Deaths: only with reference?

The only thing I can think of is to semi protect the page as it's only really being edited by unconfirmed users. This will impact the good edits however. It's that or either we verify each entry or remove them. A lot of work either way. fr33kman 18:57, 15 July 2026 (UTC)

July 2026 Wikimedia Café meetups regarding Wikimedia governance and options for reform

This draft needs to be simplified before it can be moved to mainspace. Please simplify sentence structure and word choice. The WP:BE 1500 is a good list to use. If you must use more complicated words, you should explain them or wikilink an article that does. Garsh (talk) 20:04, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

Note that we don't expect you to stick to this (or any other) word list. Articles should be easy to understand. This usually means short sentences and explaining well. One idea pet sentence, paragraph made of several sentences. Eptalon (talk) 20:21, 18 July 2026 (UTC)

This is still showing a college level reading score - you need to aim for year 7-8 level. At the moment the it is not even close to being in Simple English. Use an online tool like https://readabilitycheck.com/ to check your work and get some ideas. Peterdownunder (talk) 10:02, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

A simple approach to your opening paragraph would be something like this: "In India, some politicians give special help or benefits to minority groups, mostly Muslims, to get their support. A. K. Antony says this has helped groups based on community feelings grow stronger. These groups work together because they share the same interests. Antony says there is a problem: these special help policies are supposed to help minorities, but often they do not help regular people in those groups. Instead, leaders take the benefits for themselves. This causes problems in education and money matters, especially for Muslims. Some leaders have even used government help, like money for the Hajj pilgrimage, for their own gain. The same happens with help meant for Dalits and Christian minorities, where leaders benefit more than the people. Hilal Ahmed says Muslim appeasement means unfair politics, like giving special favors only to minorities, and systems that give reserved spots to minorities in schools and jobs. Vote bank politics means political parties focus on winning votes from minority groups by giving them special treatment, instead of treating all citizens equally. "Subscribe"

Suggestions to help improve a page

These discussions are more appropriate for the article’s talk page or the RFD or the section you already have above about this page. You do not need to keep bringing this article to the Simple Talk page and pinging multiple people. Reciprocal sanctions

I first brought this idea up on this page in January but it did not receive much discussion. Based on the actions at pages like Soran-Persian War (1829-1834) and Ottoman-Soran War (1832–1834), I think we need to re-examine my thoughts. We are seeing significant conflict over these articles between users who are often "locked out" of editing these topics at the English Wikipedia due to them being under the contentious topic sanctions which require a user holds extended confirmed status in order to contribute there.

As it was 6 months ago when I first brought it up, the biggest areas of concern seem to be caste articles, Indian military history articles, and Kurd & Kurdistan articles. Nothing has changed, just some of the players.

It is currently being addressed via some protections right now, but I think we need to examine a longer term solution for this problem. CountryANDWestern (talk) 15:08, 20 July 2026 (UTC)

I agree that something needs to be done, but I’m a little hesitant to defer to enwiki too much. Something that is contentious there may be totally unproblematic here. Reciprocal sanctions is a possible solution, similar to WP:ONESTRIKE but more targeted. I think editors sanctioned on Enwiki should at least be given a chance here, which is the principle behind onestrike. On the subject of editing restrictions/sanctions, who would issue them? We don’t have an arbcom here, and leaving it to individual admins could bring a level of randomness that we don’t want. Garsh (talk) 05:55, 21 July 2026 (UTC)
