not really a meme, but suggestions plz? i sort of want to say something like comment here and i'll draw a sketch of how i imagine you look irl! but is that weird? BUT I'M CURIOUS ABOUT HOW PEOPLE SEE ME except that i post pictures of myself fairly regularly.
so... idk. i want to draw people today. and probably for the rest of the week. so... prompts? of any kind? if it's fandom-related, anything i've ever talked about goes. but mostly je. haha.
though really? i want to draw the cracky stuff. it's more fun!
so nick simmons ripped off a ton of manga art - including but not limited to bleach, death note, naruto, one piece, and lupin. if there's one good thing to come out of all the wank going on involving nick and his celebrity responsibility or whatever, it's that i now respect this goober even more than i already did:
oh gerard ♥ i still can't quit you, your band, or your comic series. i LOVED the umbrella academy, even when i put my history with mcr aside. at least he respects fellow artists too much to pull a stunt like this.
1. Comment to this post with "I surrender!" "please, may I have one?" or something like that and I'll assign you the basis of some tv show idea. (Science fiction show, medical drama, criminal procedure, etc...)
2. Create a cast of characters, including the actors who'd play them
3. Add in any actor photos, character bios and show synopsis that you want.
4. Post to your own journal.
astrangerenters gave me "a sitcom set in an art school". for the record, i did not go to art school. i took a lot of art classes for my degree, but that's not really the same thing at all. so i apologize to those of you who did go to art school. i'm going off of stories my "proper artist" friends have told me. i will try not to rely on daniel clowes too much.
i'm not allowed to have after-school activities until after ISAT testing. on the upside, that means i have a few months worth of getting home before dinnertime. unfortunately, this also means that drama club will only have about two weeks to shoot our film before the film festival. i'm not sure if i should be happy or pissed off.
no1_antielitist has assured me that she's making a FAKE BITCH/CAN'T SING sho icon, which i will be using proudly and often. if you haven't seen the fandom!secret (admittedly from a while ago) it's here. i'm both amused and shocked at all of the arashi fan hate out there. apparently we're all elitist douchebags!
BUT NONE OF THAT MATTERS BECAUSE JOHNNY HAS TAPPED INTO MY BRAIN ONCE AGAIN. thank you arashi's stylist; you are my hero. the warhol-styled outfits are just what i wanted to see today ♥ i mean, look at nino's sweater! WHERE CAN I GET THIS I WANT IT SO BAD:
day 1: a song day 2: a picture day 3: a book/ebook/fanfic day 4: a site day 5: a youtube clip day 6: a quote day 7: whatever tickles your fancy
i was going to rec CAT TOWN, but it's apparently down at the moment. SUPER SPECIAL NOTE FOR PEOPLE IN THE FUTURE: click that link! you won't regret it! for everyone else, i'm reccing the website of an artist whose work i would never have the patience to reproduce: peter callesen. he makes these amazing paper cutout designs that really defy description. the only thing you need to realize to be BLOWN AWAY is that each creation is ONE SHEET OF PAPER. no pieces, just a lot of folding and gluing. it's breathtaking.
not much to report today. my art club kids are awesome, i wrote two kids up for starting a crayon fight, and i once again co-disciplined a particularly unruly sixth grade class. standard fare.
Simulacratic: omg omg chel on wheels: omg what Simulacratic: i got an e-mail about a thing at the uic forum called "cartoonists in conversation, where two cartoonists come to share stories and insights etc Simulacratic: AND THE TWO CARTOONISTS ARE MATT GROENING AND LYNDA BARRY chel on wheels: WHAT OMG WHAT WHEN HOW DO WE GET TICKETS IAGFK'LVN'A;KVAS;DKVPO chel on wheels: WHAAAAAT chel on wheels: I WILL TAKE A SICK DAY FOR IT Simulacratic: hahaha omg
BOO BOOKED US TICKETS OMGGGGG. the saddest part is that i don't really even care about matt groening. he's cool and all, but OMG LYNDA BARRY. :D lynda barry is one of my favorite modern cartoonists. i started reading her books when i was nine (which, if you know anything about lynda, is probably not something i should be admitting) and i've loved her since.
not only am i going to see two awesome cartoonists talk about something that was my childhood aspiration, i get to go for free! boo's getting in for free because it's at her school, but i don't have to pay because i'm an art teacher! oh man, i'm so excited.
in more art nerd news, i went to michael's today to buy fun fur. for those who are not following me on twitter, i've been using my planning period to make an epic paper mâché mask of ohno's face. i don't even know what i'm going to be do with it when it's finished but i do know that it's going to be THE MOST RIDICULOUS MASK EVER. the fun fur is for ohno's hair, though i might just taper blue feathers into ohno's haircut instead. i'm having a lot of fun with it, but any suggestions on what i should actually include on the mask would be a big help! i'm still trying to figure out how to make a little fishing pole to hang off of the side since i've got a fish-shaped bead anyways. what a perfect time to use it!
i might make masks of everyone in arashi, though i'll need to do some serious brainstorming on what a nino and sho mask would look like. jun and aiba are easy, but how do i get across the idea of sho and nino? i'm stumped. :/
