The weapons known as claws are fighting gloves originally meant for enhancing physical attacks with the addition of beast-like nails. The mythril claws were designed to cut and shred, rather than to inflict direct brute force, and the precious material they are made of renders them durable, yet light. Its sharp claws also glisten in a silver light that never fades away. Mythril Claws (ミスリルクロー, Misuriru Kurō?), also known as Mithril Claw and Mythril Knuckles (ミスリルナックル, Misuriru Nakkuru?), is a recurring knuckle in the Final Fantasy series. It is part of mythril equipment sets.

Mythril Claws is the second weakest claw, providing 65 Attack and can only be equipped by Sabin normally. It can be bought for 800 gil at Mobliz, Nikeah, and Narshe in the World of Balance, or stolen from Belmodar, Vargas, or Exocite.

Mythril Claw is a low-ranked weapon for Tifa, providing 24 Attack, 106 Atk%, 3 Magic, Critical% +2, the Punch attribute, and one unlinked Materia slot and one linked Materia with normal growth. It can be bought for 750 gil at Junon before obtaining the Highwind, or in Kalm.

Mythril Claws is a weapon for Tifa. They provides the ability Chi Trap, which creates an orb of materialized chi that deals damage on contact. The weapon is obtained in "Beyond the Fracture" in Chapter 13, "A Broken World", after defeating the Failed Experiment boss.

The Mythril Claws is a low-ranked claw for Amarant, providing 39 Attack and teaching Curse and Counter. It can be bought for 6,500 gil at Esto Gaza before the Desert Palace, the Oeilvert Mogshop, and the Desert Palace Mogshop, and stolen from Taharka.

Mythril Claws is a hand-to-hand weapon that provides +9 damage and +66 delay. It deals +1.98 damage per second and accumulates +4 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 41 Warrior, Monk, Dark Knight, Beastmaster, Ninja, and Puppetmaster.

It can be bought for 29,760 gil from Coumuna in Upper Jeuno (H-8). It can also be bought for 298 Sparks of Eminence from Isakoth in Bastok Markets (E-11), Rolandienne in Southern San d'Oria (G-10), Fhelm Jobeizat in Windurst Woods (J-10), and Eternal Flame in Western Adoulin (H-11). It can be found in a Treasure Casket in Western Altepa Desert.

Final Fantasy XIV

The Mythril Claws are a pair of Pugilist's Arms for Monks. They can be crafted by Blacksmiths, acquired from the quest Road to Redemption, or bought in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ul'dah, Ishgard, and the Coerthas Central Highlands for 6,140 gil.

The Mythril Knuckle is a weapon for Kevin should he undergo the Light class path of the Grappler, the Monk, and any of its succeeding classes. An armored glove comprised of mythril, its usage allows the weapon greater magical properties. Wielders of such weapons have been known to use these gloves to punch through magical attacks, and despite having a hidden blade underneath its backhand plate, monks have been known to use the mythril's magical properties to ensure wounding and lethal blows are healed so that pain is the only collateral given.

Etymology

[view · edit · purge]The word "mythril" or "mithril" is a metal found in many fantasy worlds. It was originally introduced by the fantasy writings of J. R. R. Tolkien, being present in his Middle-earth. It resembles silver but is stronger than steel, and much lighter in weight than either. The author first wrote of it in The Lord of the Rings, and it is retrospectively mentioned in the third, revised edition of The Hobbit in 1966. In the first 1937 edition, the mail shirt given to Bilbo is described as being made of "silvered steel". The name mithril comes from two words in Sindarin—mith, meaning "gray" or "mist", and ril meaning "glitter".
