I was talking about Killer Moth to a friend and it makes me really sad writers don't explore this character more because he has a lot of narrative potential. Batman's rogues are basically "household names". They made it. But Killer Moth didn't. It is interesting to me that Killer Moth tried to become a big time villain and ultimately failed and stayed a small-time criminal and a gun for hire. Surely he isn't the only one. Exploring this kind of world would be cool. There is also his relationship with Babs!Batgirl: in a lot of continuities he is the very first villain she ever defeated and his defeat at her hands is what causes his short criminal career to decline. He could have become a regular Batgirl villain, obsessed with taking his revenge. He could have become an Oracle villain, and that I think I would have found extremely interesting to see their dynamics years after their first encounter. Killer Moth could also have made an interesting arch-nemesis for Batman. After all, he purposely designed himself as an opposite to the Dark Knight. He intended himself to be a villainous counterpart to Batman. Some stories even show him as being originally a billionaire who ruins himself trying to become a successful villain. I think it could make for an interesting story. And last but not least, there's also his relationship with Firefly, which is to my knowledge barely touched upon in comics for some reason given that most continuities have Lynns starting out his criminal career as a sidekick to Killer Moth. There too there is a wealth of narrative possibilities. Unlike Killer Moth, Firefly has been quite successful in his criminal career, he "made it". Surely this would impact their relationship greatly, especially seeing how Killer Moth is often depicted as a man desperate for respectability and fame. It's really a shame you don't see them interact because those two could have a fascinating and complicated relationship. There is no doubt to me that Firefly learned a great deal from Killer Moth, yet the latter stayed an obscure villain while he enjoyed celebrity.
Anyway all of this to say: DC writers make something of Killer Moth
