Coral Sword from Final Fantasy XVI icon

Coral, while razor sharp, is also painfully brittle, which is why its use in all but the most primitive of weapons is almost unheard of. This sword of unknown provenance, however, is possessed of a remarkable rigidity, while maintaining an edge that rivals that of Odin's blade.Description

The coral sword has attack power of 180 and is found in a treasure coffer during the "The Crystal's Curse" main story mission. The flavor text mentions it being a weapon powerful against Odin. This alludes to the prior games in the series where Odin has appeared weak to lightning, his sword acting as a "lightning rod" when he raises it in preparation for his signature attack. In Final Fantasy IV, the Feymarch library reveals that Odin was undefeated until he was struck by lightning when his sword was raised.

Electrified coral is still used in many regions to hunt for fish, especially in regions where thunderstorms often occur.Description

    Etymology

Precious coral is the common name given to Corallium rubrum and several related species of marine coral. The distinguishing characteristic of precious corals is their durable and intensely colored red or pink skeleton, which is used for making jewelry.

A sword is a blade weapon used primarily for cutting or thrusting. The precise definition of the term varies with the historical epoch or the geographical region under consideration. A sword in the most narrow sense consists of a straight blade with two edges and a hilt. However, in nearly every case, the term may also be used to refer to weapons with a single edge (backsword).
