Spharai in Final Fantasy XI.

Spharai (スファライ, Sufarai?), also known as Sphairai, is a recurring knuckle in the Final Fantasy series.

Final Fantasy XI

Spharai is a hand-to-hand weapon that provides +23 damage, +86 delay, Attack +20, enhances Counter effect, and gives access to the weapon skill Final Heaven. Its hidden effect occasionally allows attacks to inflict 3x normal damage. It deals +4.88 damage per second and accumulates +6 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 75 Monk. It can be obtained in the "Relic Knuckles: Spharai" quest or the special Nomad Mog Bonanza 2010 (Rank 1) event.

Final Fantasy XIV

The Sphairai are the Relic Weapons for Monks. The Unfinished Sphairai are acquired and upgraded to the Sphairai in the quest A Relic Reborn (Sphairai). They can then be upgraded to the Sphairai Zenith. A variant called the Sphairai Ultima is purchasable from vendors at Rhalgr's Reach and Kugane with an Ultima Totem obtained from The Weapon's Refrain (Ultimate). This version uses the Sphairai's model as a base while also having particle effects reminiscent of the Ultima Weapon during the encounter.

Spharai is a level 90 exclusive weapon for Prishe, which provides +63 Attack, +69 Bravery, -522 HP, and Assist Gauge Duration +20%. It can be obtained from the shop by trading 158,000 gil, Koenigs Knuckles, Electrum, and Horror's Dream x5.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia

Spharai (XI) was a 5★ Fist for Prishe, enabling access to the ability Guileless Strike. It provided 105 HP, 49 DEF, 195-270 INT BRV, 2296-3001 Max BRV, 725-950 ATK, and added 35-50 CP.

Spharai (XIV) was a 5★ Fist for Yda that enabled access to the ability Swift Punch. It provided 103 HP, 55 DEF, 124-184 iBRV, 1926-2616 mBRV, 629-854 ATK, and added 15-30 CP.

Etymology

In around 400 BC, the sphairai were introduced in Ancient Greek boxing. The sphairai were very similar to himantes. The only notable difference was that they contained a padded interior when wrapped around the hands and the exterior of the thong was notably more rigid and hard.
