• I already mentioned unexpected mercy, but it goes here too: I love a buildup of fear and then relief, mercy from someone who (as far as the character knows) has absolutely no reason to be merciful.

• That last is important—the AoA X-Men are more willing to kill than the main timeline ones, but they're still heroic. I love that about them.
  
• I also love the moments when they get to just be people and friends, like when Quicksilver's team manages to have hot drinks before a daring mission. Those moments of normalcy in the midst of their terrible world really get to me.

• ... yes, that is a terrifying wall of tags. There are SO MANY things I would love to see for these characters and this world!
  
• How did Alison or Remy join the team? I'm sure it was dramatic and that someone was in terrible trouble! For that matter, how exactly did Mags's rescue of Paris go?
  
• Dazzler/Exodus is such an odd pairing and I totally latched on to it. There's something about that bitter cynical woman/idealistic guy dynamic that I love. She's lost her dream of being a singer, and can be reckless and self-destructive about it; he's also clearly been through a lot. (If you want to take 616 Exodus's backstory and use the "man out of time, also empowered by Apocalypse and then imprisoned for eons" backstory, please do go ahead!) How did this pair get together? Does she ever still sing, or try to teach him to rollerskate?
  
• For Magneto & Exodus: I am very, very into loyalty, including obsessive dysfunctional loyalty! And their dynamic interests me, because the way Magneto treats Exodus in this 'verse—not quite trusting him, not telling him about his powers until absolutely necessary—is shady in a totally different way than the ways in which 616 Magneto is a terrible boss. It's a lot more like some of the dodgy choices that Charles Xavier has made with his students—there's affection there, and sure he's thinking of the greater good, but still. Alternately: how did Magneto rescue/recruit Exodus—it clearly made a big impression! (If you want to include a onesided crush, go ahead; if not, don't worry.)
  
• I have a deep-seated conviction that Magneto is only ever friends with men he's attracted to, and that therefore while Remy was convinced he was in a love triangle and his best friend Betrayed Him By Touching The Woman They Loved, Mags was hoping for something else entirely. Perhaps, after that initial misunderstanding, Mags and Rogue could rescue him from some dire fate and explain things properly before unchaining him, or whatever it is?
  
• Pietro/Ororo - Perhaps Pietro is injured, and Ororo has to step up as a leader like her 616 self, while worrying about him. Or Ororo's powers are temporarily thrown out of whack by an enemy, and they have to survive a blizzard that she isn't controlling... For these two, I'd like high drama to get through their shells.
  
• If at some point the X-Men retreat to Octopusheim and if someone (Paris, Remy, anyone really) wears the Octopus Shirt, I would be beyond delighted.

• I love the Three Worlds, how vast and strange they are—it's fantasy that feels like space opera, like this one planet is a whole galaxy's worth of aliens and ancient history and adventure.

• For the queen/consort prompt: This is a fandom where I adore OCs. The consort can be traumatized from a kidnapping (by Fell or just by a wicked Raksuran queen—characters talk so much about stealing of consorts that it's got to happen sometimes!) Or perhaps he's just convinced that he's undesirable (maybe he was overshadowed by handsomer brothers and cousins, or he's got nothing to offer, or a previous "marriage" Went Badly). Maybe he's widowed and feels at ends, useless, having neither children nor political connections. And then, of course, the dashing queen sweeps him off his feet, perhaps with a rescue first?
  
• Arbora/dakti: I am really intrigued by the idea of "lost" dakti that, free from control by rulers and progenitors, just run off and hide. Also into the Arbora's physical strength and protected position in the courts, and the idea of a person who should see this dakti as an enemy reaching out to them instead...
  
• Consolation's Father & Kethel or dakti: Consolation's father must have been really something, to have had the effect he did on her flight! He was also in a really horrific situation. Consolation was a bright spot in his life—were the other children, as well? How did he react to the dakti she adopted, and to Kethel at first? What kind of stories did he tell them? Did he start hair-braiding to physically differentiate them from the other Fell? (I would be up for a story in which Consolation's father survives longer than he did in canon.)
  
• Moon & Dusk: What kind of relationship might these two have had? Perhaps Dusk is alive when Malachite comes to the rescue, or perhaps he survives in captivity. Maybe Moon is with him among the Fell, and he clings to life for his child's sake; maybe they meet years later, and Moon is dealing not just with a terrifying mother and a hybrid half-brother but a traumatized father. Or maybe Opal Night manages to discover Moon as a child or adolescent, and Dusk is overjoyed to see his kid again, but also, he's frightened and distrustful, and that hurts in turn...

• I'm into canon-compliant, canon divergent, Shikako born in different times, Gardens, post-split, all that good stuff.
  
• Shikako & Tenzou: These two don't interact much, but they do have an important person in common and they're both in Anbu! Long-term missions, refusing to leave each other behind, all that good stuff. Or: Tenzou doesn't have much of a masks-off life, but maybe he's starting to try that out! And I like the idea in recursive fic of Tenzou trying to look out for younger Anbu members! I'm also really intrigued by versions of Shikako that are Tenzou's age, or closer to it! Or Gardens where she meets him when he's in Root and intervenes, or post-Split worlds where she meets him and goes, well, different world and all but this is my sensei's teammate and friend and of course I'm helping him! (Also thinking of that one AU on the forums where Tsunade was clearly about ten minutes from adopting them into the Senjuu clan--maybe that could happen in other 'verses? She's got the clan sword and he's got the bloodline... And now Tenzou is her clanmate as well as team, and he doesn't trust their clan head so clearly she has to make up the difference there!)
  
• Shikako & Shisui: I love these two as friends, either in worlds where they grow up together as peers or in Gardens where she's this stranger out of nowhere and he latches onto her as a friend anyway. For h/c, maybe they've been in Root together, or have had to go on the run because of Danzou, or Shisui has given up on non-Uchiha friends AND THEN. Or she stumbles into a new world and immediately has to rescue Shisui from bad guys! That's always fun. Or she's temporarily died around him for the first time!
  
• Shikako & Gaara: I love how much she trusts him, and how much that means to him, and how relieved she is to finally have someone else working against Akatsuki, even if they're not going to collaborate. So: perhaps they do collaborate against Akatsuki? Or a Garden where Shikako can't go home to Konoha for whatever reason (it never formed, all her important people are dead or outlaws, she's persona non grata for killing Danzou, etc). Or temporarily taking shelter in Suna for one reason or another...
  
• Shikako & Haku, Shikako & Zabuza: Shikako and Haku are just friends despite all the tension of being from different villages, and Shikako sees Zabuza as a mentor rather than someone to fear, which has to be kind of surreal for him! So I fell like these relationships would also work well for "Shikako has to go to ground in an allied village, possibly while recovering from being in the black" or for a Garden where she intervenes in Mist instead of/in addition to Konoha, or a post-Split where she doesn't go back to Konoha but makes a life elsewhere instead.
  
• Shikako & Sai & Sasuke: Team feelings! Not exactly team 7 but team nonetheless! Shikako knows Sai is Root but reaches out to him anyway; Sasuke doesn't know what's going on but Shikako's his teammate and Sai is her friend. Some ideas: Taking the Sai backstory from some recursive fic: Shikako and/or Sasuke find out that Sai is their kidnapped relative and react to that. Sasuke is technically a clan head and can totally adopt people if he needs to, thereby extending some protection to Sai! (Whether or not you're using the backstory above.)
  
• Darkfire edition: I really want to know how things go when (a) Shikako ends up in this universe again, post-Split. She's not the Shikako this Sasuke and Hikaku lost, and they're not her Sasuke and Sai, but they all care for each other even though they know the history doesn't match up—and they've risked so much for her. Also, they've presumably been through some political upheaval, and she's been through whole worlds' worth of adventure and probably trauma! (Have things cooled down enough that she can be taken in by this Nara clan, or does Sasuke adopt her into the Uchiha? They can always take another cousin! And hey, she *is* related to this version of Sai...)
  
• ... Feel free to use that last for another post-Split universe, actually: Adopted Uchiha Shikako is a scenario I quite like!

• These two! I love how protective Fashtall is. I love that Jenniver is the only one to get Fashtall's sense of humor (and the only one to call her Fashtall instead of her other nickname Snarl). I love that Fashtall is the one other person who can open Jenniver's locks, and that she encourages Jenniver to transfer out of Security (with her) and to a job that she'll be happier in.
  
• How did they meet and become friends/begin falling in love? Jenniver thinks at one point that she would've gone mad without Fashtall's company; she must've been in a pretty bad place, before they became close.
  
• Or: away missions gone wrong! Surviving on their own!
  
• I'd love Fashtall's point of view, how she sees Jenniver.
  
• Jenniver is frightened of other people's physical fragility. How might she react to Fashtall being hurt? On the other hand, Jenniver is so used to taking her own indestructibility for granted—she has no context for being hurt herself, aside from thinking it means she's a failed Changed...
  
• If an adversary is needed, there's always the terrible security chief preceding Mandala Flynn—the one who did not spit in Jenniver's face because she was too tall for him to reach.

The Heartstrikers

Heartstrikers-Specific Likes:
• Postapocalyptic urban fantasy! I love the setting of this series so much.
  
• I love the complicated messy family aspects too.
  
• I love that Julius becomes more of a pacifist as things go on, not less, and that that's exactly what his world and his species need--but it will never be easy, either.

• Things I love about EFRW in general: The way the harems support and protect each other! Rose (and John when he's good and alive) slowly earning the harems' trust even though they look just like the people who put them through hell! All the unexpected mercy and all the times the harems justifiably expect the worst and it somehow does not come!
  
• Things I love about the Dead John branch in particular: Rose's isolation and loneliness (I love all the flavors of woobiness this 'verse has to offer). Rose's badassery. Unexpected harem favorite Sollux and his weird slow friendship with Rose (I also totally ship them as moirails). • Things I love about the Ancestors branch in particular: The way the kid-trolls are terrified of the adults but still fold them into the harem solidarity network, because how could they not? The possibility that the adults feel responsible for the kids getting targeted for trauma in the first place!

I would also definitely be up for a hybrid in which Rose, having killed Evil John and sent someone back to get Gamzee and various tied-up boys from wherever they'd been stashed, realizes that in addition to all the horrors she's seen so far today there are traumatized Ancestors chained up in the basement. • Darkleer and Equius: What a way to meet your ancestor/descendant! I tend to see Darkleer as really isolated even among the Ancestors (depressedly convinced that the others hate him either for being loyal to the Empire or for betraying it at the last), so seeing Equius with close friends/allies and a loving moirail would really get to him. (Plus he never exactly had a relationship with the Disciple, I think? It was more of a one-off action, and her feelings about him have always been complicated and at least partly negative. Equius and Nepeta are so functional in comparison!) His descendent has made such good choices, he'd think. And Equius could be in the awkward position of having to order his Ancestor to be less self-destructive and let the medics help him!
  
• Rose and the Dolorosa: So Rose has already been struggling with Kanaya (her beloved's doppelganger, who sees her as an enemy but can't act on that because of the situation). And now she meets the Dolorosa, who may not be as exact a lookalike (I assume that the Ancestors have had longer to get humongous than the main harems have), but who likely doesn't have quite the same level of Trauma associated with Rose...
  
• Kanaya & the Grand Highblood: I love unlikely friendships and rescues, especially in this universe! Also, I expect that Kanaya would be deeply satisfied to whip out a chainsaw and rescue anyone from tentacles. Meanwhile, GHB has no particular allies among the other ancestors and doesn't know what to make of these harem youngsters at all...
  
• Nepeta/Equius: These two have spent so long separated and terrified for each other, desperate for news but also not wanting to see each other because of what that would entail—and suddenly they get tossed in together again! It's a splendid relief, but also: here are all the scars, visible and not, that they couldn't prevent their moirail from getting. And both of them must worry that they've been unfaithful, as the harems' keeping-each-other-as-safe-as-we-can did tend a bit pale at times...
  
• Rose & Sollux: I really love the relationship these two have in the Dead John branch, where Sollux is so totally out of fucks that he doesn't bother to engage survival filters with terrifying just-killed-her-husband Rose, and she just appreciates that one person is telling her what they're thinking and freeing her from trying to consider the ten horrible ways the harems may have just interpreted her she-thought-reasonable statement. Everything about Sudden Harem Favorite Sollux is a delight. (And I would be totally happy if they ended up as moirails.)

• Tenzou & Tsunade: I'm really intrigued by the idea that Tenzou started out wary/perhaps even afraid of Tsunade (discomfort with medics, worry that she'd react badly to the Mokuton thing--it is bloodline theft of a sort, the fact that she's after all Orochimaru's old teammate...), and I'd be interested in seeing him get to the point of trusting her and being loyal to her (she's the best Hokage, after all!).
  
• Perhaps Danzou sends Tenzou after Tsunade while she's off gambling and drinking, for terrible Danzou reasons of some kind. She's still one of the Sannin, so she ends up winning the fight and then realizes she's got a traumatized youngster on her hands who might just be related to her, and is definitely proof that Konoha can't be left as it is now.
  
• How does Tsunade, who's lost so much of her family, feel about Tenzou's weird connection to her grandfather? On that note, I'd also be interested in a canon divergence AU where they have a more familial relationship.
  
• I really love stories where Sakura gets to be awesome. Time travel and save the world? Rescuing her love interest from bad guys? Being a great medic and a great fighter, or competent at basically anything? Other characters (especially but not limited to LIs) getting how great she is? Yes please. Singlehandedly taking down Root? Taking down Root with awesome teamwork? All of that.
  
• Which dovetails nicely with another love of mine: ROOT recovery! I am all for Root agents (current or former) learning to human and realizing that their friends/lovers care about them, and that they care back and what is this feeling?
  
• As mentioned above, I like the idea of Tenzou being kind of scared of medics due to his history with experimentation. Sakura isn't used to her teammates fearing her—how does she feel about it, and how does she try to win his trust? Plus, Tsunade is her adored teacher...
  
• Kisame seems like someone who would appreciate Sakura's capacity for violence! And she'd appreciate his capacity for loyalty. (Would love to see her earning that loyalty for herself or her cause/village! Or alternately, Sakura time travels permanently to the Bloody Mist for reasons, and decides that there's no way she's going to let Kisame go down his canon path...)
  
• I love Sakura rescuing Kisame (whether from bloodline thieves or not). I also love "forced to work together to survive" scenarios, or the two fo them teaming up against another enemy!
  
• Kisame/Tobirama is a total crack pairing that I've gotten terribly attached to. They're both intensely suspicious, so the idea of them getting to trust each other, work together and ultimately kiss delights me!
  
• Perhaps they meet via time travel: the experience of not being a missing-nin because no one has invented villages yet is kind of surreal for Kisame. So's the fact that the Tobirama is trying to recruit him... But Kisame knows every negative consequence of Konoha forming, and of Tobirama killing Izuna. He's seen the ramifications of those choices, and how they affected his partner (as well as the leader of Akatsuki). That could go some interesting places...
  
• Whoever he's paired with, I'm deeply into Kisame's relatiosnhips with loyalty and truth.
  
• One last general prompt: Time traveling teams are love. (Especially if one traveler is going to be stuck in Root for a while, and their teammate/lover has to support them while they work on taking down Danzou...)

• Most of these tags lend themselves well to culture clash, where the powerful woman means to behave honorably but manages to freak out her captive/concubine/etc because she doesn't know how to signal that she means well.
  
• I think that they would also go very well with "begging for mercy on behalf of a third party" scenarios!
  
• For time travel: The guy died in the original timeline; saving him isn't the woman's main goal, but when she sees him again she knows she has to change his fate as well. (Possibly this involves capturing him!)
  
• Drow/captor: Maybe she showed mercy when she captured him and now he's intrigued; maybe he just has nothing to go home to. Maybe she thinks that's a crying shame and his people clearly don't deserve to have him! Maybe he's trying to prove his worth so she won't get rid of him/try to trade him back, or she's trying to convince him that her regard is real. (Maybe she's also from a matriarchy, but a nicer/more functional one?)
  
• Warlord/drow concubine: Maybe the warlord has an alliance with a drow matriarch, who has sent her son as a concubine--said son has no idea what the surface world is like and is deeply freaked out. Maybe the matriarch died before the deal was fully sorted out, or double-crossed the warlord, leaving the concubine uncertain of his position? (I've been assuming F/M for this tag based on drow gender roles, but if you want to write F/F please go ahead.)
  
• Warlord/captive: I like the idea that this guy has impressed the warlord with his cleverness; he assumes that he's only annoyed her by prolonging the conflict/stepping above his station, and is assuming the worst. But she's the honorable sort and is perhaps considering if it would be reasonable to try to recruit him, even though they're enemies...
  
• Does the pirate captain know the snake-man slave already, or is their meeting an accident? Is this a rescue or something more complicated? (And is he a naga, snakelike humanoid, shapeshifter, etc?)
  
• For the woman/her sister's abused husband prompt—how much does the woman know about her sister's conduct? Does she have any way to help her sister's husband while said sister is alive, or not? Does he assume she knows what's going on and will carry on in the same way in her time?

And she's young and out of her depth, but doing her best.
