Hi! Thank you for taking a look at my letter.

I'm requesting fanfiction for all fandoms and fanart as well for Six Ages; I'd be happy to receive fanart treats for anything, but haven't really prompted that for my other fandoms.

I may edit/add things to this letter somewhat until assignments go out, but I promise I won't after that.

  • DNWs specific to the Dark Crystal universe:

Likes
    General Likes:
  • Time travel, including: time travel fixit; time travel with the glorious angst of knowing you're overwriting your future to give the past a chance; time travel that results in forming new kinds of relationships with people, like becoming friends with someone who was an enemy in the old timeline.
  • Strict honor codes.
  • Worldbuilding.
  • Alien POV.
  • A sense of wonder.
  • Loyalty.
  • Characters temporarily putting aside their weapons or sources of power as a show of trust.
  • Best enemies, who might kill each other someday but fundamentally respect and trust each other, perhaps more than they do their nominal allies. Rivals and enemies becoming friends, or allies, or lovers, or swearing loyalty to one another.
  • Kneeling. Physical gestures of loyalty or affection.
  • Unexpected mercy. Mercy in general, too.
  • Heroism in desperate straits, characters choosing to be heroic even in a dystopia or doomed world.
  • Magical abilities/superpowers in daily life.

  • Time Travel Likes
  • Time travel fixit.
  • Time travel with the glorious angst of knowing you're overwriting your future to give the past a chance.
  • Time travel that results in forming new kinds of relationships with people, like becoming friends with someone who was an enemy in the old timeline.
  • Crack pairings that suddenly make perfect sense due to time travel!
  • Characters gaining a new perspective--on other people, history, themselves, etc.
  • Characters who were neglected in canon getting to shine, including but not limited to those characters using their knowledge of the future to achieve great things.
  • In action series, characters using their future knowledge to become totally badass (especially when it's a female character doing this).

  • Worldbuilding Likes:
  • Culture! I really love a piece that gets into the POV of the culture it's depicting.
  • Family structure. How do people see their relationships? Which ones do they prioritize?
  • Craft details!
  • Clothing, cloth, fibers, weaving, spinning... Also jewelry. Who wears it? What does it indicate (e.g., gender, status, ...?)
  • Architecture, how homes and public buildings reflect a culture.
  • Food! What do people eat? How do they store food for the times when they can't farm/hunt/forage for more? Do they trade for food?

  • Hurt/Comfort Likes:
  • Leaders slowly earning the trust of traumatized people who have every reason to fear the worst from the world in general and possibly them in particular.
  • A character is disparaged by their own allies, but an unlikely person (such as an honorable enemy or captor) recognizes their excellence and tells them so.
  • I already mentioned unexpected mercy, but it goes here too: I love a buildup of fear and then relief, mercy from someone who (as far as the character knows) has absolutely no reason to be merciful.
  • Characters who have no mercy for themselves, but can have it for others, or whose friends and lovers disagree with their self-judgement.
  • Characters pushing themselves to their limits and beyond, and others being there to catch them when they do.
  • Characters going to great lengths to help one another.
  • The less-hurt person also being in some distress, and struggling with it, and perhaps taking comfort in their own ability to help others.
  • Characters who are convinced that they don't matter and no one cares learning that actually someone does care and does think they matter.
  • Rescues! Rescues where the rescuee is convinced no one's coming, implacable rescuers overcoming terrible obstacles to save their friends/lovers.

  • Art Likes:
  • Pen and ink. Watercolor. Charcoal.
  • Use of light and shadow.
  • Limited color palettes can be very lovely!
  • Flowing lines.
  • Stained glass, decorated pottery, tapestry, art that evokes any of these.
  • Body language.
  • "Royal ease" position, when appropriate (for gods and rulers).
  • Favorite artists: John R. Neill, Ivan Bilibin, Leo & Diane Dillon, Alphonse Mucha, Thomas Canty, James Gurney, Jan Pospíšil, Michelle Lockamy. On the comics side of things, Dave Cockrum for character designs & clothing, John Byrne for body language, Alan Davis, David Aja (his Scarlet Witch covers especially).

Books of the Raksura

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Raksura culture! I love the extended-family nature of the courts, and their etiquette.

  • Raksura physicality—spines, tails, wings, body language that incorporates these things.

  • Everything about the Fell hybrids.

  • The vastness and weirdness of the Three Worlds, all these civilizations and bizarre life forms and the ruins of older and possibly weirder ones—it's like a space opera setting on one planet, I love it.

  • Notes:
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.

  • Consolation & Ruler(s) in Consolation's Flight:
  • I’m really curious about the young rulers in Consolation's flight--she seems to treat them about how the Raksura treat young male warriors, which is a far cry from the status of rulers in other flights! But she’s also invested in their welfare—there’s that improvised prisoner swap; she thought of that to save one of her rulers when Moon was about to kill him.

  • How did they react to Consolation's takeover? Are they younger than her or older? Was sparing them a hard decision for her, or easy?

  • Consolation's Father & Malachite:
  • I'd love it if these two could meet. I can see things getting extremely angsty—she wishes her consort had survived, he wishes his own queen could have rescued him, and seeing this stranger instead hurts—but they also have some really important things in common in their raising of Fell hybrids.
  • Maybe she kills Consolation's mother ahead of schedule, and he has to persuade her to spare Consolation's Fell? (I feel like this scenario ends up in a very strange blended family.)

  • Delin-Evran-lindel & Kethel:
  • I love Kethel's curiosity, and Delin's willingness to make friends with strange and perhaps alarming people. I'd like to see this mentorship continue! Delin must be curious about how this new kind of Fell develops; maybe he'll pay them a visit, worried grandchildren in tow? And maybe he and Kethel can talk further on the possibility of changing the rest of the Fell too, into something like Consolation's flight, better for kethel and dakti?

  • Malachite/Pearl :
  • I love their progression from grumpy in-laws to friends, and I would like to see that relationship continue into sex and/or romance! I love Floret's line about their team-up being both scary and attractive, and the "Are you happy?" "I'm mildly gratified." exchange. I'd be delighted with either postcanon fic or something set during The Harbors of the Sun, when they're working together for the first time and freaking everyone out by doing so. Or perhaps Malachite could drag Pearl along on some errand even stranger than traveling in a kethel's sac (her warrior says she's done weirder things, after all!)?

  • Niran/River:
  • Yes, this is a crack pairing. But: I really enjoyed both of their character development, Niran coming to trust the Raksura and River becoming somewhat less of an asshole, and they both retain some sharp edges that I'd like to bounce off of each other!
  • For a prompt: there's always the tried-and-true "somehow lost together and have to work together to survive". Or a joint exploration mission of some kind between Niran's family and Indigo Cloud?

  • Selis & Stone:
  • This is basically a "I like these two characters, please throw them together" prompt. I really loved Selis in The Cloud Roads and was sad not to see her again; I loved her grumpiness and how she nonetheless decided she wanted to help Moon et al even at risk to herself, and I was glad she got away from her family in the end. And I think that bouncing her off Stone could be interesting!

  • Very different attitudes towards family. But I think that Stone might like her. Maybe she recognizes him as a Raksura during his solo travels?

Chronicles of the Kencyrath

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Jame/Tori as a central part of a story.
  • Harm to bonded creatures (e.g. Addy, Jorin, Drie's fish; also applies to original character creatures). (Other animal harm, e.g. characters hunting for food, is okay.)

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I love how deeply weird (and often creepy!) these books are, especially the first two.

  • I love the Kencyrath with their sharp-edged honor, "living on the edge of the knife" as Immalai once says.

  • The themes of loyalty that run so deep in the series.

  • And contrasting with that, the darkness and danger of blood-binding.

  • Sister-kinship, and the way the women's world holds power in secrets and solace in love.

  • House loyalty, and the way it complicates personal relationships.

  • The Riverland, the Kencyrath's home that they don't understand in the slightest, with its walking trees and biting rocks and its gods. I'd love basically anything about the characters exploring their world.

  • Notes:
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.

  • Aerulan of Knorth/Brenwyr of Brandan & Brant of Brandan:
  • I love Aerulan and Brenwyr's tragic (but not entirely doomed, due to ghosts) romance, and Brant's steadfast loyalty to his sister.

  • How did they make their arrangement?

  • A time that all of them were happy together?

  • Or, a canon divergence AU where Aerulan makes it to Falkirr and lives? Either a pure fixit where the massacre never happens, or maybe a world where Aerulan is the only survivor (or only public survivor) and Brenwyr has to support her in her grief.

  • Jamethiel Priest's-Bane/Lyra Lack-Wit & Lyra Lack-Wit/Bane:
  • Sister-kinship is great! I love Lyra's crush on Jame. Sister-friends also sometimes marry one another's brothers to spend more time together (I get the impression that the unusual thing about the Aerulan/Brenwyr + Brant situation was that it was a permanent marriage, and the size of the price, not the basic arrangement). Of Jame's male kin, Tori is very happy to be divorced, Kindrie would frankly get eaten alive... and then there's Bane. (The rest are in Perimal Darkling and are too kicked out of the Kencyrath to count.)

  • Maybe Lyra likes getting away from the Caineron? Maybe the Caineron has prepared her for Bane. Maybe she considers a temporary marriage to Bane qualification for becoming Caineron matriarch! (It probably wouldn’t be usually, but the existing Matriarchs really dislike Kallystine.)

  • Marriage to an undead demon made of insects does sound like something that the Kenycrath would allow on a technicality. (Or you can do an AU where he’s more normally alive if you prefer.)

  • If you want to include Jame/Bane tension that's absolutely fine, though by no means required.

  • Jamethiel Priest's-Bane/Randiroc of Randir:
  • This has been one of my crackships for ages, and then in one of the recent books Jame shocked me by mentioning her attraction to him in the narration. What, I was right? Ish?

  • This is another pair for which I'd be interested in marriage-of-convenience/necessity. Randiroc is an excellent candidate for Jame's presumably-temporary husband: he's one of very few in the Kencyrath who could possibly survive the experience! (Ditto with her and his assassins.) He could play with her hair and they could practice the Senethar together. And perhaps defeat Rawneth together...

  • They're the two of the Kencyrath who seem most comfortable with Rathillien, the Four, the border tribes.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Original Skeksis, urRu/Mystic, or UrSkek characters. (Original characters of any other species are fine, as are “there’s nothing to work off of but the name, but the existence of an UrSkek/Mystic/Skeksis by this name is canon/supplementary canon” characters.)

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I love how beautiful and intricate the world of Thra is.

  • The separation of the UrSkeks into the urRu/Mystics and the Skeksis fascinates me—I wonder how relationships from before the split (with Aughra and with each other) continued afterwards, or didn't, and what characteristics of the original appear in both of the split selves, and which in only one.
  • I’m intrigued by Gelfling culture! (And I like that it’s a matriarchy.)

  • Notes:
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.
  • If you want to incorporate ideas/information/characters/etc from the novels or comics, that’s fine! If you aren’t familiar with them or disliked them and want to ignore them in your writing, that is also fine.

  • Arathim Ascendency & Brea & Seladon & Tavra:
  • The three sisters have this thorny but vital relationship with each other, and I’m intrigued by the ways that could interact with the strangeness of the Arathim, considering Tavra’s eventual relationship to them.
  • How do Brea and Seladon (the All-Maudra, remember!) manage dealing with the Arathim, after Tavra’s death? And do the Arathim’s own memories of her influence their interactions with her sisters? Alternately—does Tavra survive within the Ascendency’s hive mind?
  • Or, canon divergence where Tavra lives longer, still bound to the Arathim—how does that affect her relationship with her sisters, and theirs with the (rest of) the Ascendency

  • Aughra & skekTek the Scientist:
  • They clearly have a history together, both when he was his urSkek self and after the Great Division. Tell me about it!
  • They also have a lot of interests in common. I’d like to see them building the orrery, studying the Crystal….

  • How did he use her knowledge for evil? (I almost said "did he..." but honestly, we know the answer to that one.)

  • Aughra & urVa the Archer:
  • I love the friendship these two have (and would be equally up for a past or present romance!), how grumpy she is and how serene he is, how urVa is willing to call Aughra out on her failures and how they're able to work with each other, and the angst of the choices they have to make in the end.
  • How did they get along in the early days after the Great Division? Did the Archer come to visit her, and did she recognize his former UrSkek self in him?

  • Aughra/Any UrSkek & That UrSkek's Mystic & Skeksis Halves:
  • I love Aughra's interactions with the Skeksis and urRu, and I'm fascinated by the idea of her having once had a thing with an UrSkek (your choice of which one!) and that relationship then informing her relationships with her former lover's fractured selves.
  • Did Aughra once hope that she could persuade the Skeksis to re-merge voluntarily?

  • What must it be like to care for someone and all of a sudden they're two people who hate each other (or one of them hates the other, anyway)?

  • skekGra the Heretic/urGoh the Wanderer:
  • These two! I just love their whole relationship.
  • What was their vision like? How did they come to meet? Did they try to travel together, and if so why didn't that work out in the long term? How did they build Lore?

  • Was puppetry an interest of their joint UrSkek self, or something they discovered together post-separation?

  • I would also be interested in them building and furnishing their lovely, cozy house.(Is that the definition of curtianfic? ... Arguably. But with hallucinogenic houseplants.)

The Heartstrikers - Rachel Aaron

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Postapocalyptic urban fantasy! I love the setting of this series so much.

  • I love the complicated messy family aspects too.

  • I love that Julius becomes more of a pacifist as things go on, not less, and that that's exactly what his world and his species need--but it will never be easy, either.

  • Notes:
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.
  • In the case of canon pairings that conflict with requested pairings (this time that’s Svena/Ian) I do actually like the canon pairing even though I’m not requesting it. So I’d prefer a poly situation in which the two relationships coexist even though only one is in the foreground, or setting it before the canon relationship begins, instead of killing off Ian or breaking them up.

  • Amelia the Planeswalker & Brohomir Heartstriker :
  • When Amelia was a young dragon, and presumably very much weakened by the magic drought, she took her baby brother and ran before their mom could eat him. How did she make that choice? What on earth did her idea of childrearing look like? How did she react to finding out he was the next seer, and how did their relationship go from foster-mother-and-child to the co-conspirators we see as adults?

  • Amelia the Planeswalker/Svena the White Witch:
  • I love their rivalry, the way they respect each other (and no one else), and the way they consider themselves enemies but also hang out and talk shop. I love that Svena both swears revenge when Amelia dies, and demands (successfully!) a life debt from her when she comes back. I love that Amelia tricked Svena into helping her become a god, and Svena still considers their rivalry ongoing.
  • I’d love an interlude from their past—what were the early days of their relationship like, when Amelia was a young upstart and Svena an established power?
  • Just how does one go about a magical rivalry with one's god?

  • Brohomir Heartstriker & The Black Reach:
  • These two are friends even though they’ve both known, for Bob’s whole life, that eventually the Black Reach would kill him. How did they come to be friends?
  • I would love to see these two on a trip together! The Black Reach likes to travel, and Bob… well, honestly he seems like he’d be interesting to travel with and drive any companion crazy, in equal measure.

  • Brohomir Heartstriker/The Final Future:
  • This is not something I expected to ship going into the last book, but god damn do I ship it. I love that Bob calls on an eldritch abomination and the form of alliance he chooses is basically marriage; I love his proposal, promising that she’ll be entertained and never lonely, and I love her finding a way to twist her own rules for his sake in the end.
  • The way he sees her—beautiful because he can’t see her at all, because her void-of-fate is soothing to have in his mind, his anchor to sanity—is really fascinating to me.
  • What does the relationship look like from her point of view? How did she get used to the world, and what has she thought of his plots?

  • Chelsie Heartstriker & Julius Heartstriker:
  • I love the relationship these two develop. He believes in her when no one else does; she comes to believe in him right back. He holds her back from murder, and she does the same for him.
  • I am very into Chelsie being a terrifying badass (and relearning how to be happy again) and into Julius the Peacemaker being an earnest avowed pacifist who makes that work among a species of backstabbers.
  • It isn’t clear what happens to Bethesda’s seat in the event of her death; it might just go to Chelsie. And she’s in favor of this form of government, even though she doesn’t much like most of her relatives! So she and Julius might well end up on the council together, someday…

  • Dragon Sees the Beginning & Dragon Sees Eternity:
  • The guardian of the past and the guardian of the future—they’ve interacted only through those the Black Reach sends to visit his brother for eons. Does Dragon Sees the Beginning read the pasts he devours to see what his brother has been up to?
  • Do they miss each other? Would Dragon Sees the Beginning like to come to the human plane, and would his brother want that to happen?
  • Were they created before or after the loss of the dragons’ home plane? There’s conflicting information…

  • Ghost & Marci Novalli:
  • I love that as soon as Marci gets the upper hand with Ghost she immediately commits to working for his goals as well as her own. I love that she looks at Ghost's terrifying face and isn't afraid of him
  •  I love the partnership Ghost and Marci end up having, and I love that for all he can be scary and creepy, he's basically got a noble goal in protecting and honoring the dead. I'd love to see his relationship with Marci going forward--maybe she finds out about his ancient iteration, which is implied to be his worst possible self?
  • How do the two of them deal with the development of the Merlin Council, or of Ghost’s priesthood?
  • The times when she treats him as her cat are also really cute.

Marvel Comics

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • The Phoenix Force being portrayed as an intrinsically evil being.
  • Trevor Fitzroy (exception: he can appear in a story that averts the Hellions' canonical deaths.
  • Selene, the Shadow King, or Mojo playing a large role (exception: if I'm requesting Spiral, Mojo is okay then).
  • Any romantic pairings involving Empath.
  • Ororo/T'Challa--please don't even mention the marriage, even to say they're divorced.
  • Mutant!Moira.

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them? My id.
  • Mutant powers! I love exploration of mutant powers, how they work, how people use them in daily life, clever ways to use them in fights.
  • I love how totally bonkers X-Men comics can be. Space opera adventures one day, canon sword & sorcery AU the next? Of course!
  • Redemption arcs!
  • I love how dramatic so many of these characters are. Magneto, Storm, Exodus, lots of others—they live their lives turned up to eleven and I adore that. (I also love the idea of them bonding over how this is another person who understands the worth of drama!)
  • I have a thing for power—well, multiple things for power. I love superpowers themselves, the way they might change how their wielder sees the world. I love powerful women.
  • I'm a huge fan of the whole Jean/Phoenix/Rachel/Maddy tangle of identity and power and legacy.
  • I love how the Hellions are presented less as supervillains (even supervillains in training) than as a rival sports team to the New Mutants... some of whom take the rivalry far more seriously than others. I also really enjoyed the friendships and flirtations among the teams, aside from Amara's thing with Empath.
  • I adore the octopus shirt and would be delighted to see it in fic/art.
  • Ditto Erik the Red (see icon!)
    Notes:
  • I've requested both X-Men and New Mutants in exchanges before.
  • I'm most familiar with (and fond of!) the Claremont runs of X-Men and New Mutants from the 80s, but I'm broadly familiar with things after that, so if you choose to set your story in a different era I won't be too lost.

  • Amara Aquila/Haroun ibn Sallah al-Rashid:
  • I really enjoyed the flirtation that these two had for a while! I liked their boldness about it, the way it overlapped with Haroun's mostly-friendly rivalry with Sam, Amara's "take me as I am" line ("as she was" being currently made of magma...) And I also liked Haroun, especially the moment when he goes to the White Queen and tells her he's worried about the New Mutants after the Beyonder. These two seemed to share a sense of honor, as well as commitment to the rivalry and willing to have fun together; I would've liked to see more of them together!
  • More generally—I really enjoyed the period of time where the Hellions and New Mutants were basically rival high school sports teams, with varying degrees of commitment to said rivalry (Haroun being probably one of the most committed, and Amara reasonably into it as well)—but still willing to attend parties together, laugh, chat, team up sometimes.

  • Bennet du Paris/Erik Magnus Lehnsherr:
  • Exodus's intense loyalty to Lord Magneto is really shippy! He has spent almost his entire supervillain career either obsessively serving Magneto or awkwardly trying to fill a Magneto-shaped hole in the world. And there was that one point where he was driven to tears by seeing "Magneto" (actually Joseph, shh) kiss a woman in front of him. (I tend to read this relationship as an unrequited crush on Exodus's part, but if you want to write Mags reciprocating I'd be fascinated by that too.)
  • So, how did Exodus wake up into the modern world, and how did Magneto win his loyalty?
  • ... I kind of wonder if half the reason Magneto kept the cult around (aside from the power trip, of course) was that it gave Exodus something to do.
  • Canon divergence where a befuddled Exodus follows Magneto on one of his redemption/anti-hero attempts? Or when Exodus's "mutants and humans should live in peace" period coincides with the same?
  • I love Magneto as a noble anti-hero/anti-villain, loving headmaster, and crabby master of a space station.
  • I enjoy Exodus's entire man-out-of-time angle (the medieval crusader who's now latched onto a new holy war), his great drama, his intensity, his ridiculous outfit, his poor decisions.

  • Bennet du Paris/Scott Summers:
  • So, Scott is basically telepath catnip, and Exodus is the one supervillainous telepath who isn't obsessed with him. Clearly, this needs to change!
  • I like the parallels between Exodus as the heir to Magneto and Cyclops as the heir to Xavier—both shaped (and fucked up) by their mentors, and both eventually going their own way while still believing in the cause...
  • Perhaps, rather than trying to kill Cyclops for mutant unity, Exodus could try resurrecting him for the same reason?
  • I would like Cyclops dealing with the full focus of Exodus's obsessive loyalty. He tries so hard to be the level-headed one, and Exodus could really use that!

  • Illyana Rasputin & Madelyne Pryor:
  • ... Yes, I want Inferno fixit. Desperately.
  • Maybe Illyana notices that one of her minions is going behind her back with offers of power with terrible prices attached, and decides to intervene?
  • Or: Maddy doesn't die in Inferno, but retreats to Limbo along with the teenage version of Illyana. And then the two of them, having figured their lives were over, find that that's not the case, and have to figure out what to do next...
  • These two have a lot in common—so much rage, and such good reasons for it...

  • Jean Grey & Madelyne Pryor & Phoenix Force & Rachel Summers:
  • Phoenix legacy! I love this whole tangle of identity issues, love, hate, and cosmic power.
  • I would really like Maddy to have not-in-a-battle conversations with the others—but especially Rachel, who lives with her in Jean's shadow but has such a different opinion of it, and the Phoenix, whose power she rejected as her first action. (Maybe she eventually reconsiders that choice?) And Jean and Rachel's different relationships to the Phoenix are fascinating...
  • For this group, I'd totally be up for a fantasy Au where the Phoenix is a goddess who falls in love with a mortal, and that mortal's daughter (perhaps by the goddess?) and sister or magic-equivalent-of-a-clone get entangled with the goddess in their turn...

  • Jean Grey/Phoenix Force:
  • The Phoenix is obsessed with Jean in a way that can really come off as romantic! I am very into the scenario of a god falling for a mortal and then modeling itself on her (to the point where Jean is the face the Phoenix wears to most mortals).
  • I'm into the identity stuff and the godlike power the Phoenix gives Jean, as well as the possibility that Rachel is their kid together (with or without Scott's involvement).
  • I would also be really happy with a fantasy AU here where the Phoenix is literally a goddess falling in love with her avatar

  • Madelyne Pryor/Ororo Munroe:
  • Ororo cares deeply about Madelyne; she believes Madelyne's choices matter, even at the last. And Maddy was a member of her team—she played a support role, but she was still one of the X-Men in the Outback era.
  • I also really am not a fan of the whole Goblyn Queen thing; I'd like fixit for that happening, or Ororo challenging Maddy to be a hero again afterwards.

  • Madelyne Pryor/Spiral:
  • They've both been warped and twisted by forces outside (or mostly outside) their control. This could be dark and twisted and full of identity shenanigans! (As always, I am also open to fixit.)
  • Dark creepy time travel and manipulation, Spiral trying to corrupt Maddy while Rita tries to save her? Or maybe it's more complicated than that...
  • Maddy might just have compassion for what Spiral's been through; she understands it better than most people could, after all...

  • Marie-Ange Colbert/Xi'an Coy Manh:
  • For these two I'd like something sweet, maybe with a side of fixit.
  • That illusion Dani conjured of Ange-Marie's true love looked more like Shan than like any of the boys on the team. What if she was the one Shan had her crush on? If she approaches Xi'an at the dance, maybe she impulsively offers to read the cards for her future, or otherwise offers her help with her problems?
  • Xi'an is desperate to find her missing siblings—maybe she seeks out Tarot's help, because as a precog she might just be able to point her towards them?
  • Or, they meet/flirt/get together earlier and their troubles come from just having a girlfriend on the rival team?

  • Phoenix Force & Rachel Summers:
  • Rachel is my favorite Phoenix host (arguably the best one!) and also (depending on what you take as canon) its child, and the Phoenix tries so hard to help Rachel even though it's hindered bu not fully understanding humans. Rachel reaches out to the Phoenix without hesitation—unlike Jean that first time, she knows exactly what she's doing, and she accepts this cosmic force into herself. The Phoenix also has some guilt for the way things went over with Jean, and how it lost control in her place...
  • For these two, I'd also be into a fantasy AU, the Phoenix as the goddess fascinated with Rachel and her family ,who has brought them greatness and ruin, and knows this, but can't stay away when Rachel calls out to her.

Six Ages: Ride Like the Wind

Media: Fanart, Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Any variant of the "Are Elmal and Yelmalio the same god or not?" mess.

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I love how weird the world of Glorantha is, and how deeply built, and how everything about it comes back to mythology in the end. In this game, the myths are particularly close to the surface...
  • The weirdness of time, the way that the gods exist outside of time and mortals can retcon their own history under the right circumstances.
  • The need to change to survive—including making peace with and even merging with former enemies.
  • All the cultural detail, culture clash, eventual interchange...

  • Fandom-Specific Art Likes:
  • Gloranthan runes!
  • The swirls on gods' clothing.
  • The story tent—commemorating the clan's past through tapestry emblems—is a fantastic idea.

  • Notes:
  • I've requested this fandom before.
  • I can, ah, personally vouch for the quality of the wiki for canon review and especially art review. (I've provided links to art when there's just one or two pictures of a character, and to their wiki pages if they have several.)

  • General Art Prompts
  • A new section of the story tent (art reference) detailing some event in the lives of the heroes?

  • Ayvtu & Lyafor & Yatakan:
  • I love the friendship that these three have—they're super close as kids, and in Ayvtu and Yatakan's cases that lasts their whole lives. (I love the two of them talking to each other when they're on the council.)
  • Examples of the trouble they got into as fire-wielding kids?
  • Or, some minor adventure they had together!
  • Does Lyafor think of the others while he's away?
  • Did Ayvtu and Yatakan speak to Lyafor when he came back to the clan?
  • How are they remembered? Yatakan says Ayvtu is like a sister to him, even though they come from different families; do later generations of the clan remember the fire heroes as literal siblings?
  • Art prompts: playing with fire; those green (jade?) beads they all wear. Maybe Lyafor left his necklace to his friends, who restrung it so that they could both keep something of him with them?
  • Art reference: Their wiki pages have all of their in-game art: Ayvtu, Lyafor, Yatakan.

  • Ayvtu & Redalda:
  • What might they think of each other, especially post-game when Redalda has married into the player clan? Both are powerful wielders of divine magic, and devout priestesses. What does "harmonizing worship" of their pantheons look like?
  • Do the Ram People already have a custom of matrilocal marriage? Maybe Redalda offers to help arrange Ayvtu a marriage with a Ram man who'd be willing to join her family.
  • Art references: Ayvtu, Redalda.
  • Art prompts: similar color scheme (red hair, wear blue). Ayvtu getting tattoos, or Redalda learning to ride with her help. Fighting/wielding magic side by side.

  • Beren the Tall & Yatakan:
  • I love Yatakan's intense loyalty to his friends, and his mentorship and protectiveness of Beren.
  • Art prompts: Again, fighting side by side, or maybe Yatakan helping Beren with his sword grip or stance?
  • Art references: Beren, Yatakan

  • Daughters of Vingkot & Redalda:
  • What kind of relationship does Redalda have with her mother and aunts? They're all priestesses, and none is a chieftain; what goddesses (or gods) are they priestesses of? Are there ever power conflicts with the chief of their clan? Are they somehow literally the daughters of Vingkot (born to him or adopted?), or simply descended from him, or is something else going on? (And at that: Redalda's father is never mentioned in game. Maybe her mother is unmarried—and perhaps she and her clan were hoping that Redalda too would stay with the clan her whole life?)
  • What did "moving secret mountains" entail? What deeds did Redalda and her mother and aunts have to perform to make the marriage possible?
  • What did Redalda's magical education look like?
  • The Daughters of Vingkot are always referred to as a unit and shown together, but if you want to write/draw about Redalda interacting with her mom or one of her aunts and not focus on the other two, that's also fine!
  • Art prompts: magical ceremonies, Redalda learning from her mother or aunts, maybe Redalda getting her tattoos with their input/help?
  • Art reference: all Redalda's art is on her wiki page. The Daughters of Vinkgot are in three illustrations: first (main figures), second (far right), third (far right).

  • Ekarna & Osara:
  • I love Rider myths! These two goddesses both took on new roles as the people who worshipped them became Riders, and they're described as friends—maybe there are stories of the two of them using their very different skills to help each other, or about the two of them coming into their own together?
  • There's a reference to a myth in which Ekarna is captured by the Wheel People, and Osara rescues her. I'd love to see your take on it!
  • Art reference: Osara (mounted), Ekarna.

  • Former Wheel & Redalda:
  • They're both outsiders from a different culture who married into the same clan. Perhaps they'd be drawn together as a result?
Redalda loves horses (and will eventually be deified as a horse-riding goddess); the Former Wheel is a priestess of the horse goddess Gamari; perhaps this is something they could bond over.
  • Should Redalda ever end up on the clan circle, I'd be interested in their discussions!
  • Art prompts: teaching Redalda to ride, or doing some kind of craft together.
  • Art reference: Redalda, the Former Wheel.

  • Osara & Zarlen:
  • Early on, Osara wants nothing to do with her half-brother—but she's the first of the gods to accept Zarlen when he returns from his first wandering. And the way the clan circle talks about them implies that they eventually become friends and friendly rivals...
  • "Zarlen nearly died in the land of frost. Osara warmed his bones on the sunpath, restoring him to life." I'm fascinated by this two-sentence myth and would love either a story based around it or an illustration.
  • Art prompts: The two of them racing (an omen you can get!), that myth. Or-- what do gods' honor belts look like?
  • Art reference: Osara (mounted), Zarlen, Zarlen (right, mounted)

Star Trek - Various Authors

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • The Rihannsu becoming or evolving into the Romulans of TNG.

  • Notes:
  • I’ve requested Rihannsu several times before, as well as other Trek novels fandoms.
  • This fandom is a catchall, with characters from several different books by several different authors:
    • Adajia of Orion, Cymris Darthanian, Dylan Arios, Iriane, Karetha, Khethi, Nemo, Phil Cooper, Raksha, Sharnas, Thaddeus, and Varos all come from Crossroad by Barbara Hambly.
    • Ael t’Rlaillieu, S’task, and the version of Surak who interacts with S’task all come from the Rihannsu novels by Diane Duane and Peter Morwood.
    • Jenniver Aristeides, Snnanagfashtalli, and Captain Hunter come from The Entropy Effect by Vonda McIntyre.
    • T’Pel (the one who’s Surak’s cousin and not married to Tuvok) comes from Memory Prime by Gar and Judith Reeves-Stevens.
    • The Captain’s Table concept comes from the sub-series of the same name. (Please feel free to take captains from any source you like, though, Trek or otherwise—as long as they could be described as the captain of a ship the can appear there, and that’s really half the fun!)

  • Adajia of Orion & Dylan Arios & Nemo & Phil Cooper & Raksha & Sharnas T'Gai Khir & Thaddeus:
  • How did Raksha join the crew? We know how the guys and Nemo ended up there, and sort of how Adajia ended up in the group, but not how Raksha did.
  • Arios has tremendous power, and there’s a certain irony in how devotedly loyal this bunch of rebels is to their ex-Consilium leader—but at the same time, he does seem like a good guy. How did he win their trust?
  • Relatedly: if the rebellion ever wins, how are they going to change things? What plans do these people and their Shadow Fleet have to make their galaxy better?
  • (It is fine if you want to write about Iriane with this bunch, or focus on a subset of the characters, etc. It’s a big crew and it may not be possible to give them all equal attention! Just consider this a “Nautilus crew” request.)

  • Dylan Arios/Raksha:
  • I like the relationship between these two—Raksha as Arios’s second in command and advisor. (And considering how much power he has over the crew, it seems relevant that the person he listens to the most isn’t wired.)
  • Again—how did Raksha join the rebels?

  • Future Timeline Rebels & Karetha & Khethi & Varos:
  • At the end of the book Khethi is about to take Karetha and Varos to Nemo, and thus to the rebels. How does that go? They could be a tremendous help; the rebels might also have complicated feelings about accepting them (can we trust these people? Do we want to, after what they helped McKennon do in the past?) I’d like to think that those struggles are things they can get through, that they’ll work together for a common cause, even become friends…

  • Karetha & Khethi & Nemo & Sharnas:
  • Khethi is so excited to meet Nemo! It seems really evident that those two yagghorths are friends now and they’ll want to keep hanging out, and that their empaths will be pulled together by that. What might they think of each other?

  • Ael i-Mhiessan t'Rllaillieu/Nyota Uhura:
  • My beloved crackship!
  • Ael canonically thinks Uhura is gorgeous, and it's the only time she ever remarks on anyone's appearance!

  • Bonding over language, the importance of an accurate translation; mnhei'sahe, the word that can never be translated entirely; perhaps they start with a matter of tactics and move on to poetry and matters of the heart?

  • If Ael had never become empress but remained in exile instead, perhaps Uhura might join her crew for a mission of importance to both of them?

  • In some of the novels, Uhura becomes an ambassador; perhaps she's the ambassador to Ael's empire? Alternately: there are books in which Admiral Uhura is the head of Starfleet Intelligence. In that role, she could easily end up working with either Ael the empress or Ael the exile...

  • Roleswap: Uhura's government is up to something (perhaps Section 31 rears its ugly head) and she works with Ael to save the Federation from itself, just as the crew of the Enterprise once helped Ael betray her Empire for its own good?

  • Or, you could go for the tropey angle: the Empress of the Rihannsu makes a diplomatic marriage with a prominent Federation citizen....
  • (Optional extra: I’m really fond of the idea of an Uhura/Ael/Kirk/Spock sedoretu.)

  • S'task & Surak:
  • Their first meeting is great ("You forgot about windows"). I'd love an anecdote along those lines about their time together, something S'task learned from Surak.

  • I am a sucker for non-tragic canon divergence AUs.
  • The parallels between them—the creator of modern Vulcan and the first of hte Rihannsu…
  • They’re very much in each other’s thoughts, even long after they part.

  • I love their last poetic exchange. If you feel up to writing Vulcan poetry...

  • T'Pel (Memory Prime) & S'task:
  • Given S’task’s complicated relationship with Surak, I imagine he had feelings about Surak’s assassin cousin coming along on the Journey!
  • In a way, T’Pel represents the darkness that the Declared both fought to keep and were kind of in denial about—the violence that Vulcan rejected (in part because of T’Pel!) and that they took and then had to deal with, forever.

  • Jenniver Aristeides/Snnanagfashtalli:
  • These two! I love how protective Fashtall is. I love that Jenniver is the only one to get Fashtall's sense of humor (and the only one to call her Fashtall instead of her other nickname Snarl). I love that Fashtall is the one other person who can open Jenniver's locks, and that she encourages Jenniver to transfer out of Security (with her) and to a job that she'll be happier in.

  • Jenniver doesn't know if what she feels for Fashtall is gratitude or love. (My heart.) I would like her to figure out that it is love and moreover Fashtall feels the same way.

  • For plots: day-in-the-life with normal Enterprise problems? An away mission together that gets more complicated than expected? One nursing the other through an injury or illness, or protecting her against an unjust attack? (Their old boss was terrible, apparently.)

  • Ael i-Mhiessan t'Rllaillieu & Captain's Table Patrons (ST - Various),
Captain's Table Patrons & Dylan Arios (ST - Various),
Captain's Table Patrons & Hunter (ST - Various),
Captain's Table Patrons & Varos (ST - Various):
  • I’m grouping these together because they’re all pretty similar in terms of what I want: a captain finding his or her way to the Captain’s Table and telling a story there! (With interruptions, digressions, and/or conversation with the other patrons. That part’s always so much fun.) I’m very fond of all four of these captains and think they all have lots of stories in them, and I’d also love to see their reactions to the bar outside of time and space. (Also—since it looks different to everyone who visits—what would it look like to each of these characters?)

Vampire: The Masquerade

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • I was very amused, delighted and into the way literally everyone in Beckett's Jyhad Diary seemed into Beckett.

  • The sense of characters having a long history together, being friends/lovers/enemies and liking the world better when it has each other in it.

  • Notes:
  • I’m mostly familiar with the characters through Beckett’s Jyhad Diary, but it is absolutely fine if you want to write based on some other source/period/etc.

  • Anatole/Beckett/Lucita de Aragón:
  • I love the sense of long connection with these three, that they’ve been incredibly close and drifted apart and keep coming back to each other.
  • Currently Lucita is a candidate for Vampire Pope (okay, only pope of the Extra Evil And Proud Of It vampires, whatever) and not onboard. Beckett is determinedly Autarkis. Anatole is doing his own thing. But either proponents of opponents of Lucita’s candidacy could pull the guys into Sabbat schemes…

  • Beckett/Dracula :
  • I was inordinately amused by the entire BECKETT, BRIDE OF DRACULA interlude. That entire situation and Beckett’s attitude towards it!
  • So, how did that seduction attempt go?

  • Beckett/Sascha Vykos:
  • I love best enemies! In this case there's a lot of genuine hate (and Vykos is utterly terrifying, and Beckett can be too when he wants) but there's also what Prospero says—Vykos is Beckett's shadow, and there's a way in which they need each other.
  • Their reluctant teamup in BJD was hilarious and delightful—so much snark! Vykos having to play good cop and being utterly boggled about that! A kiss to keep their identities secret!
  • Totally up for hatesex with these two.

Warhammer 40.000

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Okay. This fandom is really far from my usual wheelhouse. And while I am a total sap and would be into fluffier AUs and canon divergence (… “fluffier” meaning “Murphy’s Law is not an effective law of physics”), I’m also into different things here. This is a fandom where I’m in it for silliness and over the top emotions and SPECTACULAR ANGST and subtext and making it text. I am not particularly in this fandom to take things seriously, except in the sense that Angron’s everything really does break my heart.

  • Angron/Khârn/Lotara Sarrin:
  • Angst, tragedy, deeply fucked-up loyalty, extreme badassery; what’s not to love? Khârn is deeply dysfunctionally in loyalty-love with Angron; Angron hates him less than the rest of the legion, which is something; Lotara is the one human they both respect. They’re great. And terrible, and doomed—the universe being what it is…
  • Totally up for a more cheerful canon divergence for these three.

  • Ahzek Ahriman/Magnus the Red :
  • Loyalty! Angst! Worship such that Ahriman actually thinks the nipple horns look cool! Offscreen reconciliation (how exactly did that go?) Or early days, getting to know each other, encouraging unwise armor-fashion decisions…

  • Clone Fulgrim & Roboute Guilliman:
  • Guilliman would very much like the support of a loyalist brother! A very young clone of Fulgrim with abandonment issues was perhaps not quite what he had in mind. Meanwhile, this Fulgrim is eager to right all wrongs and fix everything and be the greatest help possible… And his idea of what the Imperium “ought” to be like is pretty similar to Guilliman’s own.

  • Jaghatai Khan/Magnus the Red:
  • Best friends! Their friendship (now with kissing/sex because /) is just really great.
  • Jaghatai is one of the more sensible members of the family (especially re: psyker powers!); Magnus has wisdom for a dump stat; Magnus should really listen to Jaghatai more often…
  • Jaghatai managing to restore Magnus, as he wanted to?

  • Magnus the Red/Perturabo:
  • Doing archaeology together before everything goes bad!
  • Maybe Magnus could ask Perturabo to design a building for him? He’s invested in his homeworld and that includes public works!

  • Magnus the Red/Sanguinius:
  • Feathers! (Okay Magnus does not have feathers while Sanguinius is alive BUT STILL. Feathers!)
  • Psyker lessons! H/c related to seeing the horrible no-good future!

Yona of the Dawn

Media: Fanfiction
    Fandom-Specific DNWs:
  • Yona/Hak (except as part of Yona/Hak/Jae-ha or Yona/Hak/Soo-won)

  • Fandom-Specific Likes:
  • Loyalty! I love loyalty, and the tension between the dragons' inbuilt loyalty to Yona and their genuine feelings for her (including more loyalty!) is great.
  • I also love Yona's journey from sheltered princess to competent and inspiring leader and fighter.

  • Notes:
  • DISCLAIMER: I screwed up my signup a bit and requested Yona/Hak/Jae-ha when I meant Yona/Jae-ha. If this affects you I'm so so so sorry about it! (I have intentionally requested Yona/Hak/Jae-ha in the past and I do still like it, just hadn't meant to do so this time. I even deleted the clarification to my Yona/Hak DNW to avoid confusion, since I wasn't meaning to ask for either of those OT3s... and probably ended up causing it instead.) I'll just prompt both ships, okay? I would be very happy to receive either one, for the record!
  • I’ve requested this fandom before.
  • adore the power Yona has over the dragons, the way that their dragon's blood makes them basically swoon when they first meet her, the way they're never going to be able to completely untangle their own feelings from that magically ingrained love and loyalty.

  • Four Dragon Warriors/Yona:
  • Dragon harem! Please. (I've always kind of wished this series was more harem-y than it actually is...) Feel free to make that literal. (AU okay for this one.) Or set it after she's Queen, with them as her official bodyguards?
  • I really like the different ways the dragons relate to Yona: Kija being totally okay with the inborn loyalty and Jae-ha very much not, Shin-ah just glomming onto her and Zeno waiting and testing her before he reveals himself.

  • Jae-Ha/Yona:
  • I’m honestly super into the power differential: he’s spent his life running from her, when he meets her he just about keels over, and he’s never sure where his real feelings for her end and the dragon’s loyalty begins.
  • I love the tension there between Jae-ha's love for Yona (not all of which is his own!) and his fear of Hiryuu, and then there's his issues with chains and the figurative chain to his role...

  • I also like the way Jae-ha hides genuine feelings in his usual flirtation.
  • For this, I don't want the tension from the dragon-Hiryuu thing to go away. And I do kind of like the angst about him being (mostly willingly) snared in what he spent his whole life running from.

  • Jae-Ha/Son Hak/Yona:
  • A ship I love but had not, technically, intended to request. However! I have gone into my love of Jae-ha/Yona above; Jae-ha flirts a lot with Hak, in a way that's a lot less fraught than his thing with Yona but still genuinely meant; Hak/Yona does not interest me on its own but add another person and I'm onboard.
  • There's a nice contrast here about how Hak is dragon-level loyal to Yona through purely human motives, while Jae-ha is so hugely conflicted about his own emotions unexpectedly not being in conflict with the dragon's—and in the easiness with which Jae-ha pursues Hak while struggling with his feelings for Yona. And meanwhile Yona's relationship with Hak is this old, familiar thing, dating back to her time as the princess who was never prepared to rule (including their tangle of emotions with Soo-won) and she meets Jae-ha as she's first coming into her own and trying to be a worthy leader and loyal to her followers. Yona's power over Jae-ha is kind of terrifying in a way, and in contrast she knows Hak chose this of his own free will. And yet Hak's loyalty also predates her efforts to be a good leader, while she won over Jae-ha by her own efforts. I love the contrast of different flavors of loyalty, old relationships and new.

  • Shin-ah/Yona:
  • Whereas this relationship is just sweet. Yona is basically the center to Shin-ah's world, she gave him his name—and she's not afraid to look in his eyes.
  • Loyalty kink!
  • She named him! (And that's its own kind of power, that she offered him freedom and friends and opened the whole world up to him.) And she's not afraid to look him in the eye.
  • In a lot of ways, he's even more of a stranger to the world they're in now than she is--she was sheltered, but he was so very isolated. They're both seeing a lot of the world for the first time together.

Thursday, January 7th, 2021 06:56 pm (UTC)
Reading through your Yona request made me so happy. *^^* I adore that whole complex web of relationships and dynamics.

(I haven't looked at the fandom at all, but I really hope there's a lot of amazing fic exploring those things. Maybe down the road once the manga wraps up I'll investigate!)
