The One or The Big One is a unmarked location and world object in Fallout: New Vegas.
Background[edit]
An undetonated nuclear bomb found slightly west-northwest of the Devil's Throat. It appears if one has the Wild Wasteland trait.
Gameplay[edit]
The bomb has a display that reads "9999." Standing in close proximity to the bomb will result in damage between 1-3 rads per second. Depending on the Courier's level, there will be up to four super mutant masters behind the bomb, next to a cave. There are also several Glowing Ones or feral ghoul roamers around the area. Without the trait, there is only a small blackened area of ground emitting a constant 1 rad per second.

This nuclear bomb appears to be a dud. However, it appears as though the core components could be salvaged. Do nothing.

You quickly disassemble the core components of the bomb's fission reactor.

The mess of wires and scrap metal confuses you. Perhaps if you knew a bit more about semiconductors and power cell technology, you might know where to begin disassembly.

Notes[edit]
- With a Science skill of 60, the Courier can salvage components from The One, which equates to 150 Energy Cells, 50 Microfusion Cells, and two Sensor Modules.
- In the game files, a script associated with Mini Nukes appearing as one of the salvageable items from the bomb is disabled.
Appearances[edit]
The One appears in Fallout: New Vegas.
Bugs[edit]
- While the check will say Science 60, the player character will not be able to salvage parts unless their skill is 61 or more.
- Even with the Wild Wasteland trait, The One may not appear. Instead, a large hole will appear in its place. A possible cause could be picking the Wild Wasteland trait after Old World Blues without having it prior. Enabling The One by console commands prid 16192a followed by enable can solve this problem.
