Street Vendor

I'll sell to you, if only to get you out of sight as soon as possible.

The Street Vendor is a merchant on the New Vegas Strip in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[edit]

Originally from North Vegas,[1] she works as a snack food and beverage vendor on the New Vegas Strip,[2] with most of her business coming from New California Republic soldiers "coming and going on furlough" from the monorail at Las Vegas Boulevard Station.[3]

She describes her business as "kind of independent," adding that vendors are required to register and sign a franchisee agreement with Mr. House before they can vend, with half of all profits earned from a single day going to the Securitrons.[4] Vendors are also unable to sell alcoholic beverages, which are reserved exclusively for the casinos.[2] While she describes it as steep, she prefers it over North Vegas, mentioning that she can "afford to eat" and "no one tries to kill [her]."[1]

Gameplay[edit]

She will comment on and provide a price discount or markup depending on the player's Strip Reputation. She cannot be bartered with if the player has the Merciful Thug, Shunned, Hated or Vilified reputation titles. The following replies will show up when asking her to trade:

Street Vendor: "Yep, he makes the rules. It's steep, but it sure beats living in North Vegas. Here on the Strip I can afford to eat, and no one tries to kill me."

  2. 2.0 2.1 Courier: "What do you sell?"
Street Vendor: "Non-alcoholic beverages and snack foods. The casinos get to sell booze. No one else does."

  3. Courier: "Tell me about the Strip."
Street Vendor: "It's the most amazing place in the world, don't you think? This must be what it was like to live a thousand years ago! There are three casinos open for business - Gomorrah, The Tops, and the Ultra-Luxe. They get nicer in that order. This here's the monorail station leading in from Camp McCarran. Most of my business is with soldiers coming and going on furlough."

  4. Courier: "Do you work for one of the casinos?"
Street Vendor: "Nope, strictly independent. Well... kind of independent. To vend anything here on the Strip, you got to register with one of those police robots and sign a franchisee agreement. At the end of each day, you keep half of what you made. The rest, you hand over to those bots - and they know if you're cheating."
