okay, so. there's this photoshoot. of arashi looking pretty greasy but actually really appealing to me. sho and jun look especially good, i think. this whole set is right up my alley. (i like 'em greasy? idk.)

as usual, it got me thinking. toma was in grease, of course, but the closest arashi ever got to that was west side story. BUT WHAT IF THEY WERE IN GREASE.

i have two irrational internet-related fears, both of which have just now reared their ugly heads.

fear one: that people i talk to regularly are all the same person. or a network of people or something. i know this sounds ridiculous, but it's a legitimate fear i have and one reason why i'm ALWAYS up for meet-ups with y'all. it's not that i don't trust people, but confirming that everyone i talk to is actually a different person helps me stop freaking out so much. i constantly feel like an asshole for even thinking this.

fear two: that people (on the internet and off) are purposely messing with my head. it would explain the actions of a few people in my past, at the very least. one of which who seems to visit my lj every few days, has befriended about a fourth of my flist, and has even started looking at MY SISTER'S lj.

also, bonus confession: i hate realizing that people mean more to me than i do to them. honestly, it makes me want to be detached with everyone and that's such a depressing thought.

i think i've been spending too much time on the vdex project website. i just woke up from a dream about arashi as pokemon trainers.

nino had a ditto, which was kind of sad to me at first, but it would probably suit him really well. changing form and making mischief is kind of ditto's m.o. though his party would probably also be full of pokemon like kadabra and mr. mime. or a delibird. i mean, really.

sho had a machop. way to pick the obvious choice, brain. :/ i'd rather see him training a makuhita - not only because they're so cute but also because sho giving it sumo-style training would probably make my life. i could also see him training a sandshrew or a claydol.

i don't know why, but jun had a seviper. i'd like to think he must've gotten it in a trade because i can't see jun being excited about taking care of a huge-ass snake. i think a noctowl would be more his speed. that or jun would be the trainer who spends all day in eterna forest catching wurmple in hopes of getting it to evolve into beautifly. also flaaffy. they could share hair care tips!

aiba had a growlithe, but i think that's mostly jocelyn's fault. :) i think it'd be really cute if he went around with a plusle/minun team as his starters. because teamwork is important, guys!

ohno wasn't in my dream, but i would like to see him at the helm of a huge slowpoke army. maybe with a wailord or a lapras to ride around on. or a smeargle so they could paint all day. well, when ohno wasn't testing out his new super rod.

BOO BOOKED US TICKETS OMGGGGG. the saddest part is that i don't really even care about matt groening. he's cool and all, but OMG LYNDA BARRY. :D lynda barry is one of my favorite modern cartoonists. i started reading her books when i was nine (which, if you know anything about lynda, is probably not something i should be admitting) and i've loved her since.

not only am i going to see two awesome cartoonists talk about something that was my childhood aspiration, i get to go for free! boo's getting in for free because it's at her school, but i don't have to pay because i'm an art teacher! oh man, i'm so excited.

in more art nerd news, i went to michael's today to buy fun fur. for those who are not following me on twitter, i've been using my planning period to make an epic paper mâché mask of ohno's face. i don't even know what i'm going to be do with it when it's finished but i do know that it's going to be THE MOST RIDICULOUS MASK EVER. the fun fur is for ohno's hair, though i might just taper blue feathers into ohno's haircut instead. i'm having a lot of fun with it, but any suggestions on what i should actually include on the mask would be a big help! i'm still trying to figure out how to make a little fishing pole to hang off of the side since i've got a fish-shaped bead anyways. what a perfect time to use it!

i might make masks of everyone in arashi, though i'll need to do some serious brainstorming on what a nino and sho mask would look like. jun and aiba are easy, but how do i get across the idea of sho and nino? i'm stumped. :/

i've been looking at awkward family photos for the better part of an hour now. one photo was begging to be photoshopped. who am i to deny a golden opportunity, right?

today is pops' birthday, so we took him out to double yolk for breakfast. i had the most amazing strawberry blintzes ever. they used actual mascarpone cheese instead of that weird cottage cheese-ish filling some of the cheaper restaurants use. SO GOOD. mom said some offhand comment to the server about pops getting to order whatever he wanted because it's his birthday and she ended up bringing out some gussied-up fruit crepes with a candle stuck in it. so cute! ♥

pops had to get home to keep working after that (wtf who works on their birthday?) but mom, boo and i went to target. i got the 4gb sd card i'd been looking for (only $13 on sale. i was pretty proud of myself) and these two shirts. i'm apparently back down to an extra small - a small at most other stores - which was a bit of a surprise. i guess portion control is working better than i thought!

ALSO! if you follow me (and either wainscotting, rockthecliche, or melonpunch) on twitter, you've probably noticed that i tend to use it for "omg what if arashi were ___________? LOLOLOL." crackfic idea conversations. i personally always think about them at a later date, laugh, then have to go back through my twitter history to figure out what was exactly said, which is usually a huge pain. but no more! wainscotting and i have been talking about starting a community for general ridiculous au ideas and we've started putting it together.

johnnysgymshow is the new community. there's no entries yet, but there will be soon once one of us (or anyone, i guess) gets around to making a first post. nevermind. i posted because i am a perfectionist who hates the look of an empty journal. XD there's a bit in the userinfo for a better explanation, though. apparently there's a few fic communities who allow community pimping, so i guess that's in the near future as well. in the meantime, join and share? XD

randomly, who was i talking to about buffyverse!arashi? i think the conversation was a while ago, but i very well could have dreamed that it happened. idek.

i saw watchmen with pops and boo last night. it really was close to the actual graphic novel - many scenes were frame-by-frame reproductions. the ending, of course, was not the same, but still sort of worked. adrian was completely fabulous, as he should be, rorschach's "hrm" was wonderfully prevalent, and i have fallen in love with dan all over again ♥

really, i only have one paper-to-screen complaint. WHY IS BUBASTIS PURPLE? what's the purpose of changing her color? i went into the movie knowing she wasn't going to be orange, but it still didn't prepare me for how weird it was to see her in purple.

when we got home from the movie, i fed the suggies and got read to go to bed. i need some sort of noise when i'm trying to sleep, so i've taken to watching a video on the [adult swim] website. last night, i put on home movies. i don't know if i was really tired or if it was just that perfect of an episode, but my brain went to a weird place.

and i can totally see aiba and junno as walter and perry. i guess that would make jun fenton, nino brendon, sho melissa, and ohno... jason?

though the idea of nino as part of curiosity team just won't do. maybe he ought to be coach mcgurk instead and bust out the magic tricks at childrens' parties. and in light of recent events, perhaps ryo would be better suited as brendon. ha.

i am not a writer in any way, shape or form. i draw, i illustrate, i take words and turn them into pictures. i don't put the words together in a way that's anywhere close to how well i can put lines together on a page.

and yet i spent my two-hour planning period today figuring out the skeleton of an arashi-as-equestrians au. oh my god i will probably never be able to convince someone else to write this for me, but i don't even care. it's like a constantly-running au in my mind.

i don't know, am i nuts? this is sort of eating away at my brain.

also, for those of you who don't know, (which is probably most of you? i barely talk about this) most of my childhood was spent in a horse stable. i was a competitive horseback rider until i was a teenager. i competed in both english and western and tried my hand at barrel racing a few times. this subject is very near and dear to my heart. ♥♥♥
