    Profile

Seadall is a famous dancer from Solm, and is also a skilled fortune-teller. He was born in a town on the Azure Coast, his father dying when he was still very young. He was raised by his mother for a time, also a fortune-teller, before she succumbed to an illness. After some time living as an orphan on the streets, he was picked up by a traveling caravan, and taught dancing by a teacher who he highly admired, but has passed away by the present.

Seadall is first encountered in Chapter 15, where he is seen practicing alone in a ruined temple in the outskirts of Solm. Suddenly, he is surrounded by Corrupted, but just as all hope seems lost, a mysterious voice from a ring calls out to him, later revealed to be Emblem Corrin. With her guidance and the timely intervention of Alear and their army, Seadall and the Emblem are saved, and promptly join the army.

    Personality

Seadall can be a bit harsh at times, but he's especially kind to those he likes. He has a beautiful charm and carries a mysterious atmosphere about him. He takes his craft as a dancer very seriously, taking strict note of his diet and habits to ensure he doesn't fall into laziness and thus potentially weaken his dancing. Unfortunately, this attitude is also a source of much strife for him, as despite this heavy discipline, he often finds himself yearning for foods that go against his self-mandated diet, such as roasted meat or fried goods. He is also jealous of Rosado's ability to seemingly do and eat whatever he pleases while still maintaining good form, in heavy contrast to Seadall's own straightlaced and inflexible habits.

Seadall is also a skilled fortune teller, though at times he doubts his own abilities. Despite that, he always wishes to use his skills for the sake of those around him, such as assuring Citrinne of Brodia's safety or helping Amber fulfill his prophecy of becoming a hero. He likes honey the most out of the entire army.

    Overall

As the game's sole Dancer, Seadall fills a unique combat role that no other unit is capable of doing. Historically, Dancers (or more generally classes capable of refreshing other units actions) have been exceptionally powerful, and in Engage this is as true as ever with the inclusion of powerful Engage mechanics strongly encouraging large Player Phase plays. As a Dancer, Seadall's stats aside from movement are largely irrelevant, as he should not be seeing combat in most circumstances. Even though his Personal Skill, Curious Dance, technically does not require him to be a Dancer, his stats and growth rates are completely unremarkable otherwise, so there is no reason to reclass him out of it.

Seadall's primary strength is being able to double the turn of the strongest unit in the army. This has a myriad of benefits, such as being able to efficiently kill multiple units with a strong attacker, cross twice as much distance on a map as normal, or take out multiple boss health bars in one turn. He synergizes well with effects that apply on a per-attack basis, such as Chain Attacks, Poison or flat damage from skills such as Divinely Inspiring. Another main benefit is the fact that Dancing does not consume any portion of an Engage meter, increasing the efficiency of resource economy when making the most of the Engage mechanic. As a small bonus, the Dancer class skill Special Dance boosts the Dexterity, Speed, and Luck of his target for 1 turn, improving the overall consistency of whoever he dances for.

Seadall's value as a Dancer leaves very little room when considering what Emblem Ring to work with as he cannot execute explosive attacks with most of the rings as most other units can. Instead, Seadall benefits more from the Skill Inheritance he can get from most of the Rings or Rings in general that give him supportive effects. He starts with the Ring of the Crux of Fate, which is his overall best ring if equipped as it has Quality Time which heals allies adjacent to him up to 10 HP depending on its tier, which gives him more of a supportive niche as a refresher and pseudo-healer. Pair Up helps to protect him from being assaulted by Chain Attacks by outright negating it. While he may not get the most explosive damage from performing Dragon Fang, he still can set up kills for his allies. The Ring of the Princess Exalt gives Dual Assist which allows him to participate in Chain Attacks himself and since Chain Attacks deal flat damage, he can provide legitimately solid chip damage. Also, using Bonded Shield as a Dancer (Qi-Adept class) increases its trigger rate to 100%. The Ring of the Holy Knight gives Canter, allowing him to move after dancing, which can help further set up aggressive or defensive plays by position him. The Ring of the Instructor mainly boosts his Brawl prowess, increasing his avoid and the Goddess Dance can be used effectively by him, though putting it on another unit is likely better as Goddess Dance can also refresh Seadall himself if another unit uses it on him, thus spreading his utilities out.

Overall, Seadall continues the series tradition of exemplifying the full supportive value of a Dancer but with many new tricks thanks to the Emblem mechanics of Engage. Receiving him near the end of the midpoint of the story gives him one of the best long term usage for the remainder of the game and his unique role is literally irreplaceable among all of the units available in game. For return on value, Seadall is incredibly potent in this regard and is highly recommended even if significant investment is not put into him like most other units.
