Mukademaru (百足丸, Mukademaru?, lit. Centipede Blade), also known as Spider's Kiss and Black Widow, is a recurring katana in the Final Fantasy series.

The Spider's Kiss is a weapon for Auron, obtainable when the dominant ability on any katana is Poisontouch.

Final Fantasy XI

Mukademaru is a great katana that provides 74 damage, 420 delay, Subtle Blow +2, and reduces Enmity. When equipped with the Brilliant Earring, it increases Evasion and HP recovered while healing. It deals 10.57 damage per second and accumulates 107 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 69 Samurai and Ninja. It is dropped From Loo Kutto the Pensive.

Final Fantasy Type-0

Black Widow is a weapon for Jack. It provides 8 Attack and has a 30% chance of inflicting Poison. It is a reward for "Wyverns in the Woods" (S-Rank on Officer difficulty) or as a Special Order for "The Clash on Big Bridge" (defeat three Warriors using active leader). It sells for 180 gil.

Etymology

Mukade refers to Japanese centipedes, which are known for their size and propensity to bite. Within Japanese symbolism, mukade are seen as symbols of tenacity and indestructibility, as well as animals significant of Bishamonten, the Shitenno of the North, and Takeda Shingen, who adopted the animal into his heraldry, but alternately are seen as animals representative of evil, due to their aggressive nature and being able to sense the death of their kind nearby.
