Prospector Saloon

If you're looking to wet your whistle, just past Chet's is the Prospector Saloon. The bartender there, Trudy, knows everyone in town.Doc Mitchell

The Prospector Saloon is a location owned and operated by Trudy in Goodsprings in Fallout: New Vegas.

Background[edit]

In around 2274, seven years before the start of Fallout: New Vegas, Trudy took over the saloon's operations.[1]

Publications[edit]

The hub of Goodsprings is this ramshackle tavern. Easy Pete may be sitting in his rocking chair on the porch, and he’s excellent for getting some information (and Dynamite) out of. There are four exterior doors; two at the front (one is locked [Very Easy]), one at the back, and one that leads to a secret moonshine shed [Very Easy] attached to the building, close to the fence where Sunny Smiles has you shoot off bottles during Main Quest: Back in the Saddle. Inside the shed, you find the following:

• Scrap Metal
• Moonshine (5)

Inside the saloon, you can meet Sunny Smiles and her dog Cheyenne, and begin Main Quest: Back in the Saddle. Make sure you ask her about employments, so she tells you about the locked safe inside the Schoolhouse, and gives you a Magazine (which isn’t counted toward the total you can find lying around) and Bobby Pins. She also has a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area and Factions. Check the sideboard in this area for another Magazine.

Signs[edit]

Layout[edit]

Exterior[edit]

There are four entrances to the saloon: one at the front with a porch that, an easy-locked southern entrance that leads into a small office, an unlocked southern entrance to the west of the previous one, and a very easy-locked entrance at the northwestern corner of the building that leads to a moonshine distillery which is separate from the rest of the saloon. The signage is made of varying neon letters.

Small Office[edit]

A small office that is connected to the bar and it contains a easy-locked terminal and hard-locked floor safe. The terminal can be used to unlock the safe. Items such as alcohol, water and skill magazines can be found on the nearby shelves and on the crates found around the room.

A Meeting People and Salesman Weekly can be found on top of the Sunset Sarsaparilla Crate across from the terminal.

Northern Room[edit]

A Jukebox and pool table can be found in the northern room. There is some seating at the windows.

A Fixin' Things magazine can be found a counter near the pool table.

Bar[edit]

The bar has seating at the bar as well as against the windows. Alcohol and glasses can be found on the counter behind the bar alongside a .357 Magnum Revolver in a glass and cash register. There is a broken radio found near the gun that can be fixed in an unmarked quest.

The Back[edit]

The western part of the saloon has two bathrooms, with the men's room being used as storage, and an exit outside. The women's room is a source of clean drinking water.

Moonshine Distillery[edit]

A small room, locked behind a very easy lock, where two fission batteries, five moonshine, one turpentine, one scrap metal and one conductor can be found on the shelves.

Notes[edit]

  • Sunny Smiles begins the game here and initiates the tutorial quest Back in the Saddle when the Courier first arrives. Trudy and Joe Cobb arrive once the tutorial quest is complete or declined. After the completion of the Ghost Town Gunfight quest, Ringo stays there until the Courier travels to the Crimson Caravan Company near the Strip.
  • If the quest Run Goodsprings Run is completed, the items in the saloon will no longer be considered owned, except the .357 Magnum in the drinking glass behind the bar.
  • A Goodsprings Settler will often be sitting at the bar. He returns to his residence at 10 PM. If killed, his inventory contains a Prospector Outfit, cowboy hat, and a .357 Magnum Revolver in half condition.
  • The moonshine in the rear room reachable only from the outside is part of Trudy's sales inventory and disappears from her inventory if stolen. The presence of two Fission Batteries in this room is likely a reference to the recipe for moonshine later taught to the Courier by Cass. While Chet normally does not buy items stolen in Goodsprings, he will buy the moonshine.
