I'm requesting fic for everything, and art for Six Ages and Long John Moore. (I'd definitely be delighted by an art treat in one of my other fandoms, though!)

Some fandoms have longer sections than others; I promise this isn't because of favoritism! It's just that I only had previous letters to work from for some fandoms, so those sections ended up longer.

The Fangs of the Heartstriker are the teeth of the Quetzalcoatl as well as the treasures of his family, and some fragment of his will lives on in them.

I'm requesting fic for everything, art only for some fandoms (but art treats/tricks would be lovely! I just can't always come up with good prompts for art, so I'm not requesting it specifically in most cases!) In addition, I would be up for interactive fiction in Marvel 616, Six Ages, or King of Dragon Pass.

It is also totally okay if you disregard my trick/treat preferences for extra gifts.

General Likes & Loves: Time travel fixit; time travel with the glorious angst of knowing you're overwriting your future to give the past a chance; time travel that results in forming new kinds of relationships with people, like becoming friends with someone who was an enemy in the old timeline. Strict honor codes. Worldbuilding. Wonder. Loyalty. Characters temporarily putting aside their weapons or sources of power as a show of trust. Best enemies, who might kill each other someday but fundamentally respect and trust each other, perhaps more than they do their nominal allies. Rivals and enemies becoming allies, or lovers, or swearing loyalty to one another. Kneeling. Unexpected mercy.

DNWs: on-page rape/noncon, unrequested setting-change AUs (as opposed to canon divergence, which I adore), stories that are entirely about sex, time loops.

A bit of a mishmash this time! I did a couple of very small icon batches and decided to lump them in with a medium one.

I recently stumbled upon a couple of interviews with Rachel Aaron, author of the Heartstrikers series.

I always like finding out how my favorite stories came to be! Interesting stuff.

It wasn't a surprise to me that A Dragon of a Different Color basically budded off of Book 5—there were some pacing issues (like how Marci has a complete character arc but Julius doesn't, and the way it seemed to be getting the UN and China plots dealt with in preparation for a Final Showdown) that kind of implied to me that they were once one book that got too big to handle, so some subplots were pulled forward. I hope that Marci's arc doesn't suffer in the next book the way Julius's did in this one, though!

Also not a surprise: Bob being on the cover of the last book. It's been clear for a while now that he's the driving force of the series, and I've been expecting him to take center stage in the end.

I was, however, surprised to find out how much One Good Dragon Deserves Another changed between drafts; so many things seem carefully foreshadowed that it was a bit of a shock to find that such a big swerve happened so early. And I wonder what the old version of the worldbuilding looked like. I do like what we got instead, but I have to wonder if, for example, Ghost was originally planned as something different. Not to mention Bob's pigeon, or the Leviathan... Or even if the magical drought had a different underlying cause.

Whatever the case may be, I'm very happy with the book she ended up writing; I think it's one of the strongest in the series, along with No Good Dragon Goes Unpunished, and Marci's arc in it is wonderful.

(Although now I kind of want to see those scenes she mentioned, from the scrapped Justin-centric take on One Good Dragon Deserves Another. I agree that letting him of all characters take over the book was a mistake, but I do like him and I would've liked to see how that played out...)

We know that one seat is elected from the Fangs, one from the rest of the clan, and one belongs to Bethesda in perpetuity.

What happens if she dies? Is there a contingency for that? (The constitution is both absolutely gigantic and written by a seer, so I kind of assume the answer is “if it’s going to be an issue, yes.” And plotwise I have no idea if I think she’s going to survive the series or not. Or if she’s going to regain her dragon form, for that matter.)

So, who is her heir in that situation?

This is the third Heartstrikers book, and probably my favorite—I love Chelsie's development, the new stuff with F-clutch, and Conrad's moment. I'm less into Marci's subplot, but that would be because Julius's is so much my thing.

There might be spoilers for book four below; I think I cut the most blatant ones, but there might still be something.
