I'm [archiveofourown.org profile] Sheliak on AO3 too.

Treats are always, always welcome!

I'm asking for fic for everything, art for Age of Apocalypse, Books of the Raksura, Heartstrikers and X-Men. Art treats welcome for the other fandoms too!

I'm a slow commenter, so please don't take the lack of a comment early on as an indication I hate what you made me!

DNWS
    General DNWs:
  • Time loops (including both stable time loops and Groundhog Day style time loops).
  • Rape/noncon.
  • Hopeless endings.
  • Unrequested setting-change or trope-based AUs (as opposed to canon divergence, which is pretty much always welcome)
  • Stories that are entirely about sex.
  • Mundane AUs.
  • Omegaverse.
  • Soulmates. (Soulbonds are great, though!

  • DNWs specific to Chronicles of the Kencyrath:
  • Jame/Tori as a central part of a story.
  • Harm to bonded creatures (e.g. Addy, Jorin, Drie's fish; also applies to original character creatures).

  • DNWs specific to Glorantha:
  • Any variant of the "Are Elmal and Yelmalio the same god or not?" mess.

  • DNWs specific to X-Men:
  • The Phoenix Force being portrayed as an intrinsically evil being.
  • Trevor Fitzroy.
  • Selene, the Shadow King, or Mojo playing a large role (exception: if I'm requesting Spiral, Mojo is okay then).
  • Any romantic pairings involving Empath.
  • Ororo/T'Challa--please don't even mention the marriage, even to say they're divorced.
  • Mutant!Moira.

    General Likes:
  • Time travel, including: time travel fixit; time travel with the glorious angst of knowing you're overwriting your future to give the past a chance; time travel that results in forming new kinds of relationships with people, like becoming friends with someone who was an enemy in the old timeline.
  • Strict honor codes.
  • Worldbuilding.
  • Alien POV.
  • A sense of wonder.
  • Loyalty.
  • Characters temporarily putting aside their weapons or sources of power as a show of trust.
  • Best enemies, who might kill each other someday but fundamentally respect and trust each other, perhaps more than they do their nominal allies. Rivals and enemies becoming friends, or allies, or lovers, or swearing loyalty to one another.
  • Kneeling. Physical gestures of loyalty or affection.
  • Unexpected mercy. Mercy in general, too.
  • Heroism in desperate straits, characters choosing to be heroic even in a dystopia or doomed world.
  • Magical abilities/superpowers in daily life.

  • Time Travel Likes
  • Time travel fixit.
  • Time travel with the glorious angst of knowing you're overwriting your future to give the past a chance.
  • Time travel that results in forming new kinds of relationships with people, like becoming friends with someone who was an enemy in the old timeline.
  • Crack pairings that suddenly make perfect sense due to time travel!
  • Characters gaining a new perspective--on other people, history, themselves, etc.
  • Characters who were neglected in canon getting to shine, including but not limited to those characters using their knowledge of the future to achieve great things.
  • In action series, characters using their future knowledge to become totally badass (especially when it's a female character doing this).

  • Worldbuilding Likes:
  • Culture! I really love a piece that gets into the POV of the culture it's depicting.
  • Family structure. How do people see their relationships? Which ones do they prioritize?
  • Craft details!
  • Clothing, cloth, fibers, weaving, spinning... Also jewelry. Who wears it? What does it indicate (e.g., gender, status, ...?)
  • Architecture, how homes and public buildings reflect a culture.
  • Food! What do people eat? How do they store food for the times when they can't farm/hunt/forage for more? Do they trade for food?

  • Hurt/Comfort Likes:
  • Leaders slowly earning the trust of traumatized people who have every reason to fear the worst from the world in general and possibly them in particular.
  • A character is disparaged by their own allies, but an unlikely person (such as an honorable enemy or captor) recognizes their excellence and tells them so.
  • I already mentioned unexpected mercy, but it goes here too: I love a buildup of fear and then relief, mercy from someone who (as far as the character knows) has absolutely no reason to be merciful.
  • Characters who have no mercy for themselves, but can have it for others, or whose friends and lovers disagree with their self-judgement.
  • Characters pushing themselves to their limits and beyond, and others being there to catch them when they do.
  • Characters going to great lengths to help one another.
  • The less-hurt person also being in some distress, and struggling with it, and perhaps taking comfort in their own ability to help others.
  • Characters who are convinced that they don't matter and no one cares learning that actually someone does care and does think they matter.
  • Rescues! Rescues where the rescuee is convinced no one's coming, implacable rescuers overcoming terrible obstacles to save their friends/lovers.

  • Art Likes:
  • Pen and ink. Watercolor. Charcoal.
  • Use of light and shadow.
  • Colors used to convey emotion.
  • In-universe symbolism (e.g. Gloranthan runes, or the Phoenix symbol from X-Men) incorporated into clothing or jewelry.
  • Limited color palettes can be very lovely!
  • Flowing lines.
  • Body language.
  • Poses: characters kneeling, fighting back to back, leaning on each other, pulling shawls around their shoulders.
  • "Royal ease" position, when appropriate (for gods and rulers).
  • Favorite artists: John R. Neill, Ivan Bilibin, Leo & Diane Dillon, Alphonse Mucha, Thomas Canty, James Gurney, Jan Pospíšil, Michelle Lockamy, Ellen Barkin. On the comics side of things, Dave Cockrum for character designs & clothing, John Byrne for body language, Alan Davis, David Aja (his Scarlet Witch covers especially).

Age of Apocalypse
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • High drama! Ridiculous hair and costumes! Heroism against the most desperate of odds!
  • That last is important to me—the AoA X-Men are darker than their 90s 616 counterparts were, but they're still heroes, they're doing the best they can in a horrible world, and that's important to me.
  • I also love the moments when they get to just be people and friends, like when Quicksilver's team manages to have hot drinks before a daring mission. Those moments of normalcy in the midst of their terrible world really get to me.
  • This is a great 'verse for h/c, which I love. Daring rescues! Thwarting someone's heroic sacrifice because they're not expendable, damnit! Characters soldiering on past their physical limits and then having to rely on their friends/lovers/teammates when they finally collapse!
  • Exploring Octopusheim! Given that the AoA X-Men moved around a lot, maybe that could have been one of their bases? And hey, exploring eldritch ruins (while wearing silly clothes!) would be a fun vacation for these guys. Also, I adore the octopus shirt and would adore fic or art where Paris ends up wearing it.

  • Notes:
  • I did not particularly like the later follow-up series, and would prefer not to receive fic/art based on those eras. If you want to write something post-apparent-destruction-of-the-timeline, please ignore the sequels and do your own thing.
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.

  • Paris Bennet:
  • I'm really intrigued by his relationship with Magneto—I have a thing for loyalty (including obsessive dysfunctional loyalty!), and their dynamic really interests me—Paris's worship of Magneto, the way Magneto keeps Paris in the dark about his full abilities (kind of reminds me of some of 616 Xavier's well-intentioned-but-shady moments with his students...)
  • I also ship him with Alison—bitter cynical woman/idealistic, less experienced guy does a lot for me. (On a lighter note: does she teach him to rollerskate?)
  • His man-out-of-time Crusader backstory hadn't been established in the 616 when AoA came out, so of course it wasn't touched on--but it'd be a fun angle to take with fic!
  • How did his early days with the team go?
  • Art: Octopus shirt; roller skates; kissing Dazzler; adjusting that mechanical thing he wears on his head (power limiter? hiding his telepathy from Apocalypse, or turning it off so he won't be found? does it give him headaches?); angsting over Magneto's helmet.

Books of the Raksura
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Raksura culture! I love the extended-family nature of the courts, and their etiquette.

  • Raksura physicality—spines, tails, wings, body language that incorporates these things.

  • Everything about the Fell hybrids.

  • The vastness and weirdness of the Three Worlds, all these civilizations and bizarre life forms and the ruins of older and possibly weirder ones—it's like a space opera setting on one planet, I love it.

  • Notes:
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.

  • General art prompts:
  • Raksura flying!
  • In general, I'm really into the Raksura's spiny dragonlike shifted forms—their body language in those forms, showing emotion with spines, or striking poses that humans can't.
  • Raksura jewelry!
  • The Fell hybrids braiding each other’s hair, or their own.
  • Navigating a Golden isles ship.

  • Cerise:
  • I really loved that "The Tale of Indigo and Cloud" was told from Cerise's POV; apparently dramatic star-crossed romance works best for me when told from the POV of one of the lovers' moms.
  • I was intrigued by her relationships with Indigo (probably the most functional mother-daughter queen relationship in the books!) and her warrior sisters, and also her relationship with Ruby.
  • Also—what is a "normal", mostly-healthy court like?

  • Consolation:
  • I love Consolation very much and eternally regret that she was introduced so late in the series. I'd love to see anything about her--her relationship with her father, siblings, the kethel and dakti she "adopted" as a kid, the rest of the flight; her overthrowing her mother; her learning to lead the flight (she was so young, it must have been hard!) Was it a hard decision to spare the young rulers? How did she win them over, or for that matter, the adult kethel and dakti, the ones who hadn't been part of her group?

  • Consolation's Father:
  • He must have been really something, to overcome a whole flight's influence on his children. What were some of the stories he told them? What did he think of Consolation taking in baby kethel and dakti--did he approve of it, or was he afraid they'd turn out normal, or both?
  • And I certainly wouldn't mind fixit for his fate, in the form of him living longer + maybe meeting other Raksura again. (What might he and Malachite make of each other?)

  • Delin-Evran-lindel:
  • I love Delin's curiosity, and how he manages to make friends with strange people (Moon! Kethel!) just by talking with them as if that's totally normal. What other strange people may he have encountered? I also really enjoy him frustrating his grandkids by being hard to look after, and I'd love to see more of what it's like to live in the Golden Isles.
  • Specific art prompt: Delin drawing.

  • Kethel:
  • Another character I would just really like to see more of! I love his love of stories, and how determined he is, and how very young he comes across--and how he's still doing his best, and still not easily intimidated.
  • I also really like his reform/revolutionary ideas--I mean, the way he consistently says that Consolation's way is better for the kethel and dakti, and wants to change things in the Fell as a whole even though he has no clear way of doing that. I'd love to see that followed up on.

  • Malachite:
  • I love how terrifying she is!
  • I love her relationships with her kids (including Shade and Lithe), and her friendship with Pearl (they both seem like they really needed a friend! I do also ship them). I find her relationship with Consolation really interesting--the mix of kindness (telling her that her name is a good one), suspicion and anger and old pain, and mentorship.
  • Alternately, what weird things have she and her warriors done? (Weirder than willingly being carried by a kethel in its sac is a pretty high bar!)
  • What was she like when she was younger—before the Fell attacked her original court, or when she was tracking down and destroying that flight?

  • Niran:
  •  I love Niran's progression from being suspicious of the Raksura to grumpy fire-forged friendship, to being resigned to hearing all about everyone's potential clutches on the way to the new colony. (And given how the Raksura are about sex, I do wonder if anyone propositioned him on that trip!)
  • And despite being amused by it, I do sympathize with his efforts to keep his beloved and reckless grandfather out of trouble. Other than that, I'd be interested in hearing what a "normal" voyage is like!
  • I’d also be interested in him meeting Selis.
  • Art: is "being a grump" an art prompt? Being very annoyed with an offsceen Raksura who has damaged his deck?
  • We don't get a whole lot of physical detail on the Golden Islanders, but they're not human anymore than anyone else is...

  • Selis:
  • Selis only shows up in the one book, but she's great and I'd love to see more of her! I love her grumpiness and how she turns out to be willing to help, and I love the scene where she frankly explains that Jade and Moon are helping her leave her awful family, and it's both perfect cover and the truth.
  • What happens to her after that? What's her life like in Imperial Kish? Does she ever meet Raksura again? (I'd also be interested in her meeting fellow grump Niran!)
  • Art prompt: Selis on the road.

Chronicles of the Kencyrath
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Jame/Tori as a central part of a story.
  • Harm to bonded creatures (e.g. Addy, Jorin, Drie's fish; also applies to original character creatures). (Other animal harm, e.g. characters hunting for food, is okay.)

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I love how deeply weird (and often creepy!) these books are, especially the first two.
  • I love the Kencyrath with their sharp-edged honor, "living on the edge of the knife" as Immalai once says.
  • The themes of loyalty that run so deep in the series.

  • And contrasting with that, the darkness and danger of blood-binding.

  • Sister-kinship, and the way the women's world holds power in secrets and solace in love.
  • House loyalty, and the way it complicates personal relationships.
  • The way the two functional colleges (Tentir and Mount Alban) along with the Women’s World are somewhat independant of the house structure while still partaking in it. That interplay is fascinating to me.
  • The Riverland, the Kencyrath's home that they don't understand in the slightest, with its walking trees and biting rocks and its gods. I'd love basically anything about the characters exploring their world.

  • Notes:
  • The incest in this fandom isn’t the draw for me, but I don’t object to it showing up in a gift either.
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.

  • General art prompts:
  • The Senetha!
  • Characters interacting with the Cloak, Knife, and Book.

  • Jame of Knorth :
  • Oh, Jame, who not only lives on the knife's edge of honor but dances there. I love her struggle to understand Tai-Tastigon (Jame and Tai-Tastigon is probably my favorite relationship in the series, which is saying something), her clear-eyed dedication to Kencyr honor, Bane as her dark mirror and demonic follower, her reluctant friendship with Kindrie, her friendships with Shade and Gorbel, her relationships with her mentors Tirandys and Sheth.
  • Art prompt: wearing the scyth-arms! Dancing as the B'tyrr!

  • Kindrie of Knorth:
  •  I've ended up really invested in Kindrie's relationship with Jame--they initially dislike each other, their powers are innately opposed, but they still try to help each other and end up caring for each other, too.
  • I'd also love to see more of Kindrie's time at Mount Alban!
  • For an AU scenario, apparently at one point the plan was for Kindrie's father to be Randiroc. Feel free to take that idea and run with it!

  • Randiroc of Randir:
  • I’d love to see something about his time at Tentir--was he a cadet there at the same time as Sheth and Harn?
  • I'm also intrigued by the sheer weirdness/severity of his Shanir powers, and the way that seems to have developed over time. His bonded carrion-eating butterflies are some of my favorite weird Kencyrath critters, too.
  • I'm really intrigued by his relationship with his House, the way the guy who's lived isolated in the wilderness for years is still too responsible to let Shade run away to join him, the way he sees to the dying assassins who just tried to kill him because that's his duty and his mercy to give. I'd love to see him acting as Lord Randir--I think he'd be good at it, and that it'd be a great challenge for everyone. (A meeting of the great lords involving him would also be delightful, as would be the process of Tori confirming him.)
  • And I do ship him with Jame--he'd be a decent choice politically (he's of high enough rank, deeply unlikely to take advantage, would survive the experience)--and I think their interactions could be a lot of fun.<
  • Art prompt: The wind-blowing Senetha; dyeing the horse.

  • Sheth Sharp-tongue:
  • I love Sheth as a mentor, to Jame and in general; his dedication to Tentir's rules ("Here, we are all blood kin"); his willingness to test those kin to the breaking point, because if they're going to break then let it be here, where no one else is likely to die for it. (On that note, Sheth testing Tori would be fascinating.) I love the parallels Jame sees between Sheth and Tirandys (and one could do things with their respective relationships with their brothers, as well as their lords), his friendship with Harn and Randiroc (and did he ever know Ashe?).
  • Art prompt: playing the flute; reacting sardonically to student shenanigans.

  • Terribend:
  • He's such a tragic character; I'd love either exploration of that or fixit (a universe where Kindrie keeps him from burning, perhaps, or where he otherwise seeks sanctuary with Jame and stays with her?).
  • I'm interested in his fraught relationship with Tirandys, and the way he also loved and mentored Jame. I love that he taught her to read the runes (including the Book Bound in Pale Leather!), giving her the power Gerridon never wanted her to have. I love that he gave her the Ivory Knife before her second wedding night--what if he'd done that the first time around?
  • And finally, the early books have him and Tirandys as members of House Randir, though that seemed to be forgotten later on--what might Bender think of the modern Randir characters?

  • Tirandys:
  • It says a lot about the Kencyrath that the classic paragon of Kencyr honor is a guy who ended up serving ultimate evil because of it (and also now thinks that he's made a mistake, but either can't or isn't willing to go back on that choice).
  • I'm okay with his tragedy--although I would never say no to canon divergence and/or fixit!
  • I would love to see more of his relationship with Bender (working for the same goals now, still unable to trust each other), or his mentorship of and love for Jame (who he's still willing to try to kill--did he see that as a mercy, I wonder?) I'd also be interested in him interacting with Shade. She's his great-niece, and like him, she's for a time caught between her blood kin (father and grandmother, usurper and false goddess) and her true lord. And she ends up making the opposite choice.

Glorantha
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • The Elmal/Yelmalio controversy. (I prefer Elmal, but since I've mostly prompted trolls I'd be just as happy to ignore the internal struggles of the sky gods!)

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Mythology!
  • Runes!

  • Notes:
  • Previous letters are here, and if you want you can also check out my King of Dragon Pass and Six Ages tags.

  • Argan Argar:
  • Argan Argar is the troll trade god, which also makes him effectively the god of any peaceful dealings between trolls and other sapient beings. Given that trolls are willing to eat everything and everyone, this is an important domain!
  • How did Argan Argar come into his domain? There's a story that he traded with Issaries for the Trade rune (which also stands for conciliation and communication)—how did they make that bargain, and what was the other half of it?
  • His mother Xenya, goddess of night, came into existence and relevance when the Sun's death drove the uz out of Wonderhome. Argan Argar, likewise, became a god worth worshipping when trolls had to deal with the surface peoples—a new god for a new situation. That idea, the forces that shape religion working even when the gods are real and physical, fascinates me.
  • I love the story of Argan Argar's romance with Esrola—feel free to retell or expand on it! And he's sometimes numbered among Ernalda's husbands (before that, or consolidating her with her sister-aspect Esrola). I'm curious about that relationship, too—two diplomats and (to their own, at least) benevolent schemers…

  • Argrath Venharlsson:
  • I got unexpectedly invested in this Argrath! The fairytale of the Karandoli clan—the king disappearing, his children following him and then showing up with strange requests, and the entire clan then vanishing into the Gods Realm—is really numinous, and I’m intrigued by the idea of this guy growing up there, in the realm of the gods outside of time, and then coming back into the mortal plane and negotiating bringing the clan back into their old tribe. For him I’m interested in the fairy tale/myth aspects of the story.

  • Cragspider:
  • I’m fascinated by characters on the edge of godhood in Glorantha. Cragspider is only a goddess because she didn’t choose to be one—that’s really intriguing to me! And so is the weird tangle oif her, the troll spider goddess Aranea, and Arachne Solara herself.
  • I’d also like to see more of troll society—I love the trolls, so show me Cragspider as a troll priestess-queen!

  • Ezkankekko:
  • The Only Old One was born during the Great Darkness, before Time, when the world of the gods and the world of mortals were not yet separate. And he lived through the Dawn and several Gloranthan ages. What's it like to experience time on that scale, to have survived through such changes?
  • As I mentioned re: Cragspider, I’m fascinated by Gloranthan characters who exist on the border of the divine. The Only Old One is one of those liminal beings—the son of two gods (and more specifically: a troll god of the Darkness pantheon and an Earth goddess generally worshipped by humans). He can appear as troll, human, and perhaps Darkness spirit (that last one might just be his followers). How does a being like that see the world, or worlds?
I'm also fascinated by the Only Old One's empire of sorts, which included both humans and trolls. How do such different people live together and deal with each other?
  • Ezkankekko was killed by Belintar the God-King (I'm a KODP fan, I almost called him the Pharaoh). But the children of the gods are tenacious of life. Perhaps he won't stay dead... There are surely Kitori and troll and perhaps Esrolian heroes who'd like to bring him back into the world.
Alternately: when a demigod hero dies, perhaps that opens up the chance for him to become a god...
  • Ezkankekko could probably have been a god, had he wished—he chose otherwise, to be a hero and a king but to live in Time. What did his parents think of that choice?
  • Is the Only Old One a priest of Argan Argar? What is it like to worship a god that you knew personally, your parent that raised you—even as such things are no longer possible?
  • Are there myths of Ezkankekko's youth, when he hadn't decided not to become a god?

Heartstrikers
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Magic! Dragon culture! Human/spirit bonds!
  • I love love LOVE how seer powers work. Basically my platonic idea lof seeing the future. I love that free will is integral to the process, and the angst and the dangers of it.
  • The fundamental optimism of the series—no sapient species is evil, even the Nameless Ends can be well-intentioned, the dragons (and the massively dysfunctional Heartstriker clan) have the potential to be better.

  • Notes:
  • My main ships for this fandom are Amelia/Svena and Marci/Julius, but I'm also into Amelia/Marci, Svena/Ian, Bob/his lady and Chelsie/Xian, and I'd be open to other things too.
  • I've read the sequel series; you don't have to read it or incorporate anything from it, but you can if you want to!
  • I've requested this fandom before.

  • Amelia the Planeswalker:
  • I love Amelia's cheerful, lazy, amoral love of life, her contempt for draconic politics, her dramatic boasts and threats.
  • I enjoy her friendship with Marci a lot. How do they work together post-series, as goddess and archmage?
  • How did she decide to run away with Bob—her baby brother, maybe just a hatchling still, runt of his clutch—and raise him? And what was her idea of raising a kid like?
  • What's her relationship with Conrad like? He wants her to rule the clan—is that just because he respects her strength and wants her in residence, or do they get along personally?
  • An incident from her rivalry with Svena, or a time they talked shop, teamed up, covered for each other, made out...
  • Art prompts: mid-boast, or pouring over her books of magic or the broken kosmolabe, or casting magic in dramatic movie-sorceress fashion.

  • The Black Reach:
  • here's a lot of tragedy in this character—his frustration with draconic nature, the way he always gets fond of seers and can't keep them from going down the path that ends in him killing them...
  • Bob says he loves to travel. Does he start again after the series ends? Maybe he could explore the DFZ, on his own or with Bob as a guide of sorts...
  • Does he miss his brother?
  • For art: sitting down to tea, or casting magic using his multicolored combined fire. Or I'd love a take on his dragon form!

  • Brohomir Heartstriker:
  • I love that Bob is both genuinely weird and eccentric, and genuinely terrifying and powerful. I love his relationship to Amelia, his love for her, their conspiracy, the lengths they're both willing to go for his future. I love how he sees Julius (totally doesn't understand him, throws him at problems because he knows it's going to work if not how) and how he ends up caring about him despite the way he uses him. I love his weird friendship with the Black Reach and would totally love a story about their postcanon vacation together.
  • (And, in the end... yep, I ship him with the Final Future. A lot.)
  • Art prompts: with his pigeon-lady! Or I'd love to see a take on his dragon form.

  • Chelsie Heartstriker:
  • Chelsie! Grim and terrifying and secretly intensely protective. I love her.
  • I love her relationship with Julius, the way she pulls him back from violence just as he already has with her.
  • I’d love to see her raising her youngest, or teaching Fredrick to use their Fang.
  • At the end of the series, she’s finally free of Bethesda and the role she hated so much! She has a lot of free time all of a sudden. What kind of hobbies might she try out?
  • Art treat idea: Chelsie curling up with a book, in human or dragon form, or posing for Xian to draw (ditto).

  • The Empty Wind:
  • What was he like before the magic drought? He thinks Marci wouldn’t approve of his prior self—does she ever learn more, or does he try to keep the details secret?
  • In the sequel series he's picked up a priesthood. How did that start? How does he interact with them?
  • Speaking of: as people start treating the Mortal Spirits like gods, does that pile of enchanted weapons in Reclamation Land start to attract pilgrims? It’s the site of Ghost’s first godly act, the first time he and Marci worked together to fulfill his purpose…
  • Art prompts: See-through kitty! See-through terrifying Roman Centurion!

  • The Final Future:
  •  It's so fitting that there's even a benevolent Nameless End in the series! (And it delights me that her presence leads to all the powerful characters who know what's actually going on being terrified of what appears to be a pigeon.)
  • I do ship her with Bob (his proposal was genuinely touching!), and I love that even an eater of planes can get lonely, can love people, can decide that she wants these people and these futures to keep existing.
  • Art: any combination of the black chains and the pigeon, her two forms.

  • Marci Novalli:
  • I love where Marci ends up, as a modern archmage. What is her job like?
  • What kind of relationship does she have with Ghosts's priests?
  • She and Julius are very cute together. I'd enjoy something sweet about their wedding or the early days of their marriage, when they're shouldering great responsibility but also taking moments for themselves.
  • Much as I ship her with Julius (they're so cute together), I also ship her with Amelia (the "be my treasure thing", Amelia's preference for female humans, the fact that Amelia trusts Marci with her fire and to take her into the underworld even though she's not hers) and with the spirit of the DFZ (they're both tough, scrappy survivors, and Marci is just the kind of person who made the DFZ what it--and its spirit--is).
  • When I originally read the series, I thought that the conclusion was going to involve Marci bargaining with the FInal Future, using the futures of humanity to get a timeline everyone could live with, with enough bend in it for free will. I’d still like to see that in an AU.
  • Art prompt: drawing a casting circle with chalk; cutting her hair at the beginning of the series; being all "my precious!" over the kosmolabe; petting her ghost cat or holding him in her lap; staring down her ghost centurion; riding Julius-the-dragon.

X-Men
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • The Phoenix Force being portrayed as an intrinsically evil being.
  • Trevor Fitzroy.
  • Selene, the Shadow King, or Mojo playing a large role.
  • Any romantic pairings involving Empath.
  • Ororo/T'Challa—please don't even mention the marriage.
  • Mutant!Moira.

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them? My id.
  • Mutant powers! I love exploration of mutant powers, how they work, how people use them in daily life, clever ways to use them in fights.
  • I love how totally bonkers X-Men comics can be. Space opera adventures one day, canon sword & sorcery AU the next? Of course!
  • Redemption arcs!
  • This is a great fandom for time travel! (Rachel's storyline was especially formative to my id.)
  • I love how dramatic so many of these characters are. Magneto, Storm, Exodus, lots of others—they live their lives turned up to eleven and I adore that. (I also love the idea of them bonding over how this is another person who understands the worth of drama!)
  • I have a thing for power—well, multiple things for power. I love superpowers themselves, the way they might change how their wielder sees the world. I love powerful women.
  • I'm a huge fan of the whole Jean/Phoenix/Rachel/Maddy tangle of identity and power and legacy.
  • I adore the octopus shirt and would be delighted to see it in fic/art. Ditto the Erik the Red costume/identity.

  • Notes:
  • My previous X-Men letters are here.

  • Bennet du Paris:
  • I enjoy his entire man-out-of-time angle (the medieval crusader who's now latched onto a new holy war), his great drama, his intensity, his ridiculous outfit, his poor decisions.
  • How did Magneto recruit him? Alternately, what if someone else had woken him up and been his introduction to the modern world? (Cyclops, Storm, Rachel, Jean...)
  • I ship him with Magneto (it's so easy to read his everything as a huge crush!) and Cyclops (there are so many parallels, and the idea of Exodus serving another king is fun. He's spent most of his existence either obsessively, worshipfully serving Magneto, trying to fill a Magneto-shaped hole in the world, or searching for an alternate target for worship...
  • Art: I do like that ridiculous outfit (or other ridiculous outfits!), but seeing him as a knight would also be fun! And I’d love art of him kneeling to his ruler.

  • Danielle Moonstar:
  •  Dani's original power, illusions tied to emotions, is one of my all-time favorite superpowers, ever. I also love her courage and determination--her last stand against the Beyonder is one of my favorite scenes in comics, and I love the issue where she faces down Death. I love her friendships with her teammates, and her student-teacher relationship with Magneto.
  • Art: I have a weakness for a bow and arrow, as well as her on her flying horse! I also like her hair.

  • Erik Magnus Lehnsherr:
  •  I love him as a nobly-motivated villain, as a man trying desperately to be something else, and as the teacher of the New Mutants.
I love his friendship with Ororo (and would be open to turning it romantic). In general, Magneto being friends with X-Men is a lot of fun!
  • I also love his relationships with his students, especially Dani and Illyana, and the mentor relationship he had with Kitty and Rachel.
  • I'd also love to see him interacting with his former students later on—I wish we'd seen more of him interacting with the New Mutants as a supervillain or as an X-Man later on.
  • I also love his sense of drama, and his tendency to make detailed statuary with his powers in the midst of conversations. (I tend to call him Magnus, but I don't mind if you call him Erik in your story instead.)
  • Art: Did he ever wear those marine costumes he had on Octopusheim himself? He also looks great on a throne, or using his powers to make art of his own.

  • Illyana Rasputin:
  • I love Illyana's rage, and her determination to do good despite her conviction that she's inherently evil (and I love her loved ones challenging that conviction). I love her relationships with Kitty and Magneto, and I'd also love to see her play off of Rachel or Madelyne. I'd love fixit for Inferno, too.
  • Her sometimes-dubiously-controlled teleportation powers are a great story hook! (As well as being a neat thing artwise.)

  • Irene Adler:
  • I love her relationship with Mystique, their long romance and partnership. I'd also really enjoy a story exploring her powers--what's it like to experience the world with precognition as your main sense?—or her relationship with Rogue.
  • Famously, Chris Claremont intended Raven and Irene to be Kurt's birth parents. Feel free to take this premise and run with it!
  • What went through her mind while she was leaving Raven messages to find after her death?
  • Art: I’m fonder of her second costume (the robe and mask) than the original.

  • Kurt Wagner:
  •  I love Kurt's kindness and his sense of fun. I really love his relationships with his teammates, and the moments when he helped mentor the New Mutants.
  • For characters he never had much to do with but could've--what if he interacted with Destiny, or with Magneto while he was at the school? I'd be interested in him bouncing off of anyone, really.
  • Art: I love his design and that tail, and the weird poses he can pull off—I love when he perches on a teammate or on the edge of furniture, and I love him crawling on walls or dangling by his tail, or wielding a sword with it. And it’s always fun when he swashbuckles!

  • Madelyne Pryor:
  • I am definitely a Madelyne Pryor Deserved Better person.
  • I'm really interested in fixit--while I loved some of the buildup to Inferno (Maddy was great in Genosha), I really hate what ended up happening to her in that storyline, and I'd love to see her come back from that (maybe with the aid of an old friend from the X-Men?) or take another path to begin with. Alternately, something from earlier in her timeline, before things got bad?
  • I'd be interested in her interacting more with Jean, Rachel, or the Phoenix outside of battle—I love that whole tangle of identities and powers.
  • I really loved her as a member of the X-Men, and I'd love to see a world where she stayed there longer, helping the team despite her lack of powers. I'd also love to see her interacting with her teammates from that era, especially Ororo (I totally ship them).
  • Or her reconnecting (maybe reluctantly-at-first teaming up) with an old teammate much later, after things have gone bad?
  • She has a lot in common with Illyana, Rachel, Spiral--I'd love to see her interact with any of them.
  • For art purposes, I'm not a fan of her Goblyn Queen outfit; I prefer her yellow sundresses or pilot uniform.

  • Ororo Munroe:
  • I love her as a leader; I love her powers, and I love how she somehow manages to be even more badass without them. I love basically all her relationships on her team, and I'd enjoy seeing her play off of basically anyone.
  • I love when she pushes the people around her to be better, and I love when Callisto turned it back on her after the Massacre.
  • I ship her with basically half of her universe (but especially: Yukio, Callisto, Erik/Magnus, Madelyne, her harem of regal supervillains).
  • For art: I love both of her first two costumes, but also her civilian style was great fun! (And she seems to have an infinite supply of lightning-bolt earrings—does she seek those out or is it everyone’s default present for her?) And I think she’d look amazing on a throne. (I suspect her supervillain harem agrees.)

  • Phoenix Force:
  • I find the Phoenix really fascinating--the way it basically fell in love with Jean after convincing itself that it was her, and its more balanced relationship with Rachel.
  • I find its fascination with Cyclops intriguing, and I'd be interested in the Phoenix becoming interested in/obsessed with its hosts' other loved ones.
  • The way the Phoenix has ended up invested in mutants as a whole is intriguing, too.
  • And, although this is only in a couple of issues, I find its relationship with Death-as-an-entity-and-character really interesting as well.
  • I'm not into the "force of destruction" take on this character; I like the Phoenix better as a positive or balanced thing.
  • Art: It is very hard to go wrong with the giant cosmic firebird!

  • Rachel Summers:
  • I love Rachel's relationship with the Phoenix! She's my favorite Phoenix host, and I really wish she'd kept it permanently. (I love the idea that Rachel is the daughter of the Phoenix and Jean, or Jean, Scott, and the Phoenix all together.)
  • Rachel's time travel angst made a major, major impression on my id. I love the lengths she was willing to go to to give her past a better future, and I love that she was able to save her own universe too in the end. (Also super into that time she was willing to destroy the universe to thwart the Beyonder. Rachel as a well intentioned extremist a la Magneto, or even a successor to him, really appeals to me.)
  • Speaking of, I do love her relationship wtih Magneto, and would love seeing more if it!
  • I ship her with Kitty and with Illyana, who she's got so much in common with. (Both at once is fun too!)
  • Also interested in seeing her interact with Madelyne—the two of them exist in Jean’s shadow and have such different attitudes towards it and her.
  • For art: I love love LOVE how Rachel’s first Phoenix outfit looked when she was powered up. I also bet she’d rock the Erik the Red outfit!

  • Raven Darkholme:
  • I love her partnership with Irene, as lovers/wives, parents of a daughter, and as supervillains and would-be world-changers. I love how practical she could be, and how (in the 80s, at least) she had mysterious but basically sympathetic goals. I also really love her powers, and her interactions with Ororo.
  • Raven/Irene prompts: Irene is the only person Raven fully trusts, and even at her darkest Raven has always loved Irene. I'd love basically anything for these two, but for ideas: hashing out a plan together; Raven going to the underworld to resurrect Irene; Irene leaving messages to Raven from the past (angsty if Raven finds them after her death, but she could also send notes for Raven to find during a mission of some kind while she's still alive...).
  • While her relationship with Irene is one of my favorite ships of all time, I also ship her with other people! Especially other women—Ororo and Madelyne, for example.
  • For art, I like the moments when Raven lets down her guard and looks older. Also her in the midst of transformation. And hugs with Irene or her family members are always nice.
