonstrate an understanding of the vocabulary, key concepts and current methods of supply chain management.
Each group presents an assigned section of the supply chain analysis. Presentations are evaluated on both content (see above) and presentation skills, including presenter's ability to respond to audience questions, polished use of visual aids, vocal variety and eye contact. Instructors may use a rubric to evaluate oral presentations.
