I'm requesting fic for everything, and art for Six Ages and Long John Moore. (I'd definitely be delighted by an art treat in one of my other fandoms, though!)

Some fandoms have longer sections than others; I promise this isn't because of favoritism! It's just that I only had previous letters to work from for some fandoms, so those sections ended up longer.

Thank you for taking a look!

    General Likes:
  • Time travel, including: time travel fixit; time travel with the glorious angst of knowing you're overwriting your future to give the past a chance; time travel that results in forming new kinds of relationships with people, like becoming friends with someone who was an enemy in the old timeline.
  • Strict honor codes.
  • Worldbuilding.
  • Alien POV.
  • A sense of wonder.
  • Loyalty.
  • Characters temporarily putting aside their weapons or sources of power as a show of trust.
  • Best enemies, who might kill each other someday but fundamentally respect and trust each other, perhaps more than they do their nominal allies. Rivals and enemies becoming friends, or allies, or lovers, or swearing loyalty to one another.
  • Kneeling. Physical gestures of loyalty or affection.
  • Unexpected mercy. Mercy in general, too.
  • Heroism in desperate straits, characters choosing to be heroic even in a dystopia or doomed world.
  • Magical abilities/superpowers in daily life.
  • Powerful women. Women holding power over men. Femdom.
Characters who have high standards and ruthlessly apply those standards to themselves.
  • Righteous rage.
  • Competence.
  • Hurt/comfort.
  • Close platonic friendships.
  • Diplomatic/nonviolent solutions being viable!
  • ... not to say I don't appreciate a nice badass fight scene, though, especially when it's a female character being badass.
  • Characters pushing themselves to their limits and beyond, and others being there to catch them when they do.
  • Characters going to great lengths to help one another.
  • Characters who are convinced that they don't matter and no one cares learning that actually someone does care and does think they matter.
  • Rescues! Rescues where the rescuee is convinced no one's coming, implacable rescuers overcoming terrible obstacles to save their friends/lovers.
  • Characters pleading mercy on behalf of others, either in a desperate "you're going to kill me but please don't kill them to" situation or in a more formal "please spare him, my liege!" situation.

  • Use of light and shadow.
  • Limited color palettes can be very lovely!

Age of Apocalypse

Fic, Trick, Treat
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • High drama! Ridiculous hair and costumes! Heroism against the most desperate of odds!
  • That last is important to me—the AoA X-Men are darker than their 90s 616 counterparts were, but they're still heroes, they're doing the best they can in a horrible world, and that's important to me.
  • I also love the moments when they get to just be people and friends, like when Quicksilver's team manages to have hot drinks before a daring mission. Those moments of normalcy in the midst of their terrible world really get to me.

  • Notes:
  • I did not particularly like the later follow-up series, and would prefer not to receive fic/art based on those eras. If you want to write something post-apparent-destruction-of-the-timeline, please ignore the sequels and do your own thing.
  • I think I may have misspelled Paris's last name in the tags, I'm so sorry!
  • I've requested this fandom before.

  • All Character Prompts:
  • This is a great 'verse for h/c, which I love. Daring rescues! Thwarting someone's heroic sacrifice because they're not expendable, damnit! Characters soldiering on past their physical limits and then having to rely on their friends/lovers/teammates when they finally collapse!
  • Exploring Octopusheim! Given that the AoA X-Men moved around a lot, maybe that could have been one of their bases? And hey, exploring eldritch ruins (while wearing silly clothes!) would be a fun vacation for these guys. Also, I adore the octopus shirt, and would adore fic or art where anyone ends up wearing it.

  • Alison Blaire:
  • I definitely ship her with Paris; bitter cynical woman/idealistic, less experienced guy does a lot for me.
  • How did she join the team? She wanted to be a singer in this universe too, and she's still bitter about the loss of that dream (and can be kind of self-destructive about it);
  • I adore her original (in this universe) costume, with the blue/black and gold. Not a fan of her later one with the cut-outs.
  • Does she ever try to teach anyone else to rollerskate—Paris, Blink, any of the others?

  • Paris Bennett:
  • I'm really intrigued by his relationship with Magneto—I have a thing for loyalty (including obsessive dysfunctional loyalty!), and their dynamic really interests me—Paris's worship of Magneto, the way Magneto keeps Paris in the dark about his full abilities (kind of reminds me of some of 616 Xavier's well-intentioned-but-shady moments with his students...)
  • His man-out-of-time Crusader backstory hadn't been established in the 616 when AoA came out, so of course it wasn't touched on--but it'd be a fun angle to take with fic!
  • How did his early days with the team go?

Cat-Eye Willie Claims His Lover

Fic, Trick
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • While I am fine with the canonical rape being mentioned, I DNW it being depicted/on-page, and DNW any other rape.
  • I don't want a mundane explanation for what's going on.

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I love how creepy this song is, and how old it feels despite being modern.
  • I love Bonnie's defiance, and the revenge she takes, even if it's going to screw her over in the long run.
  • I'm fond of murder ballads (and "killing in self-defense" ballads).

  • Notes:
  • Listen to the song here on Youtube.
  • Read the lyrics here.

  • Cat-Eye Willie:
  • Who or what is Cat-Eye Willie? There's clearly something supernatural about him.
  • He and Bonnie have a history—how did they meet?

  • Bonnie Brown:
  • How did the fateful card game come to happen, and did Bonnie already have the silver dagger then?
  • What kind of relationship does Bonnie have with her cat-eyed son?
  • How does Willie's dying curse effect her and her family, and how does she deal with that?
  • What do you think happens at the end of the song? Bonnie is planning for her death—is she dying, planning to kill herself (why?), or simply looking ahead in a moment of depression? Who is the "one master" she has served?

The Heartstrikers

Fic, Trick, Treat
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Magic! Dragon culture! Human/spirit bonds!
  • The fundamental optimism of the series—no sapient species is evil, even the Nameless Ends can be well-intentioned, the dragons (and the massively dysfunctional Heartstriker clan) have the potential to be better.

  • Notes:
  • My main ships for this fandom are Amelia/Svena and Marci/Julius, but I'm also into Amelia/Marci, Svena/Ian, and Chelsie/Xian, and I'd be open to other things too.
  • I've read the sequel series; you don't have to read it or incorporate anything from it, but you can if you want to!
  • I've requested this fandom before.

  • Amelia the Planeswalker:
  • I love Amelia's cheerful, lazy, amoral love of life, her contempt for draconic politics, her dramatic boasts and threats.
  • I enjoy her friendship with Marci a lot. How do they work together post-series, as goddess and archmage?
  • How did she decide to run away with Bob—her baby brother, maybe just a hatchling still, runt of his clutch—and raise him? And what was her idea of raising a kid like?
  • What's her relationship with Conrad like? He wants her to rule the clan—is that just because he respects her strength and wants her in residence, or do they get along personally?
  • An incident from her rivalry with Svena, or a time they talked shop, teamed up, covered for each other, made out...

  • The Black Reach:
  • There's a lot of tragedy in this character—his frustration with draconic nature, the way he always gets fond of seers and can't keep them from going down the path that ends in him killing them...
  • Bob says he loves to travel. Does he start again after the series ends? Maybe he could explore the DFZ, on his own or with Bob as a guide of sorts...
  • Does he miss his brother?

  • Ghost:
  • What was he like before the magic drought? He thinks Marci wouldn’t approve of his prior self—does she ever learn more, or does he try to keep the details secret?
  • In the sequel series he's picked up a priesthood. How did that start? How does he interact with them?
  • Speaking of: as people start treating the Mortal Spirits like gods, does that pile of enchanted weapons in Reclamation Land start to attract pilgrims? It’s the site of Ghost’s first godly act, the first time he and Marci worked together to fulfill his purpose…

  • Marci Novalli:
  • I love where Marci ends up, as a modern archmage. What is her job like?
  • What kind of relationship does she have with Ghosts's priests?
  • She and Julius are very cute together. I'd enjoy something sweet about their wedding or the early days of their marriage, when they're shouldering great responsibility but also taking moments for themselves.
  • Much as I ship her with Julius (they're so cute together), I also ship her with Amelia (the "be my treasure thing", Amelia's preference for female humans, the fact that Amelia trusts Marci with her fire and to take her into the underworld even though she's not hers) and with the spirit of the DFZ (they're both tough, scrappy survivors, and Marci is just the kind of person who made the DFZ what it--and its spirit--is).

  • Spirit of the DFZ:
  • I really love "character's relationship with city" stories, and the DFZ makes that gloriously literal.
  • How does she manage with Myron, post-series? Or: AU where Marci is her Merlin instead of Ghost's?
  • The DFZ is a living, moving city. Which is grand and exciting and terribly inconvenient if she moves your house while you're out, or the main road of your commute while you're on it! How do people cope with that? Do they pray/try to talk her out of doing it, or into doing it at a better time, and does she ever listen?
  • I love that she's a rat! It underlines so much about her--cleverness, survival in adversity, a despised creature (despised by her creator Algonquin, anyway) who's so much smarter and kinder and better than anyone thinks to credit her for... until they do.
  • Sequel prompt: The DFZ wants to change herself, to be better, and because of her nature she has to do that indirectly, through her inhabitants. That's fascinating to me, and I'd like to see her figuring out what she has to do, her early attempts at it...
  • In the sequel she's so proud of her five whole priests, it's adorable. How did she get her first one?

Long John Moore

Fic, Art, Treat
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • For this fandom, I'm definitely looking for something lighter and cheerful. I love the sweetness of the love story, the surprisingly sensible and ethical giants to the rescue.

  • Notes:
  • Read the lyrics here.
  • Listen here. (This recording cuts some lines from the lyrics, but it's otherwise the same.)

  • Long John Moore, King's Daughter:
  • How did they meet and fall in love? What is the princess's life with the giant family like after the song?
  • The stern way Long John's relatives ask if he's actually committed a crime worthy of death makes me wonder if they were afraid he'd actually done something terrible—is he a bit of a wild child?
  • How did Long John come to London? What did his family think of the matter?
  • I'd be up for canon divergence where the king's daughter has to do more--maybe one where she has to help save her lover, or something where she interacts more with the giant family before the wedding?
  • Art of the two of them together would be lovely--maybe the princess sitting on the giant's lap or shoulder, or the two of them dancing together despite the height difference?

  • Old John, Jackie North, Jean of the Sign:
  • I really appreciate that the giants take the time to make sure that their relative hasn't actually committed a terrible crime before they spring him, and that (in the longer version) they also specifically come to the defense of the servant boy who brought them the message. They seem like good people, and very sensible under pressure.
  • I'd like to see them interacting more with the princess, after the song or in an alternate version (perhaps if they'd needed her help to rescue Long John, or wanted to hear her side of the story?)
  • Jean of the Sign is only briefly mentioned (and cut from Bill Jones' version), but I'm curious! What would she have done if she'd been invited? Why wasn't she, in fact? Is she going to be unhappy to have missed the excitement?
  • Art ideas—the giants kicking down the city wall, the scene with Long John at the gallows; the implied size difference even among the giants (Jean of the Sign is over twice as tall as Long John!)...

Marvel 616 (X-Men, New Mutants)

Fic, Trick, Treat
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Trevor Fitzroy.
  • Selene, the Shadow King, or Mojo playing a large role (exception: I'm fine with Mojo being a major character in a Spiral story).
  • Any romantic pairings involving Empath.
  • Ororo/T'Challa--please don't even mention the marriage.
  • Mutant!Moira.

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them? My id.
  • Mutant powers! I love exploration of mutant powers, how they work, how people use them in daily life, clever ways to use them in fights.
  • I love how totally bonkers X-Men comics can be. Space opera adventures one day, canon sword & sorcery AU the next? Of course!
  • Redemption arcs!
  • I love how dramatic so many of these characters are. Magneto, Storm, Exodus, lots of others--they live their lives turned up to eleven and I adore that. (I also love the idea of them bonding over how this is another person who understands the worth of drama!)
  • I have a thing for power—well, multiple things for power. I love superpowers themselves, the way they might change how their wielder sees the world. I love powerful women.
  • Aside from a small number of NOTPs (see DNWs), I am a pretty committed multishipper in this fandom. I like many, many ships and can get onboard with still more!
  • I'm a huge fan of the whole Jean/Phoenix/Rachel/Maddy tangle of identity and power and legacy.
  • As I mentioned under AoA, I adore the octopus shirt and would be delighted to see it in fic/art.

  • Notes:
  • I'm most familiar with/fond of the 80s Claremont runs on Uncanny X-Men and New Mutants, though I have some favorite characters from later on.
  • My previous X-Men letters are here, and my previous New Mutants letters are here (there's a lot of overlap).

  • Bennet du Paris:
  • I enjoy his entire man-out-of-time angle (the medieval crusader who's now latched onto a new holy war), his great drama, his intensity, his ridiculous outfit, his poor decisions.
  • How did Magneto recruit him? Alternately, what if someone else had woken him up and been his introduction to the modern world? (Cyclops, Storm, Rachel, Jean...)
  • I ship him with Magneto (it's so easy to read his everything as a huge crush!) and Cyclops (there are so many parallels, and the idea of Exodus serving another king is fun. He's spent most of his existance either obsessively, worshipfully serving Magneto, trying to fill a Magneto-shaped hole in the world, or searching for an alternate target for worship...

  • Danielle Moonstar:
  • I love Dani's original powerset—her emotion-fueled illusions are one of my favorite superpowers in all of comics. Also her courage (that last stand against the Beyonder!), her friendships with her teammates, and her relationship with Magneto.

  • Erik Lehnsherr:
  • I love his friendship with Ororo (and would be into it turning romantic, too). In general, Magneto being friends with X-Men is a lot of fun!
  • I love Magneto as a teacher and mentor—to the New Mutants, Kitty Pryde, Rachel Summers—and I'd love to see more of that.
  • I'd also love to see him interacting with his former students later on—I wish we'd seen more of him interacting with the New Mutants as a supervillain or as an X-Man later on.

  • Gabrielle Haller:
  • I love that she's introduced as a political power as well as someone with a Past with Xavier, that she's committed to both her son and her job, and that she gets to be visually middle-aged in comics. I also like her and Xavier as exes. I'd love to see exploration of her political career, or her relationships with Erik/Magnus or Moira, or with Xavier (although in that last case, most interested in them as exes reconnecting after a long gap).

  • Haroun ibn Sallah al-Rashid:
  • I love the Hellions (well, other than Empath) and would love any kind of fixit for one or all of them. For Haroun in particular, I liked his rivalry with Sam and his flirtation with Amara, and I really loved the scene where, while the New Mutants are at the Academy following their troubles with the Beyonder, he tells Emma Frost that he's worried about them.
  • I'm also partial to the backstory that I'm not sure ever made it out of the Handbook of the Marvel Universe, that the reason he's a cyborg is that he injured himself badly when he first used his powers, and the Hellfire Club patched him up afterwards--it made for a nice bit of angst, and it's an interesting contrast with Sam.

  • Illyana Rasputina:
  • I love Illyana's rage, and her determination to do good despite believing she's already damned. I love her relationships with Kitty and Magneto, and I'd also love to see her play off of Rachel (they have so much in common!) or Madelyne. I'd love fixit for Inferno, too.
  • Her sometimes-dubiously-controlled teleportation powers are a great story hook!

  • Irene Adler:
  • I love her relationship with Mystique, their long romance and partnership. I'd also really enjoy a story exploring her powers--what's it like to experience the world with precognition as your main sense?—or her relationship with Rogue.
  • Famously, Chris Claremont intended Raven and Irene to be Kurt's birth parents. Feel free to take this premise and run with it!
  • What went through her mind while she was leaving Raven messages to find after her death?

  • Jennifer Stavros:
  • Jenny was the meanest of the Hellions other than Empath, but she always came off as redeemable to me—I wish she'd ever gotten the chance. And I liked her bold, brassy personality, the way she'd push at people to get a reaction. I'd like to see her choosing the rest of her team over Manuel, coming through for them

  • John Proudstar:
  • I'd love to see a bit more of his brief time on the team, or a world where he lives longer, or something with him and his brother. In the early Classic and Uncanny issues, he had the start of an interesting relationship with Storm—where might that have gone? Or, what if he'd tried to reach out to someone other than Iceman, that first night at the mansion?

  • Kurt Wagner:
  • I love Kurt's kindness and his sense of fun (and, for art purposes, I love his design and that tail!) I really love his relationships with his teammates, and the moments when he helped mentor the New Mutants. For characters he never had much to do with but could've--what if he interacted with Destiny, or with Magneto while he was at the school? I'd be interested in him bouncing off of anyone, really.

  • Madelyne Pryor:
  • I am definitely a Madelyne Pryor Deserved Better person.
  • I'm really interested in fixit--while I loved some of the buildup to Inferno (Maddy was great in Genosha), I really hate what ended up happening to her in that storyline, and I'd love to see her come back from that (maybe with the aid of an old friend from the X-Men?) or take another path to begin with. Alternately, something from earlier in her timeline, before things got bad?
  • I'd be interested in her interacting more with Jean, Rachel, or the Phoenix outside of battle—I love that whole tangle of identities and powers.
  • I really loved her as a member of the X-Men, and I'd love to see a world where she stayed there longer, helping the team despite her lack of powers. I'd also love to see her interacting with her teammates from that era, especially Ororo (I totally ship them).
  • She has a lot in common with Illyana, Rachel, Spiral--I'd love to see her interact with any of them.
  • For art treats, I'm not a fan of her Goblyn Queen outfit; I prefer her yellow sundresses or pilot uniform.

  • Marie-Ange Colbert:
  • Again, I'd love Hellions fixit!
  • How do Marie-Ange's powers work? Can she animate any other images, or is it strictly her cards? It's kind of ambiguous whether she can see/sense the future with her cards, too... Does she collect different decks?
  • Who do you think her New Mutant crush was? I have a weakness for it being Karma (who might just be eager to seek help from a precog to find her missing siblings!), but any of team could be fun and interesting.

  • Nina daCosta:
  • I really love so much that Claremont decided to introduce the mom of one of his characters and made her an awesome middle-aged adventure archaeologist. I'd love her on an adventure, maybe encountering one of the many lost civilizations of the Marvel Universe, with or without other X-Men characters present.

  • Ororo Munroe:
  • I love her as a leader; I love her powers, and I love how she somehow manages to be even more badass without them. I love basically all her relationships on her team, and I'd enjoy seeing her play off of basically anyone.
  • I love when she pushes the people around her to be better, and I love when Callisto turned it back on her after the Massacre.
  • I ship her with basically half of her universe (but especially: Yukio, Callisto, Erik/Magnus, Madelyne, her harem of regal supervillains).

  • Phoenix Force:
  • I find the Phoenix really fascinating--the way it basically fell in love with Jean after convincing itself that it was her, and its more balanced relationship with Rachel. I find its fascination with Cyclops intriguing, and I'd be interested in the Phoenix becoming interested in/obsessed with its hosts' other loved ones. The way the Phoenix has ended up invested in mutants as a whole is intriguing, too. And, although this is only in a couple of issues, I find its relationship with Death-as-an-entity-and-character really interesting as well. I'm not into the "force of destruction" take on this character; I like the Phoenix better as a positive or balanced thing.

  • Rachel Summers:
  • I love Rachel's relationship with the Phoenix! She's my favorite Phoenix host, and I really wish she'd kept it permanently. (I love the idea that Rachel is the daughter of the Phoenix and Jean, or Jean, Scott, and the Phoenix all together.)
  • Rachel's time travel angst made a major, major impression on my id. I love the lengths she was willing to go to to give her past a better future, and I love that she was able to save her own universe too in the end. (Also super into that time she was willing to destroy the universe to thwart the Beyonder. Rachel as a well intentioned extremist a la Magneto, or even a successor to him, really appeals to me.)
  • Speaking of, I do love her relationship wtih Magneto, and would love seeing more if it!
  • I ship her with Kitty and with Illyana, who she's got so much in common with. Also interested in seeing her interact with Madelyne.

  • Raven Darkholme:
  • I love her partnership with Irene, as lovers, parents of a daughter, and as supervillains and would-be world-changers. I love how practical she could be, and how (in the 80s, at least) she had mysterious but basically sympathetic goals. I also really love her powers, and her interactions with Ororo.
  • Raven/Irene prompts: Irene is the only person Raven fully trusts, and even at her darkest Raven has always loved Irene. I'd love basically anything for these two, but for ideas: hashing out a plan together; Raven going to the underworld to resurrect Irene; Irene leaving messages to Raven from the past (angsty if Raven finds them after her death, but she could also send notes for Raven to find during a mission of some kind while she's still alive...).
  • While her relationship with Irene is one of my favorite ships of all time, I also ship her with other people! Especially other women—Ororo and Madelyne, for example.

  • Rita Wayword | Spiral:
  • Like Maddy, Spiral began as a sympathetic, plucky adventurer and was used and warped against her will--I'd like fixit for that, or something of her old self showing through in who she is now. Of course, she's also a great creepy villain to play off against other characters!
  • Her parallels with Maddy do make me ship them—I like the idea of them seeing themselves in each other, having sympathy for each other, trying to pull each other out of the abyss. And there's also room for darkness, creepiness, identity shenanigans with Spiral's different "selves"...

  • Sharon Smith:
  • Sharon's worldview is great (how comfortable she is with her cat self). I'd be really into a story from her POV.
  • I love her contrast to and relationship with Rahne--how she's completely at ease with her cat side and her powers, and while she's less comfortable with the human world, she doesn't angst about it either. Aside from Rahne (and I like them either shippy or as friends), I'd love seeing her interact with her teammates or with Dani.
  • As always, Hellions fixit very welcome!

  • St. John Allerdyce:
  • How could I not love a supervillain who writes torrid gothic romance novels? (And I do wonder which other characters read them!) Anything about his books would be great—does he let his teammates read his rough drafts?
  • I love his respect for Destiny and his loyalty to Mystique (and that brief moment, when they're apparently about to die, when she calls him her friend). How did he end up working for them?
  • I love his habit of using his powers to make shapes in fire, even outside of battle--to play.
  • I love how much he enjoyed playing the hero in Dallas as well as his eventual heroic death--and I do wonder how things might've gone if he'd survived a bit longer. And while I realize that his reluctance to kill in many stories was likely a product of the Comics Code, I enjoy the layer it gave him, of being willing to bluster and threaten but not (usually) go through with his threats.

Six Ages

Fic, Art, Trick, Treat
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Any variant of the "Are Elmal and Yelmalio the same god or not?" mess. I'm fine with characters wondering if other pairs of gods are one and the same (Erissa and Chalana Arroy, Nyalda and Ernalda).

  • Fandom-Specific Fic Likes:
  • Myth! The role of myth in human life; new myths for new times. Gods changing
  • I love the weirdness of how time works, how it's possible to effectively retcon your clan's history under certain circumstances, how cause and effect mostly work but sufficiently mythic things can happen out of order.
  • I love the themes of change and tradition, holding on to who you are but adapting to the circumstances, making friends with old enemies if need be.
  • All the cultural detail, culture clash, eventual interchange...
  • I love how dedicated the game is to the Rider POV, without the Riders necessarily having all the information or being right about all of their opinions.

  • Fandom-Specific Art Likes:
  • Gloranthan runes!
  • The swirls on gods' clothing.
  • The story tent—commemorating the clan's past through tapestry emblems—is a fantastic idea.

  • Notes:
  • I've tried to supply art references for all the characters I requested. A few aren't pictured in the game; I've tried to suggest connections to other characters if you want to try drawing one of them. Same thing for OCs!
  • Most of the art and event text from the game is available on the Six Ages wiki.
  • I've requested this fandom before.

  • General Art Prompts:
  • I'd be delighted to receive a portrait or a full-body drawing of any of these characters.
  • Or an age progression, like the in-game advisor portraits! (That's above and beyond the requirements of the exchange, though.)
  • If you want to illustrate literally any of the advisors' anecdotes about the gods, that would be amazing! (These are listed at on their wiki articles, which I have linked because they also have all the relevant art on them for character design reference purposes.) (Yes, this includes the one or two NSFW ones, even though I'm not otherwise requesting sexually explicit art.)
  • Add a new scene to the story tent! (Any scene from the game, or your own invention.)
  • I also have more specific art prompts by character!

  • Ayvtu:
  • After the endgame, would she consider marrying a Ram, since Orlanthi men occasionally marry into their wives' clans? Or if she married out--does she ever become a circle member in her new clan? How does she impress them with her fire powers?
  • Her friendship with Lyafor and Yatakan is very endearing; I'd love to see more of it.
  • Enemies-to-lovers with the Wheel King? (Liana Kerr, the game's head of QA, suggested this and I was immediately intrigued.)
  • Art prompts: action! fire! defending the sunpath! red/blue contrast! Wearing Mojara's Mask! I also really love that she keeps that red jewel and those jade beads for her whole life—the latter remind me of a necklace Lyafor is wearing in the Fire Children's first scene, and Yatakan's necklaces too; when Lyafor left he gave his necklace to Ayvtu and Yatakan and they each kept some of the beads?
  • Art reference: Ayvtu's page on the wiki contains all her in-game art, including advisor portraits.

  • Cenala:
  • Cenala's liminal position--between human and elf, and between mortal and divine--is fascinating to me. How does she see the world? (I have a thing for alien POV, and Gloranthan elves, walking plants that they are, are deeply alien.) Is she in the process of becoming a goddess? And it's really sweet that she regards the Riders as her nieces and nephews due to their shared descent from Hyalor!
  • What is life like on the Last Tablet Plateau? Does anyone else live there with her? Humans or elves?
  • You can send a clan member to test her divinity—what is that experience like for them?
  • Art reference: Cenala is only depicted in one piece of in-game art, which is on her wiki page. (I love her pinecones! And it makes so much sense that she's an evergreen.) For art--I'd love to see her with plants, or interacting with a Rider child.

  • Daughters of Vingkot:
  • Do they share the same mother? Are they "daughters of Vingkot" in a literal sense, or is it a symbolic title, or are they more distant descendants? Alll three are powerful priestesses—what goddesses do they serve?
  • Redalda's father is never mentioned, but her mother remains in the clan of her birth—did she have a matrilocal marriage, or is she a single mother?
  • What kind of help did they give Redalda in her quest to marry Beren, and how did she convince them to help?
  • Art prompts: magic rituals! Or, one of them with Redalda as a child.
  • Art reference: here (main figures), here (far right), here (far right).

  • Ekarna:
  • How did Ekarna gain the trade rune? Like most of the Riders' gods, she wasn't always what she is now...
  • Ekarna and Gamari are sisters, according to one of your advisors. How does that work? Are there myths about the two of them together? How did Ekarna react to Gamari's transformation from Hippogriff?
  • I'd also love a story/myth about her friendship with Osara.
  • Art prompts: travel; inspecting trade goods. I like her smile.
  • Art reference: The only art of Ekarna from the game is here on her wiki page.

  • Elmal:
  • I love Elmal's role as a guardian, his loyalty, the fact that his myth in this game is a story of protection and endurance rather than seeking glory. Do the endgame rituals become myths of Elmal, a few generations later, and how do the Riders tell them?
  • Art prompts: fighting with shield and spear; wielding fire; riding a fiery horse; interacting with his children or heroes.
  • Art reference: Elmal's wiki page has all of his in-game art. (While he appears in some other continuities, he looks rather different there, and I'd prefer to receive art that takes its cues from this game. He looks great in Six Ages!)

  • Ernalda:
  • I love Ernalda the advisor, the schemer, the power behind the throne.
  • I also adore what we see of her relationship with Orlanth, the way he cheerfully admits that all his best ideas come from her. Their relationship works because he adores her schemes! That's great.
  • I'm intrigued by the implications that Ernalda and Nyalda are different aspects of the same goddess, if you want to pursue that.
  • Art prompts: Art of her with her hero Redalda or her counterpart Nyalda would be great! So would a portrait of her.
  • Art reference: Spoilery wiki page. And if you want to incorporate Nyalda, here.

  • Former Wheel:
  • I love this character, how she's too forthright and independent to fit in among the Wheels, and how she adapts to her new culture but never forgets where she came from. I love her reminiscing about her mother's cooking, and I'm interested in how she sees the differences and similarities between her two cultures.
  • We lose track of her for ten years, in which she adapts to Rider culture. How did that go? Was it hard for her to get used to shamans and spirits, and the worship of gods her people scorn, like Hyalor? Do the Wheels still worship an Osara who is only the goddess of daughters?
  • The Riders and Wheels surely see Gamari pretty differently! What was it like for her to relearn her own religion?
  • If you send her to enact Gamari's ritual, Gamari calling the quester "a true daughter of Hyalor" takes on a different meaning. What might that moment be like for her?
  • Something about her negotiating with the Wheel King (whether or not they come from the same clan) could be fascinating.
  • Something about her seeing her female relatives on a visit to her birth clan?
  • Does she find common ground with Redalda, as fellow outsiders married into the clan?
  • Art prompts: Learning to ride; meeting Gamari in the Gods War; cooking a Wheel dish or learning to make baskets the Rider way.
  • Art reference: The Former Wheel's wiki page has all her art from the game.

  • Original Raven Trickster:
  • I love the tricksters of this game! Their mix of funny and creepy would be very well suited to this exchange. I'm also intrigued by their position in Hyaloring clans--on the edge of things, but still valid candidates for the circle--and by the hints of how different it must be in Yanadling clans.
  • How do the roles of Raven and ordinary shamans differ? Yanade bargained with Raven, but is generally portrayed as a "regular" shaman—who was the first Raven trickster?
  • Art prompt: Portraits are lovely! I love the trickster designs in the game, and I'd love to see what you could come up with if you want to create a new one! Also: the strange antics the Raven tricksters in your clan can get up to, like perching on shrines, making ice slides for the children, showing up with a black bull and claiming it's a relative...
  • Art reference: Raven trickster advisor portraits, for reference.

  • Original Shaman:
  • I'm really intrigued by shamanic magic in this game--it seems like spirits perceive the world so differently from humans, and the way shamans have a foot in both worlds is interesting.
  • So, just what is going on with the Antler Society? Are they secret Chaos worshippers? Or just what they appear to be—a group of shamans following Hyalor's dictate to change for the sake of survival? Or is the truth somewhere in the middle? Just how much do Antler Society practices differ from traditional shamanism, and how much do they have in common?
(Alternately: what does a traditional Hyaloring shaman think of the Antlers?)
  • Art prompts: I think all the shamans we see in-game look really neat; I'd be intrigued by any design you could come up with for an original one! (I also like that in-game shaman portraits, for Riders at least, are gender-neutral.) It would also be fun to see a shaman with their drum, or one making a drum or a ritual costume. Or, a shaman wearing Mojara's Mask!
  • Art reference: While the point of drawing original characters is that you get to make things up, the wiki article on shamans ought to give a good idea of what Hyaloring shamans look like. And if you want to draw one of the shaman advisors, under the idea that they're reasonable OC faceclaims, go ahead and do that too!

  • Osara:
  • I love Osara's story of starting out as a subservient domestic goddess and then coming into her own as a warrior and her father's second in command. And her role as the symbol of changing Hyaloring gender roles is also something I'm interested in! I also love the parallels between her and Elmal—she's the child who's most like him; he stepped up to become the new ruler of the pantheon just as she stepped up to become a warrior and hero.
  • It seems to me that if Elmal had died in the Gods War, Osara could have become the new head of the Rider pantheon. Canonically that didn't happen, but what if it did?
  • I'm entertained by the apparent genre of "Verlaro gets in trouble, Osara gets him out of it" stories the Riders seem to tell, and I'm intrigued by the line about Osara finding her daughters in briars rather than continuing her bloodline.
  • "Zarlen nearly died in the land of frost. Osara warmed his bones on the sunpath, restoring him to life." I'd love to hear your take on this implied myth! More generally, after the rough start we see in Zarlen's myth, Osara is the first god to respect him, and it's implied they become friends and friendly rivals—I'd like to see more of their later relationship.
  • Or, what about that time that Osara rescued Ekarna from the Wheels/Wheel gods? Alternately, a story about the two of them working together with their very different skills.
  • Art prompts: her burning weapons are cool; and what does a goddess readying herself for battle look like? What about her races with Verlaro, or just running/riding for the joy of it?
  • Art reference: Osara's wiki page has her only in-game art.

  • Raven:
  • Raven is my favorite version of the Gloranthan Trickster! I love Raven's tricks, how he makes trouble most of the time but occasionally helps out instead; I also love the incident where she can call out a clan that disregards their own customs and becomes too cozy with slavers, basically acting as their karma. (I also like that Raven's gender is somewhat variable in the game.)
  • I'd love to see a myth of Raven making trouble—or one of Raven's tricks serving as karmic justice for another spirit, god or mortal. Or: Raven is called Elmal's shadow, and the one who does what Elmal and Hyalor, as virtuous gods, cannot even admit to wanting to do... Those relationships are interesting!
  • I'm always interested in god-worshipper relationships; I'm also into Raven's relationship with her shamans.
  • Raven occupies a liminal position between spirit and god—though the Hyalorings are very insistent that Raven is not a god, to the point where their definition of godhood seems almost to have been constructed to keep Raven out. And a trickster can suggest that Raven and the Vingkotling trickster god Eurmal are the same being...
  • Art prompts: Honestly, Raven is so cool-looking it's hard to go wrong! But I would love Raven making trouble; an illustration of that one time Raven stole Yanade's penis; Raven and Elmal, whose shadow he is; Raven and one of her shamans.
  • Art reference: here on the wiki.

  • Redalda:
  • I'd love to see Redalda's perspective on the events of the game--what were the challenges she and her mother and aunts had to overcome? What are her relationships with them like? How does she decide to take the path she does? How did she get Orlanth (or Ernalda, or Vingkot) to okay her marriage plans?
  • Postgame, what is her life like in Beren's clan? Does she ever sit on the circle? I'd be interested in what she and Ayvtu think of each other--Ayvtu's choice to be a single mother is scandalous among Riders but would be totally normal among Rams, maybe they bond over that? Or maybe she and the Former Wheel would be drawn to one another, both having married in from a different culture?
  • Redalda is canonically deified, later on, becoming Elmal's divine wife and the goddess of horse-riding; I am really intrigued about gods of human origin in Glorantha, and I'd love a story exploring that.
  • Art: I love Redalda's tattoos. Maybe later in life she'll get more? (One of the endgame slides does have her and Beren getting matching horse runes on their arms!) I'd love to see her learning to ride, or what her winter clothes look like. And I'd also love seeing her with her goddess.
  • Art reference: Redalda's in-game art is all on her wiki page.

  • Yanade Spirit Father:
  • How did Yanade come to invent/discover Hyaloring shamanism? What were his missteps along the way? The first spirit he bargained with was Raven, but he doesn't seem to have been a raven trickster--what did he think of them when they first emerged? Did he have dealings with the gods other than Hyalor? For art, since there's no in-game depiction of this guy, I'd be interested in any design you could come up with for a very early shaman.
  • Art prompts: Yanade isn't depicted in-game; if you want to draw him, maybe start with in-game shaman art and extrapolate what a very early shaman might have worked with?

Vampire: The Masquerade

Fic, Trick, Treat
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I was very amused, delighted and into the way literally everyone in Beckett's Jyhad Diary seemed into Beckett.
  • Also the old familiarity and camaraderie between my three requested characters + Okulos (who I do also like!) during the road trip section. In general, the sense of characters having a long history together, being friends/lovers/enemies and liking the world better when it has each other in it.

  • Notes:
  • I'm most familiar with the characters from Beckett's Jyhad Diary; I won't be lost if you want to base things off of other appearances of theirs, though.

  • Beckett:
  • Vampire archaeology! Adventures! Road trips! Being hit on by every other vampire, and sometimes flirting back! Seducing Dracula!
  • I ship him with basically everyone he met in Beckett's Jyhad Diary. Vykos (they're such committed nemeses!), Prospero, the Indus Script vampire elder, Okulos, Dracula... Also very specifically with Lucita and Anatole; I OT3 them.

  • Lucita de Aragón:
  • I really enjoyed the whole "Lucita for Vampire Pope! (Proponents not including Lucita)" subplot from BJD. Anything about that, or her being drawn more into Sabbat politics than she wants, would be great. Also her relationship with her sister the Inquisitor—I know that Maria is plotting something, but that hug was so sweet that I found myself hoping she at least means Lucita well...
  • Also the way she and the guys still care for each other and even adventure together despite their falling out.

  • Anatole:
  • I fell for Anatole when he was talking with the table (well, the ghost haunting the table) about Gehenna. Anything along those lines would be great.
  • I also really like how his own goals pull him away from the others and how he comes back to them in time.
